QUOTE(Texsox @ Dec 13, 2005 -> 08:57 AM) I'm sorry, YAS, someone has been using your computer. There were several replies from your account. They should be easy enough to track down. They couldn't understand the difference between a scientifically valid poll and a entertainment poll. Oh, I totally understand the difference. I just stated in my own way that I don't trust the results of those pols any more than you have faith in this one. You don't seem to understand the fact that I posted the poll and you ran with you damned liberal agenda. I was commenting on your closed minded comments and the fact you instantly dismissed it when it only said that 73% of the people that responded to the poll were in favor of capitol punishment. A vast majority. You didn't like it and you attacked it. Now, if you imply again that I somewhat lacking in intelligence because I happen to disagree with you, we are going to take things to a whole new level.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Dec 13, 2005 -> 08:43 AM) Then complaining how something has turned to hell . . . :rolly I listed the results of a simple poll .. with no comment one way or another. You took it from there.

Ha. A pedophile priest can't be reformed, but Tookie Williams can (and had been per some).
-
Button pushing can be so much fun.

The question is asked in an unbiased manner. There were 180k answer the question, so small sample size can't be claimed. Oh yes, this was from MSNBC, not FoxNews. But you know what, you'll brush it off and latch on to the next poll that you like the results. I know how it works.

Controlled polls can also be controlled to skew the results. This poll asked a simple question with yes or no as responses. You see the results. Nothing more, nothing less.

QUOTE(chisox2334 @ Dec 13, 2005 -> 07:07 AM) Newsday wrote in their possibly suggesting this could happened. Yes, kenny has been looking at him. But I highly doubt kenny lookin trade contreas espically under contract many years. Plus, whatever kenny offered to garland this offseason was turned down condisered be 3 year deal. Adding money of vasquez does not make sense unless they eat up more of the contract. Pierzynski, and crede will be getting money as well. Piersynski wants long term which means 3 year deal for him. I believe this report is bogus and false. I remember reading last few years that this news article has written that paul konerko was traded for vasquez. I just dont believe it because too much money for vasquez espically since we dont even know what garland makes. yet for 2006 season. This possible trade makes perfect sense to me and I find it very believable.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Dec 13, 2005 -> 06:56 AM) You do understand that these polls are not reliable? It would be like having a poll here and asking who is your favorite baseball team. But that is why we have captal punishment in this country. Revenge feels good. Everything is polled in this country. Are Bush's performance polls just as unreliable and as easily dismissed? You guys can't have your cake and eat it too.

I went back to MSNBC to see an update, and the have taken the link from the poll off their page. They must not have liked the results.
-
QUOTE(Mercy! @ Dec 13, 2005 -> 03:58 AM) Could you also cut and paste the fine print that must be there somewhere at the end saying something to the effect that "this 'poll' has no scientific validity whatsoever"? :banghead I'd rather not.

Very interesting. What this tells me, in all likelyhood, is the KW feels he has little or no chance of getting Garland to sign a multiyear deal, within what KW feels is a reasonable amount of $$$. So, he's trying to trade Garland for a quality pitcher with some cost certainty. Good thinking on KW's part.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Dec 13, 2005 -> 12:28 AM) I try. I just don't see the connection. But whatever, It's cuz I'm bored out of my mind. They all qualified as rookies. There's your connection.

QUOTE(knightni @ Dec 12, 2005 -> 11:50 AM) Baseball Free Agency is the death of the modern dynasty. Dammit! Just when we were hitting our stride!

QUOTE(daa84 @ Dec 12, 2005 -> 10:53 AM) was that the midget? Yes. EG is the midget that Bill Veeck set up to bat for the St. Louis Browns.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 12, 2005 -> 10:40 AM) Happy Birthday Sir! Oh hell. Don't say that. He's getting the big head now as it is. :headshake

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Dec 12, 2005 -> 10:24 AM) I don't know if you remember those Penny Hardaway shoe commercials where 'Lil Penny was in it. His number was 1/2. Borchard should use his reciprocal for his number so it could be 1/25. Iirc, Eddie Gaedel was number 1/8

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Dec 12, 2005 -> 10:20 AM) If we remember the original idea for why prisons were made it was...and say it with me...::drum roll:: REHABILITATION. Clemency is just for the purpose of a person who, if left alive, would not be a clear and present danger to the public. If he is locked up for life in prison, he is not a clear and present danger. There is no need to execute him, except for primal and banal bloodlust. Killing him doesn't bring back those who have died & all it leaves is one more corpse. And why not respond to my other longer post (not just you but anybody here). LMAO.... The original idea for prisons was rehabilitation? No. It was for punishment.

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Dec 12, 2005 -> 10:15 AM) Occassionally the state just misses and executes an innocent person. And occasionally, they let these mofo's out because they appear to be reformed. And they kill again and again. No "system" is perfect. However, when they do get to the point of execution, it shouldn't be "lie down, go to sleep and never wake up" with nobody watching. Public hangings in the town square would help with the "lack of deterance" problem that so many cling to in these debates.

I'm starting to get nausious. later folks.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Dec 12, 2005 -> 09:37 AM) Yet, even after their fellow gang members have been executed, they still commit murder? I guess this isn't much of a deterrent. String the son of a b**** up on the corner of Hollywood and Vine. That'll get their attention.

QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Dec 12, 2005 -> 09:26 AM) It amazes me how many people for "Tookie" refer to his children's books as a reason for him to live. I am trying to find the article i saw it in but i read that the amount of books he sold was around 350. That's it!!!!! Reading some of these news stories you would think the guys sales rivaled Dr. Suess or something. i think the street gang he founded and headed took out more kids than that in a year. Call me what you want....but for the destruction in the black community he caused he should die.....if the black community wants to put themselves up in flames for the guy (and i'm sure it's not the WHOLE community) well then they are a bunch of animals. (not very PC i know but it's getting really stupid) It'll be the gang bangers that start the riots. They don't want to find themselves in Tookie's shoes someday.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Dec 12, 2005 -> 08:36 AM) Yes, YAS he does deserve to die, just like all of us. No one is immortal. How he dies Yep Arnold don't wuss out. Stand up for what is right and spare the execution. It will piss off your GOP faithful, you should be strong enough to handle that. Though shall not kill. I can't believe some people trust the government to execute citizens, even after so many death row inmates have been exonerated. Our legal system is not perfect, the death penalty can not be reversed when a mistake has been found. I'm glad YAS and Nuke believe our justice system is perfect, that everyone received a fair trial regardless of finances, that premeditated killing is fine as long as it is carried out by the government. Let's see. This P.O.S. has gone through the entire appeal process without any success. He's in the most liberal state in the nation, yet he's still on death row. But we might be making a mistake? I laugh at such crap.
-
QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Dec 12, 2005 -> 08:18 AM) Sorry, I oppose the death penalty. Under any circumstance. That's not the liberal in me. That's the Catholic in me. You know, I can respect that opinion. I just don't buy into the fact that this cold blooded murderer is an asset to society.
-
I can't believe some of you bleeding heart liberals. The dude is a murderer and a gang banger from hell. He deserves to die.
