  1. This can't possibly be correct. He is either the devil or the savior of the team. Just like everything else in today's world the is no middle ground, it's one of the polar ends./green
  2. That would make sense.
  3. Then your expectations of him as the 4 pick is invalid as well.
  4. Agreed. You can't take guys whose bodies are used to a certain amount of work/rest ratio and all of a sudden change it. The body doesn't work that way. You can slowly modify over time but not that abruptly.
  5. They really aren't that different at this time. If he gets to 100 only starting, he will either pitch only every 8th day or end his season very early. In the pen he can pitch the whole season a little at a time. Next year is the year he needs to build up consecutive innings so he can pitch 130-150 innings. This year is just getting him increased innings because he's never done that.
  6. They can also build his innings in the MLB pen. He needs to get near 100 innings, I would think. He also needs to show he can stay healthy
  7. Because it's harder to control and harder to get called for strikes. Umps miss uncle Charlie more than other pitches
  8. I disagree. He gets at least half a season to show improvement. I know you have an extreme bias when it comes to him but you just aren't being fair or realistic. Unless by next year you mean 2022 then I agree but it's probably a little long of a timeline.
  9. If it takes years, then I would agree. However, you have barely given him a month.
  10. So there is no possibility that he can learn pitchers, learn the OF arms and learn who to run on after 29 games last year and one month in 2021? It is absurd to think that players can't improve after 50 games in the MLB. There is no guarantee he will but to say he can't after May is ridiculous. Personally, I would prefer he test the limits right now and learn how aggressive he can or can't be.
  11. You mean players can learn from mistakes?
  12. Mine just rolled over from last year.
  13. To each his own. I enjoy the discussions.
  14. Like I said, no patience. Sometimes the journey is better than the destination.
  15. Agreed. this needs to be the first round priority. If there aren't any left when they pick, its different.
  16. I like the discussion and anticipation. People have no patience.
  17. The biggest issue is if the player is bad in the first part of the contract. This can cripple a team if they sink a good portion of their budget into him.
  18. Similar to to the Heyward deal for the Cubs.
  19. Are you including Denver?
  20. They called it already. ?
  21. The union should try do all of those things. It would benefit them. That is why there are negotiations for CBAs. The owners should also try to keep them. As it benefits them. There is a salary tax but it is not a cap. Teams go over it every year. Teams can't so that in other sports. Neither group negotiates in total good faith as we saw this summer. The CBA negotiations will as bad if not worse.
  22. Very true. Doesn't change the fact that MLBPA is the strongest union in the major sports.
  23. Baseball has by far the strongest union and the owners have far less power compared to all other major sports. MLB is the only sport where there isn't a salary cap and they have fully guaranteed contracts. The owners and players do everything they can to get an advantage over the other. Thats business. If you noticed all other sports had shortened seasons without all the public negotiations. Why? The owners have much more power there.
  24. I disagree. It provides hilarious entertainment.
  25. That would be a good move.
