Fulmer: An awesome deep dive on his driveline winter
ptatc replied to bmags's topic in Pale Hose Talk
No, he had multiple fractures in the primary bone in the arch called the navicular. The bone is only about 1 inch cubed in size and they put an obscene number of screws in it to try to get it to heal, something like 14. It didn't heal well and he couldn't even wal without pain. -

It probably is the only way that he will last as a starter. However, since it didn't work let him go back to his old form, become effective and go to the pen if needed. -
I disagree it would be better than a world series for him. However, keeping salaries from running away and having only the "rich" teams win all the time is a goal of his.

Why would the Sox care of the Phillies got a bargain on Harper as long as the Sox get Machado. It makes no sense that one team would care what kind of deal another teams gets on a player.

This is what their beat writer said on the radio.

No kidding. The agent would say that if you can afford both then just give my player 350 million.

Well they are missing the buffet table in the clubhouse.

Thomas of 02-05 was one dimensional because he couldn't put any weight on his front foot. Thomas was one of the first "stats" guys. He wouldn't have given up his average just to hit more HR. He wanted to be an all around hitter. He was very about which balls he would hit for HR, which ones to drive the other way and which ones to let go by because they weren't in his zone. It would be interesting to see how many HR he hit if he sold out everything for power as today's hitters do. -

Sounds like they are making him into a bullpen pitcher. Go back to a h9gh effort delivery and pitch to maximum effort. -
Sox hitters already ready for camp // Burger is hitting off tee

They must be treating it very conservatively then. I don't blame them with the second injury. Edit: I now see an article after surgery in May that they were predicting 12 months. Again very conservative but I don't blame them in this situation. -

It's hard to tell. Typical rehab would be 4-5 months. However with it being the second one I don't know if they used an augmentation device or not. Probably not with his age. If they are letting him hit, he is probably a month away from games. -
There are pretty the same person. Parkins is a younger McNeil. Blowhard a$$holes. Although Parkins is more confrontations and admits he enjoys it.

I will not be following this on page 666 to not jinx anything. So he will sign during that time.

It's a chain. They have them in Arizona too.

Those tables are hard. I dont blame him for adding a little cushion.

Over training is the primary cause of most injuries. Like in the article eccentric training is the most important activity with any tendonopathy. It has to isolated though. No concentric activity. For example for the Achilles raise up on your right heel set your left foot down and lower only on the left. This way the left had only the lowering eccentric activity. As the article said it helps to properly align the collagen and increase the metabolic functions. But that's as much as we know. -
This is so wrong. The Sox even with one of them will not make the World Series.

Here is a good one that specifically discusses the Achilles as well. It's a few years old and there is newer research that shows it as well. You can't increase it a large amount but enough to increase the overall tensile strength. ijspt-10-748.pdf -

Weight has very little bearing on an Achilles tendon injury. Flexibility does. Doing heavy lifting at 80% 1 rep max is crucial to thicken and strengthen tendons. He should be doing that for ankle work. -
Still not sure about this. Where would they add? CF, 1 SP? They aren't going to replace TA, Moncada, Jimenez, Abreu, Catcher, Rodon, Lopez, Giolito.

This guns for hire Even if we're just dancin' in the dark

Illinois does not tax most types of retire plans. However, this is one if the ways they are discussing to raise more revenue. Taking away one of the few reasons to stay in this state.

That is utterly amazing. Congratulations to them.

I think a basic high school financial class of balancing a budget and loans should be a requirement. Understanding loans would help a lot, most people will have one type of loan or another, car, house school etc.

I think this is a key for society as well, too bad the State of illinois doesn't think so.
