Old: Mega Hendriks Speculation Thread
This is what I was saying. A minimal salary guy who won't go deep in games so they will spend the money on the pen to lengthen it.

Could be, but what starter is going to sign with them knowing they are going to the pen once Kopech is ready?

Old: Mega Hendriks Speculation Thread
I guess I should have said a "high end arm". They may get another pitcher that won't pitch past the 5th inning so it is more important to put their resources into lengthening the bullpen. Edit: Now that I think about it again they probably won't sign another starter. They have Giolito, Keuchal, Lynn and Cease, 1-4. The fifth will be Kopech once he is ready. So they'll probably go with Lopez or a bargain basement pitcher until Kopech is ready.

Because they aren't going to acquire another rotation arm so they will make the bullpen as deep as possible.

2020 Election Thoughts
I guess I didn't articulate it properly. I meant i don't like only 2 parties. There is too much us against them extremism. I would like 3 so that it isn't so binary.

I agree there was no legal basis. That doesn't stop them from trying. I guess that was more my point. When one party doesn't like the close decision, they will come up with dumbass lawsuits justified or not.

I dislike the 2 party system. Which is why I rarely vote for either in the Presidential election. They both are too extremely recently. Not enough moderates.

I think there was. I remember it not being settled until close to the inauguration day

I don't think this is accurate. They aren't trying to replace an elected leader. They are challenging the electoral process. There wouldn't be an issue if they recognized him as the elected leader. Does the same thing apply in 2000 with Bush vs. Gore and the lawsuits about the "hanging chads"

should have read this before my reply. Exactly.

Prioritizing your resources. It's not about affording one and not the other it's about where they want to allocate the resources they have. They don't have the flexibility to do both.

Sox sign Adam Eaton 1 year, $7m plus option
No doubt. As I said before, the couple of premium differebce maker FA like Bauer and Springer will get good money, probably not as much as in a regular year but good. Its everyone else that will suffer because all owners will be cutting back.

Sounds about right. They had significant losses but not as much as they claim. I would never believe anything either side says verbatim. Without the fans they had about one third loss of revenue. But with money carried over from previous years they really down show as great of operating capital.

Proving your point that all teams will be cutting back on spending due to the decrease in revenue? Ok, I agree. Or are you saying they are pocketing all of the revenue generated by the fans last season?

MLB Winter Meetings Thread
It's possible I'm old. Regardless. He won multiple division titles and a World Series. You keep Mookie Betts and i'll take the titles and World Series win. Edit: I looked it up. They fired him less than a year after the World series. That's what I was thinking about. They didn't even give him a year after the win.

Losing a third of your revenue shouldn't change spending? Look at all sports. It's having its effect everywhere.

Except this builder in question did build the home and won many awards for it. edit: I take that back. If I remember right its the exact opposite of what you are saying. He built the team won division championships then fired him near the end of the season when they won the world series. So they won with the team he built but they fired him a couple of months prior to winning it.

Again, he won multiple division titles and a world series as well acquired players like Betts. If a GM does his job right, players and payrolls do become expensive because that means they are good.

They had division championships and a WS win while he was GM.

Similar to Theo's exit from the Cubs? Whenever a team has success they have to pay their players, they get old and it comes to an end. The key is can you at least win in the good years.

Me too. I've liked him since the Marlins days. Not only does he do a good job he knows how to treat and work with people.

It's the xm channel for the left. It used to be called america left. The conservative station sounds like your first paragraph focusing more on the Georgia runoffs and using it as a jump to change america.

Baseball America unveils White Sox Top 10
The White Sox were 16th last year and slightly above the average. What constitutes a normal team.
