The players know the owners operate on a very slim margin. Boras said in an interview that the owners dont have much net profit after paying all expenses including loans. The owners make their money in building asset value in the team and profit when they sell. Which he says isn't shared with the players, in which he is correct.

Many clubs are talking about using the home parks for their spring training sites. This spring training will be more about getting physically ready for the season more than games.

Most agree that pitchers really need 4 weeks and hitters 3. The longer spring training is for money for the facilities in spring training.

Depends on the format of the extended playoffs this year. As stated before the most they could realistically play is 80 games. The current season format the sox would have 76 games left if the season starts July 1. If they expand the playoffs by 1 week, that leaves 70 regular season games unless they go deeper into November. I agree 50 is too few hopefully it comes up some.

I'm not sure about him. He's another one of these minimal follow through guys who decelerates from rotation instead of trunk flexion. He's not as bad as Rodon but almost in the same category. He has a little trunk flexion but not enough.

After watching the video, I'm with you. He is a kid to follow regardless of where he goes.

With those tree trunk legs and straight line throwing motion, I like the projection for him. His arm angle is a little low but thats relally the only thing to say about him.

I disagree. I think most of the fans would enjoy it. Besides its not the fans that matter it would be how willing the network deals for the playoffs which have been negotiated. Part of the current negotiations are increased playoffs games. That would only increase the playoff money.

Yep. Players get their prorated money (although the number of games would go up), owners get playoff money. Make it real fun. Owners and players each get a 60-40 split of the playoffs games they are in. Give them a real incentive to win. (I know it won't happen, but it would be fun)

I think a regular season "seeding" a playoff tournament for all teams would be fun. Seed the team 1-30 and let there be multiple playoff rounds similar to World Cup. I know thats not what they are proposing. The owners want to give more time for playoffs so they make more money. The fact that a counter proposal came so fast is encouraging. The players want 114, owners 50. Next round player say 100, owners say 60. The settle at 80.

I believe part of the deal was to be able to opt out AND get paid if they could prove high risk. This is somewhat vague could involve having a new child or care for parents at home.

Two major point you are missing. The players agree to defer money and expanded playoffs. The owners make quite a bit of their money in the playoffs because the players don't get paid for them. Deferring money from this year allows the owners to make more this year as well. I think it is a good starting point for an agreement that will benefit both groups.

There are a number of of professional athletes, the most prominent one in Chicago, Jay Cutler. They just have to be monitored much more closely with workouts and eating.

Leagues are starting up all over the world. It will be interesting to see how the first US one fairs. I thinks it's the women's soccer league.

While it would be nice, why should they pay people who aren't working and it's not under their control? If the owners purposely have them not working thats one thing. But when they are told that their workers can't work and you can't have revenue, it's a tough call.

He also doesn't have to pay all of the workers in the entire organization, once he does this. Imagine the outcry from people if the owners paid the minor league players but didn't pay the parking lot attendants, beer vendors and the rest. Why isn't Price paying for those people? Doesn't he care about them?

You're right. It really isn't that big of an issue. Unfortunately, not everyone sees it that way.

They might. But if they think the risk of playing is that high from their view, they wouldnt have played anyway so it really doesnt matter.
