  1. I never said he was greedy, although if he took the most money just because it was the most money I think it would qualify. However, we will never know for sure. My only response close to the was when someone said he wasnt being greedy he was only setting the bar higher for others, my response was that those arent mutually exclusive. This all started when someone stated the attitude should be to go for the most money. I disagree with that attitude or philosophy.
  2. They will have the financial resources but that doesn't make it not a pain in the rear to do, especially if its to be near family. It's not necessarily his family that comes into play. His wife would be the one stuck at home with kids and it's probably more important that she has a supports system nearby for emergencies and not need to fly any where for help. The fact that he could get generational wealth AND not need to do all of things can be a factor. However, back to my original point, the pursuit of every last cent in lieu of a happier more enjoyable lifestyle isn't my personal philosophy and I disagree with those who have that philosophy or attitude.
  3. Having the home team being in their hometown or a more comfortable town for them. The players can spend much more time with their families at home. Many make it a point to take their children to school on those days. Maybe it's in the same town as one of their parents, so when the player is out of town she has a support system in place. There are many reasons.
  4. My personal dilemma was to stay in pro sports and be gone a lot, open up a group of clinics where the hours would be really long starting the company or go into academia and make much less money but make my own hours and be home with the kids growing up. I chose the latter and couldn't be happier.
  5. Nope. As I said he has every right to do whatever he wants. I, personally, have valued more time with family and happiness over the absolute highest paying job where I knew I wouldnt be as happy. Just a personal philosophy.
  6. no doubt. Also, need to factor in the difference in the amount of money is 50 million worth the 10% of happiness? That is why they are difficult decisions. The comment about the"attitude" of going for the most money not being wrong was what I was referring to.
  7. Those 2 ideas are not mutually exclusive. He very well could have been both.
  8. While he certainly has the right to do it, I would say there is something wrong with that attitude. Sacrificing happiness for every last cent isn't the way I would choose to go. I know that is extreme but as an attitude or philosophy I would disagree.
  9. I still think they will give Trubiskey every chance to be the QB. He starts the season but has a short leash.
  10. I agree. If someone is saying they are the 29th for power ranking they are a Packer fan looking to create controversy.
  11. They also knew that it wouldnt last as the production wasnt "natural." Rumormill anyway.
  12. Yep. A short season of all intrasquad games would be my guess. Unless they are allowed to "practice" with other teams.
  13. Julio Franco is all that needs to be said. ?
  14. McDowell, Alvarez, Fernandez, and Bere is tough to beat.
  15. Because the owners said so. Owners creative accounting where they don't include parking or concession sales because they are technically provided by outside vendors who coincidentally split the money with the owners. i side with the owners more than any other person on this board but even I don't believe the numbers they throw out there during negotiations.
  16. I doubt it. There were about 60 million fans in the MLB last year. Even if you are really generous and say each fan averages 50.00, that's about 3 billion. Which is less than third of the revenue generated. The owners may claim that for negotiations but I doubt it would be more than just a few teams, if any.
  17. Sure they will. Just not as much. The internet fees alone will probably make a profit. Baseball had over 9 billion in revenue. If they dont operate 30 large empty stadia they will probably make more money.
  18. I agree. If the season doesn't get going until late July or so, it's a fun option.
  19. There is nothing surprising about money being the issue. It's a business to make money. However, this is also the reason that there will be baseball. No one makes money if they don't play.
  20. Yep. That's why he fell. The surgeries all seem to go well by reports. His weren't as serious as Tua.
  21. How many WRs can the Raiders take in one draft?
  22. Yes. 2 immediate starters in the 2nd round is pretty good.
