  2. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 17, 2007 -> 11:09 AM) Seriously? Nolan Ryan after his early years, turned into one of the best pitchers in the history of the game. Once he learned the circle change and lost something out of his fastball, he really learned how to pitch. I'm with Jason on this one. Ryan was too wild. I'd take Clemens over Ryan any day. I'd also probably take Gibson, Marichal and Pedro over Ryan. Ryan could be absolutely unhittable, but he could also be very bad. He was great, but not as consistently great as some others.
  3. QUOTE(Texsox @ May 18, 2007 -> 06:43 AM) I didn't think she should have had one. And even if you ardently agreed with her, there are so many better spokespersons for the anti-war stance, why send a spokeskook? Why debate a spokeskook?
  4. QUOTE(Texsox @ May 18, 2007 -> 06:30 AM) Yet so many people thought a President of the US should answer the debate call. So many people thought a President should give repeated audiences to Cindy Sheehan, also. And like now, I disagreed with 'so many people'.
  5. The phrase "You suck!" used to have homosexual connotations. It has since evolved over the years to be the equinilent of "You stink". "You suck" doesn't literally mean that you are homosexual and "You stink" doesn't literally mean that you have an unpleasant odor. Now, if you want to n***** rig this discussion to where I have to J** you down, I will, but it would be mighty w**** of you if that wasn't necessary. To make it so would be g**.

  7. QUOTE(Texsox @ May 16, 2007 -> 10:12 AM) Really, I thought Thompson was responding to the Treasury Department's investigation and used it as an opportunity to attack an easy target that would help Thompson with moderates and conservatives. Only the far left and loony tunes left cares about Moore and they would not vote for Thompson. I think we can expect a less that scientifically valid film that will veer into fiction if it proves his point. You say far left and looney tunes left like there is a difference. Yes, Thompson used it as an easy way to score points with conservatives and moderates. That's still no reason to dignify the far left Moore with a debate. It would only serve to legitimacize him. No one right of San Francisco would bother.

  9. QUOTE(ROC Sox Fan @ May 17, 2007 -> 11:26 PM) Well now that you mention it, yea. They all are at least if Cubs fans if not those who prefer the Cubs. Should have realized that. Glad I could help. It just seemed so obvious to me.
  10. Baseball is a team game. I'm done. This is going nowhere productive. Have a good night.
  11. QUOTE(ROC Sox Fan @ May 17, 2007 -> 11:17 PM) Back to the Grind was destined to fail, unless it was purely meant to promote the Erstad signing. This is Chicago Baseball is a great slogan that is backed up by the 05 Championship. The South Side of Chicago Board of Tourism I think is the most clever campaign. A lot of my friends don't get it and ask "So all there is to do on the south side is see the White Sox? Why don't they promote anything else?" Are your friends all Cub fans?
  12. QUOTE(BearSox @ May 17, 2007 -> 11:13 PM) When you sign a player to such a ridiculous price as ARod was, that means you are signing him to be your cornerstone, and take you to the promise land... that has yet to happen, and I don't see it happening any time soon. Also, his great postseason performances aren't helping. Yeah ... It's ARod's fault that Hicks was stupid enough to throw the bank vault at him. That makes him a loser.
  13. QUOTE(BearSox @ May 17, 2007 -> 11:05 PM) Ernie Banks wasn't making 26 million a year, and being labeled as the best hitter of his generation. ARod probably is the best hitter of his generation. It's arguable, but he's in the top few. Baseball is a team game. It doesn't matter how much money he makes, he produces between the white lines. Guys like Banks and Fisk are not losers because they didn't play for a champion. Geoff Blum is not what you'd call a winner, but he has a ring. I'm not discounting the fact that rings are part of the equation. I'm just saying you can't call a guy a loser because he hasn't got any. I'm no 'fan' of ARod, but the mf'er can play.
  14. QUOTE(BearSox @ May 17, 2007 -> 11:00 PM) He will... but the question is, how many rings will he have? To put things in perspective, I wouldn't ever call Ernie Banks a loser.
  15. QUOTE(BearSox @ May 17, 2007 -> 10:55 PM) ARod has always been better then Crede... but I'd never want ARod on my team. IMO, he is a loser. Just look at teams records once he leaves that team. Sorry man. I totally disagree. ARod will go down as one of the greatest players in the history of the game.
  16. Is Crede a better thirdbaseman than ARod? In that particular niche of the game, yes he is. Is he a better hitter or all around ballplayer? Not in his wildest dreams. It's not even worthy of discussion.
  17. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2007 @ May 17, 2007 -> 10:37 PM) You need to start posting again. Thanks, but it seems I can only take some of the rhetoric around here in small doses lately. I come in, read the flotsam and jetsom and just have to leave. It's like way over the top the last few months.
  18. QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 17, 2007 -> 10:24 PM) I guess I expect grown or semi grown men not to be whiny little b****es about a team you supposedly love and support in 90% of the posts. I expect to see more support , patience or actual discussion without people being so out on the ledge all the time. What a concept!
  19. I have seen the Cubs and Dusty Baker endlessly mocked on this site for over using Wood and Pryor down the stretch of a pennant race yet, now I see Ozzie being criticized for protecting a good young pitcher instead of using him in an oh so important rivalry game.
  20. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 16, 2007 -> 11:05 AM) Yeah, you're probably right. He was just rambling on in a language he doesn't fully understand. I still agree with him.
  21. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ May 16, 2007 -> 10:21 AM) C'mon now...Ozzie's mouth has ALWAYS worked faster than his brain. This was also during his playing days. He's a motormouth...and add that to the fact that English isn't his first language, things like this happen. Big deal, I don't think Toby's down in Charlotte pouting to himself in front of his locker saying, "DAMMIT! And I thought I WAS Johnny Bench." For the record, I agree with you 100%.
  22. QUOTE(knightni @ May 13, 2007 -> 09:41 PM) Today, his stuff sure smelled like no. 2.
