  1. Why is Tampa looking to move Rocco? Because they have an abundance of good young outfielders. Why would they want Anderson? Would you trade Garcia for Rocco? They might go for Floyd/Gio. I think it will be Floyd and another decent young pitcher, maybe Broadway.
  2. QUOTE(LEXNLIV @ Dec 29, 2006 -> 08:41 AM) Here's something to think about.... If the Sox were to trade someone like Buehrle, what do you do with players who have a short window on their effectiveness? I'm thinking specifically about Jim Thome. He still has trade value, but his real efffectiveness as a player is 1 maybe 2 more years.... Does it really make sense to keep him this year if you have traded 3 of your starting pitchers? Would he still make sense for the White Sox? I am not saying that they SHOULD trade Thome (before I get flamed, burnt, and toasted) just that it is something worth pondering. What do you think he would bring in return? Thome is not going anywhere. NTC.
  3. QUOTE(beautox @ Dec 29, 2006 -> 08:34 AM) Hes back, along with his beautiful wife. Does this scream DESPARATE! or not.
  4. I wonder who King Nebuchadnezzar will come back as next time.
  5. After a quick glance through this thread, I didn't see this guy mentioned though I might have missed it. Bobby Bonilla
  6. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 28, 2006 -> 02:03 PM) You are definitely right about the fans. And if, for example, Buerhle and/or Crede, two of the most popular players on the team, get sent packing before 2007... there will be consequences. Winning is big, but not everything. To clarify, move Buerhle now if you get a really great offer, like what I said earlier. But the offer would need to be really, really great, and involve at least one pitcher ready to go in 2007 and do well. If that offer isn't out there, then leave him there for his last year, and let the crew of impressive young arms develop for a year. I just can no longer say "keep Buerhle regardless" anymore. So your saying there wouldn't be any significant fan uproar when we let Mark walk with nothing but two draft picks in return?
  7. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Dec 28, 2006 -> 01:39 PM) If we deal him, unless we get back a MLB ready starter, we are looking at 2004 all over again with a Roulette Wheel rotation, at least that's the way I see it. Garland Contreras Vazquez ????? ????? Throw in the fact that Vazquez is not that good and our pitching could be awful. Oh, don't take me so literally. You're a huge MB fan and I was tweaking you on that.
  8. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Dec 28, 2006 -> 01:32 PM) I still don't prefer trading him before the season starts. In a sense it would be a White Flag deal for the 2007 campaign and could really look bad for the organization. This is a pivotal year for us to get back into the playoffs (Thome isn't getting any younger, Dye will be a FA and Crede's future is uncertain) and I don't see us doing it by trading away two veterans like Garcia and Buehrle. Tough spot for KW. Aboz in favor of trading Mark? That'll be the day!
  9. Buehrle is one gone motherf***er. Put him on the market, get what you can for him and hope for the best.
  10. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Dec 28, 2006 -> 12:11 PM) Oh he was a one year wonder all right, everytime he pitched, you wondered what the f*** is wrong with this guy? I always wondered why Brian Giles wasn't included in that trade.
  11. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Dec 28, 2006 -> 11:52 AM) There must be something about the end of march that makes people conceive children... Spring?
  12. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Dec 28, 2006 -> 09:52 AM) http://www.talkbulls.com/forums/index.php?...st=0#entry21125 You nailed it, Mike.

    Gerald Ford Dies

    QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 28, 2006 -> 09:23 AM) I honestly don't know what the normal expectations for something like that is. Did every Senator and House Rep attend Reagan's funeral? I really don't know. Ah, the victim mentality again. Did we really need to go here in a thread about Ford's death? Oh man ... that was so 'out there' that I thought it was in green neon.
  14. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Dec 28, 2006 -> 07:36 AM) It would be like a deadline aqusition, without giving up the prospects. The problem is still that only 3-4 teams have Clemens ear. The rest of MLB he has zero interest in pitching for. I agree. But I was referring to the ego-maniac remark. 30 teams would be interested if the price was right.
  15. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Dec 28, 2006 -> 11:40 AM) He was never a hit. Just a one-year. A one year blunder.
  16. Just keep posting this stuff, Statman.

    Gerald Ford Dies

    QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Dec 27, 2006 -> 10:28 PM) Not to interject politics into this, but why is Reid, Durbin and 3 others still going on a junket to South America when an ex-President has died? Isn't it incumbent upon those in power in our government to attend such things as a funeral of an ex-President? And it isn't like they were out of the country when it happened, according to Reid it would have been 'too difficult to cancel'. Bull. And if some South American President or Dictator got mad at a cancelled meeting due to a funeral, oh well. It'll be Bush's fault. Just wait and see.
  18. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 28, 2006 -> 02:21 AM) This is significant, most so because it might be the smoking gun the Feds need to get Bonds in jail for perjury. I don't think the Feds will be able to convict Bonds of perjury, as it's an extremely difficult conviction to make. It's significant in the fact that a lot of reps are going to be tarnished.
  19. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 27, 2006 -> 04:21 PM) Someday, we will see those names. Unfortunately or fortunately (depending on how you look at it), it will include something like 20 White Sox players...because they all refused to take the tests to make sure that the 2004 tests were triggered. No, that's not correct. They cooperated after the union pressured them. At least, that's the way I remember it. However, they did make their point.
  20. QUOTE(BamaDoc @ Dec 27, 2006 -> 03:12 PM) I actually like bringing in the former high draft pick who looks like he is going to pan out. The high picks are normally "stuff" guys and someone else has already paid the signing bonus. Exactly. You can't teach 'heat'.
  21. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Dec 27, 2006 -> 03:56 PM) I was joking you know. Sometimes humor around here is missed. I think you are right.
  22. QUOTE(greg775 @ Dec 27, 2006 -> 08:52 PM) I wonder if a team will let Clemens skip spring training and come pitch in late May or June. What a primma donna. No team should be desperate enough to take this ego maniac on his terms. I'm sure there are no teams that would pass on adding a Roger Clemens in June if the money was right.
  23. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Dec 27, 2006 -> 12:52 PM) I think he has an upside but a downside too. I feel real strong both ways about this one Now there is a bold, definitive post.
