  1. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jan 12, 2016 -> 08:58 AM) Sometimes a player wears out his welcome with an organization. Not saying that is the caee, but I think you are overreacting to their lack of interest. The same Red flag would appear w Cespedes. Boston quickly moved him and he had some problems w a a coach in his brief stay. Could also be a red flag but just might have been a poor marriage. AJ had history but he certainly was well respected w the White Sox. There are very few that could even tolerate AJ, except Hawk of course.
  2. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 02:04 PM) Sub-question: What movies have you seen the most in your lifetime? My wife asked me this and I think the answer is office space. I'm pretty sure when I was in high school I'd come home from school and it was on comedy central like every day...and I watched it. I didn't think about ones I had to sit through with the kids or ones that were "babysitting" the kids while I worked on my dissertation/homework. I would need to include: Cinderella Veggie Tales Aladdin Toy Story Independence Day Scooby Doo
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 02:21 PM) Some combination of Office Space, Blazing Saddles, War of the Worlds, Star Wars, and Back to the Future. Blazing saddles, star wars, stripes, back to the future, indiana jones, big troubles in little china.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 10, 2016 -> 12:34 PM) The Jones flag came out when there was a crowd of like 7 Bengals around 1-2 of the refs yelling at the refs and someone, I think Jones, pushed the ref. Clearly was a bump or shove or something, enough for the ref to clearly be pushed backwards, and then the flag came out. Doesn't matter how mad you are about a call. You don't touch the zebras. You're wearing a huge amount of protective equipment and you're an athlete, they're guys trying to do their job. He had a point, it's unusual for an assistant coach to be out on the field. But that's not a penalty afaik, and you don't respond to that by pushing a ref. +1000
  5. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jan 10, 2016 -> 01:33 AM) I give the wRC+ the most weight (no pun intended) when I am comparing the offensive merits of a player. The pitching equivalent being B/R's ERA+, for me. For pitching SIERA is the best. For overall I'm going with team wins.
  6. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 10, 2016 -> 12:03 AM) Yikes, James Harrison says he didn't think Burfict's hit on Brown should have been a penalty. Look at the source. With his history he's nearly as bad. But to be fair he did say according to the rules and his discussions during his fines, it is an illegal hit. He just doesn't agree with the rule.
  7. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 9, 2016 -> 11:42 PM) You know what I actually agree with this. Both are really dirty plays, Burfict's was more malicious. I don't believe I said Shazier's hit was really dirty. He lowered his head during a tackle. I would call it illegal but not "really dirty." He'll get a fine. Burfect will get a suspension.
  8. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 9, 2016 -> 11:39 PM) Except the announcers and Mike Carey defended the hit and called it legal when it was clearly not legal. OK. He hit him in the head so he'll get a fine.
  9. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 9, 2016 -> 11:24 PM) For the record, I don't have a problem with criticizing Burfict as his dirty hits date back to college and I remember one against Illinois in the last game I actually went to in Champaign but it was a ridiculous juxtaposition where they were defending a clearly illegal and dirty hit by Shazier and then going out of their way to find something wrong with Burfict's hit which was clearly clean. I also really hate Ben Roethlisberger as a person and I can't stand the love he gets from announcers as a result so their treatment of those two plays bothered the hell out of me. Shazier's hit was illegal but it was during a play and those happen. I imagine he will get a fine. Burfect's hit on Ben was legal but they've called penalties before on "landing on" the qb to drive him in the ground. It sounds like you've got something against Rothlisberger which is fine but again when you see the things that Burfect does, I can understand why the announcers talk about him the way they do.
  10. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 9, 2016 -> 11:22 PM) I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see the NFL fold at some point in our lifetimes. Between the increasing injury risks, the lack of competency within the officiating group, concussions, the poorer quality of play within the last few years, etc, the NFL is not in good shape IMO. This will never happen. Far too much money involved and it's still the most popular sport.
  11. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 9, 2016 -> 11:05 PM) Bengals' fans and certain defensive players are absolutely classless. It was hard to choose between rooting for these guys or a rapist QB. I ended up choosing neither. Im more of a baseball fan and usually just want to see good games. This was awful. Playoff football is usually pretty good.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 9, 2016 -> 11:00 PM) They reacted same way every fan base would. I don't know I've had bears season tickets for 30 years and have never seen fans throw things at a player going off injured. Edit: I have seen them throw snowballs at santa claus though.
  13. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 9, 2016 -> 10:56 PM) About as dirty of a game as you will ever see. And I still can't believe the announcers defended that Shazier hit. That was the dirtiest play (Burfict one at the end was close) in a game filled with dirty plays. I would disagree with this. Shazier did lower his head during a tackle. Burfect hit a guy in the head when there was no play. The ball was ready by him for an incomplete pass. That was the definition of a helpless reciever.
  14. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 9, 2016 -> 10:51 PM) Here's the thing. The play I was talking about before was clearly clean and wasn't close to being an illegal hit. That one was a clearly dirty play. It isn't hard to distinguish between the 2. I agree. Im just saying his history, not just this game is the reason people talk about him that way. The hit on Ben wasn't dirty today.
  15. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 9, 2016 -> 10:39 PM) Yep. They must protect and rave about a complete piece of s*** in Ben Roethlisberger and they despise Burfict (who is probably also a piece of s*** off the field but still). Them questioning the legality of his hit on Roethlisberger but defending the clearly illegal hit by Shazier was infuriating. That is why they talk about him that way. Obvious shot to the head.
  16. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 9, 2016 -> 10:39 PM) And THAT's BIG BEN'S MUSIC! He is obviously can't throw, screens and runs only.
  17. Burfect has earned it with previous personal fouls and fines. People look at it differently with repeat offenders.
  18. Well its not good football but its entertaining.
  19. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 9, 2016 -> 10:16 PM) Got it. I was referring to Ben as a piece of s*** person for what its worth. I know, but again never met Ben so I really don't have an opinion on him as a person.
  20. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 9, 2016 -> 10:11 PM) Well it was to a piece of s*** human being I guess. That was clearly a clean hit. I don't think you're right on the penalty. All I can find is this: Removal of his helmet by a player in the field of play or the end zone during a celebration or demonstration, or during a confrontation with a game official or any other player. I didn't see what Burfict did so if it was part of a celebration its a penalty, if it wasn't than it probably wasn't a penalty. When bernard went down, burfect ran on t he field to go after shazier. He is just a dirty piece of crap player. Im not judging him as a person as I dont know him.
  21. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 9, 2016 -> 10:04 PM) Clean hit on Roethlisberger. I'd have to rewatch Burfict play but simply taking off a helmet isn't a penalty in the NFL. It is a penalty ehen the offense is on the field and he is supposed to be on the sidelines. It was aclean hit with a little extra to fall on him. He has already been fined for intentionally going after his legs and knocking him out for a few games. Piece of crap player.
  22. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 9, 2016 -> 09:59 PM) Cincinnati fans threw trash at Big Ben as he was being carted off Cincinnati class.
  23. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 9, 2016 -> 09:44 PM) If that's not a personal foul than nothing should be. Unbelievably dirty hit by Shazier. Where was the penalty for Burfect running on to the field with his helmet off? Burfect knocked Bell out for the season, now Rothlisberger.
  24. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 10:42 PM) They have Saunders, Pillar and Bautista in the OF with Pompey waiting. They have no openings. Yeah, there are reportsb saying they traded revere because he was a luxury with their surplus of OFs. They are not in this market.
