  1. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jan 2, 2007 -> 12:07 AM) I hope some douchebag writers don't vote for Boise State to be #1 in the AP poll. What's wrong with somebody giving them a vote as a salute for a great season? Everone knows they won't win it.
  2. all that and a marriage proposal on national TV. LMAO.
  3. QUOTE(He_Gawn @ Jan 1, 2007 -> 11:56 PM) That was amazing. That team has so much f***ing heart. Heres to a 10 team bracket and f*** the BCS! No ... That was f***ING amazing!
  4. I don't think I've ever seen a better college football game! Wow! Wow! Wow!
  5. Give Sisco his shot like all the others. If he earns a rotation slot, he earns it.
  6. Who cares? The son of a b**** got his just reward.
  7. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Dec 31, 2006 -> 02:20 PM) LOL, I read everything but the paragraph about the mutation, i should know better They say the M2 protein has "barely" changed in the past 100 years, but that doesnt mean it will not change. If it does mutate though, wouldnt that put the scientists back to square one, considering this virus would be mutating to get past everything we threw at it? Kind of a scary thought You're saying that we shouldn't use the vaccine because it may mutate at a later point?
  8. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Dec 31, 2006 -> 10:29 AM) I'm handcuffed by Congress. I don't want to know about your sex life.
  9. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Dec 31, 2006 -> 02:41 AM) Right. You're the president and I hold you personally responsible.
  10. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Dec 31, 2006 -> 09:22 AM) Wont a virus mutate to survive a vaccine? I dont believe there is ever going to be a true end-all be-all vaccine, a virus is a tough little bugger(no pun intended ) If you read the article, the mutation issue is addressed.
  11. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Dec 30, 2006 -> 09:52 PM) ERNIE YOUNG, STAR MINOR LEAGUER Big fish, small pond.
  12. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Dec 31, 2006 -> 10:04 AM) It's just what I think. Wouldn't be the first time that a player was willing to do something because of race. Probably shouldn't have mentioned it because whenever you mention race people get on you, but I always thought it was more likely than "wanted to play on a contender with Scott Podsednik and Jon Garland!" I'm going to bow out of this discussion, though. I look at it from the perspective of Jermaine Dye being a man who stands by his word. That simple. That's what I meant by race having nothing to do with.
  13. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Dec 31, 2006 -> 09:52 AM) I don't think I ever used the word honest. And honestly, I think he would've broken his handshake agreement with any other GM. The fact that Williams is a black man -- like Dye, if you haven't noticed -- likely had something to do with his willingness to stand by his word. As far as the whole contender issue: it wasn't as if the 2005 White Sox were predicted to do a damn thing and it would've been hard to predict them to. I doubt Jermaine Dye said to himself, "Buehrle'll have a good year, and Garcia might too -- he's had them before! But damn, I'll bet Contreras and Garland start dealing, too, and I want to play on a contending team!" 2005 White Sox weren't contenders on paper. It's all kind of moot, as arguing over a baseball player's motivation is pretty silly. But personally, I think it had more to do with KW being black and JD being black and gratefulness that he'd given him a contract and JD had already shaken on it than "desire to play on a contender." Now that is very presumptuous on your part ... the part about KW being a black man. The man (Dye) gave his word, shook on it and stood by it. I don't think race a damn thing to do with it.
  14. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 31, 2006 -> 09:41 AM) Aaron Cunningham??? I'm just the messenger.
  15. From Baseball America's Jim Callis:
  16. s***! I guess I'm getting old as I can only come with 12 ... and 6 more that I feel I should know. *sigh*
  17. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Dec 30, 2006 -> 10:02 AM) Are you saying MJ was anything other than completely faithful? Just like Kobe.
  18. Everybody seems to assume Dye will move on, but I haven't seen anything from him that says he wants out of Chicago. Sure, he said he'd like to play for the Ranger's new manager, but that doesn't mean we can't resign him.
  19. QUOTE(U can putitontheboarrrrd...YES @ Dec 29, 2006 -> 03:15 PM) He has a natural talent for pretending he's Sammy Sosa. I want to see Uribe as the SS, but only if he beats out Cintron for the job in spring training. I'm not convinced Juan will show up in shape, focused and ready to hustle his ass off, which I dont really worry about with Cintron. He may not be able to leave the DR by spring training.
  20. History has shown that once a guy comes back from rotator cuff surgery, it usually takes 18 months for him to get back to his previous self. If Cleveland wants to pay him to rehab while he's on the mound, it's fine with me.
  21. FoxNews just reported that Saddam has NOT been transferred to Iraqi custody yet.
  22. QUOTE(VAfan @ Dec 29, 2006 -> 11:59 AM) I voted for Haeger, because you can't bring a knuckler out of the bullpen and Haeger seems nearest to being ready. I agree that Floyd would be #2 if he can harness his control and get guys out. Danks, Gonzalez, et al. are being groomed to replace Buehrle, Vazquez, Contreras and Garland. The trouble is, the Sox will never be able to use all of these arms, and not all of them will turn out to be major league players. If they knew which ones would turn out, and which won't, they would trade the bad ones for outfielders. We need a LF and CF this year, and next year will be hard-pressed to replace Jermaine Dye. Hoyt Wilhelm. Eddie Fisher. Wilbur Wood. Nope, you can't bring a knuckler out of the bullpen.
  23. QUOTE(iamshack @ Dec 29, 2006 -> 11:30 AM) I don't understand this Baldelli stuff, especially if Anderson is involved. While Baldelli is a solid all-around player, he has his own faults, including the proclivity to get injured, and his proneness to striking out. Given our offense, I would have to be receiving a lot more of a sure thing to consider moving Brian and pitching prospects. Now if you want to discuss Crawford, that is one thing, but Baldelli? I'm not going out of my way to get him at this point. Additionally, why would TB even want Anderson back? Isn't that the entire point of moving an OF? Because they have so many OF'ers? Good point.
  24. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 29, 2006 -> 11:04 AM) There are a lot of names on that list that intrigue me. Yet, the big trade seems to have faded into oblivion.
