I like a good defender for a 4th OF.

He was good to go last September. The only reason he will not be int he rotation is service time.

I don't think that will be the program. Once a week is not a good program. More likely it will be on a regular rotation but piggy backed with someone else to only pitch a few innings.

He will be on an innings limit. It's a shame to waste those innings in the minors. He will be fully healthy and ready to go. I guess they will use it as an excuse.

Typical rehab for UCL. The only thing I've read is that he may start in the minors if he isn't up to full strength. Now maybe that's an excuse to start him in the minors because he will be at full strength.

Yep. Everyone has a different philosophy on what constitutes "good" mechanics. This is where the difference is. The problem I have with Driveline and similar groups is they try to make everyone the same. Pitchers are not the same even anatomy is different. So while one philosophy works for one, it may not work for everyone. I base my view on injury prevention. Many others on pitch velocity or other performance variables. This is why you hear pitchers going to these "schools" or like Giolito back to a previous coach. Not every set of mechanics works for everyone.

As I said, the Sox look at it a little differently. They analyze biomechaincs just like driveline but use a different philosophy of biomechanics. Driveline would never have advocated for drafting Chris Sale. The Driveline process of analyzation is not new. The philosophy of what mechanics are correct to use is what is different.

As i said I was personally involved with biomechanics and pitching. The advanced analytics with spin rate and such, i have no information on.

Those cameras were the next step from biomechanics. It was the ball analyzation of spin rate and such. This is what they didn't have. Different types of cameras.

Well let me rephrase this Cooper does have a different way looking at mechanics, which I personally agree with which is why I like him. He doesn't really look at much upper extremity motion other than arm slot. He looks more at lower extremity balance and transfer of motion up to the upper extremity. So the biomechanics in his view, again one I happen to agree with really focus on how to get the proper transfer of power and motion from the legs up to the upper extremity. This is why the drafted a guy like Sale. They aren't necessarily worried about specific mechanics or making someone into their version of mechanics but they look at how it all pieces together to transfer the power to the ball. So I guess in a way you are somewhat correct. They don't try to change everyone's mechanics.

By all accounts the Sox are good business people. Some on here say they are too good at business and not good enough about baseball operations. This scenario smells of Matt not being able to teach the methods in the way he wanted.

I disagree. With the rebuild progressing, it's a winning season this year is the level. Competing for the playoffs from there after is the goal. Things happen every season that might cuase a team to miss the playoffs. Not every good team makes the playoffs every year. However, they should be in contention for it up until the last few days of the season.

Winning is more fun. But if you can't enjoy the game for the game then you're more of a fan of winning than the game. One of the most enjoyable games I've ever been to was a 1 hitter pitched by Jack Morris against the Sox. He was dominant and it was a great game.

Still better than the F- they had in RF last year. Not every position needs to have an All-Star, even the Yankmees don't have that.

I would call that improvement. They should be better in RF than last year. That only helps the team.
