  1. It may be in preparation for MLB to eliminate minor league teams.
  2. I wouldnt blame them either. It's their choice. However, they do have a contract with the school and they may lose that scholarship if they don't abide by it.
  3. Yes. They have the option of dropping out if school if they truly think they are at too much risk and the medical staff doesn't agree. If they have identified risks, it would be the decision of the medical staff and coaching staff.
  4. No its not. While he is the most popular, guys like Rendon, Puljols and Upton will provide quality play from the players. People starved for sports will still watch.
  5. I don't think there will be a significant difference in the viewership if it's only a player or two on each team. If it get above 50% of the team, it's a different story.
  6. Being part of a union, I bet most would. It's all for the collective good. Whatever helps the majority of the players is usually the view. Mike Trout is going to make more next year than most of the players make in their entire career. They won't be too worried about him.
  7. It's really all about the money. Look at the players proposal. Keep the prorated salary and add more games so they get more money. This pushes the season later so there is a less likelyhood for more playoffs thus the owners get less money. They are both posturing for more money.
  8. It was actually the fault of a few colleagues and myself. In February at our national convention, we were bemoaning the fact that some DPT program are going to a format where the student do all didactic material online and only come to campus for short intense lab sessions. We were all glad that we were going to retire before this became the norm and we would have to do it. Guess what in March we were and still are forced to do all of our courses online and will need to do the short intense lab sessions whenever we are allowed to. ? We have accepted our responsibilities and await appropriate punishment.
  9. I think it's a pretty good idea. The article made a good point that the owners make most of their money in the post season. There is a pretty good chance that no matter what anyone does there will be a resurgence of the virus in the Fall. If this happens and the playoffs are canceled it could be devastating for some teams. The sliding scale with post season money if they are played makes sense.
  10. When you aren't part of the union and most likely never will be, you tend not to be a high priority.
  11. I think there are enough trials out there that it will happen earlier than that. Obviously there is no way to be certain. However, just like the discussion of baseball there is far too much money involved for it not to get pushed along. It will be interesting to see the FDA approval. The FDA is far more conservative than any other country. Normally it can take years before a drug is approved here after it is in Europe. I bet that doesn't happen here.
  12. *mic drop* rides off into the night.
  13. There are enough vaccines getting set to go to large scale human trials that I think early next year is a reasonable goal with late this year a possibility. I dont really think that the baseball season is in jeopardy. His reasoning is sound but I dont think that situation will happen.
  14. Really? That's surprising. I would think basketball and hockey would be more questionable with being indoor.
  15. The medical staff didn't have the influence on Deng, it was the coaching staff. I'm not saying they haven't done a good job. Their recent record isn't great. If they were truly unhappy with the medical staff, which they would be justified by the results, they would have let go more than just the lowest person. As I said, if they make significant changes to the medical staff, I'll change my opinion. Right now it just doesn't look that way. The game is far less physical and training programs have advanced but the players have changed as well. The are bigger and heavier. This does not translate well when they are running and jumping on very hard surfaces. Far too many training programs are focusing on strength and mass as opposed to motor control and balance advancements which is what basketball players need to to control their bodies during the pounding on the surface but especially on landing from jumps. This is where the majority of injuries in basketball occur. Load management is helpful with the size of these players. However, if the lower levels of training, high school and college changed their philosophy a little, it wouldn't be as needed. Unfortunately, change takes time especially in sports.
  16. Doesn't mean it isn't true from their view.
  17. True. If they fire the entire medical staff then I'll change my opinion. I just haven't heard that anything else will happen and they don't think so either. But the place is walking on eggs right now waiting for the next moves.
  18. I think it's more him being a public scapegoat for the injuries the last few years. It's funny how they publicized it usually these moves don't get much press. The new regime didn't know the medical director, physician or strength and conditioning people either. You can see by the reaction a couple on this board. It makes fans feel better that they did something even if it was the lowest guy in the hierarchy. I'm sure his contract being up helped but Chip will hire the new guy anyway not the GM.
  19. True. Which is a shame because they really do know what they are doing. Jeff is just a scapegoat for the new regime. Why fire the AT but keep the director? The AT mostly just handles the injuries after the happen. Keeping Chip means they really dont have an issue with what's been going on with prehab and care.
  20. Too bad Jeff is a good guy. Keeping Chip is the important part though.
  21. Not a big fan of the delivery. Throws from a low arm angle and has that dumba$$ straight up finish so he has to spin at the end instead of driving toward the hitter. Not as bad as Rodon but similar in motion.
