  1. Good question. It will be interesting.
  2. Only your friends matter. Who gives a crap what outside people think. No matter what someone does in that position some people will love it and some will hate it anyway. It's like being a youth sports coach.
  3. Thanks, me! Going on vacation so I will out for a few. Getting it in while I can.
  4. The point of the long season is so I can enjoy as much baseball as possible. That's the only thing that matters.
  5. Possible. I'm all for something similar to try to get the teams trying. Arent there teams that are routinely bad in the NBA though. We need to look at why and try to correct that.
  6. Correct. It's close to the same deal the owners wanted. However, the final deal will probably be for a few more games with the owners getting the extra playoffs in 2021.
  7. It's a defacto cap but those teams go over it until the penalties are too harsh. Then they go down for year only to go up again. Plus that limit is really high. Its higher than the NFL cap and they have 53 players and MLB has 26.
  8. Because they dont want the high spending teams go have limits. Teams like the pirates and royals will stay at the minimum and the Dodgers, Yankees and red Sox will have limitations. The union only cares about the average salary increasing not individual teams.
  9. Salary cap and floor has been my push for years. This is another good way to make the league more competitive. The players have fought it forever though. You are on fire today.
  10. Yes. Purely random chance of non-playoff teams. No teams gets any advantage over another based on record. That's good way to eliminate the desire to be the worst team.
  11. Ditto. Baseball needs fundamental changes because as you said it is dying a slow death. I'm not smart enough to figure it all out but in a season already drastic different from 5he norm, try new things.
  12. For once we agree on something.
  13. Agreed. Its worth experimenting with it in this weird scenario we're in. If it increases viewers keep it. If it flops, they can try something different.
  14. No one because it's a very similar offer to all the other ones. The owners kept asking for salary about the 56-58 range of full pay. They did go up a few games. They players gave up playing regular season games in October and expanded playoffs in 2021. Each side gave a little.
  15. Yes. It gives the owners the extra playoffs in 2021 if they dont happen this year. Good deal.
  16. Good compromise fewer games for the owners, full prorated pay for the players. It will be interesting to see if the players get any playoff money.
  17. No it could be that they just realized that games have to happened and they cut a different deal. They may just be willing to take less of a loss. It may also be good for their CBA negotiations if they give up more than the players now. They may be playing the long game.
  18. The deal will probably end the season earlier and not expand the playoffs into those months. The players originally wanted the season to extend into October so those would have been the playoff months. The give and take will be the owners giving prorated pay and the players taking fewer games and expanded playoffs.
  19. Unfortunately, you are correct.
  20. I agree. It's not hard. Many people will complain its too hot especially now. Too bad just wear it around other people then get out of that situation and take it off.
  21. There is far more contact and breathing in each other face in soccer. This is far more direct than going from hand to hand.
  22. Obviously you haven't read very many then. I've repeatedly said both sides are at fault and it's only because I am the only one who even will consider the owners side that it looks that way. This is why i found myself defending them in so many posts.
  23. There will 100% baseball this year. This is just a negotiating tactic to stall until enough days are gone that the maximum number of games are down to a number the owners want. This way the players don't have grounds for a grievance while the owners do. Any way as I said in another thread. This has gone on long enough. Time to let it go. No one is going to change thier views. I will contend to the end both parties are culpable and they are damaging the sport. The owners are evil, the players are saints.
  24. It's not about feeling sorry for the owners. I don't feel sorry for either side. It's about acknowledging the fact that the owners and the players are both being idiots and they are both the cause of this stalemate. As I've said in many different posts I am not on the owners side in this. It's just that everyone else is so biased and anti-owner they cannot even contemplate that the players have at least some degree of fault here. This makes me the only person defending the owners view that the players have fault as well and makes it look like I'm against the players. It's about to let it go because it's not going to change. The owners are evil and the players are saints.
