  1. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 10:55 AM) I see someone alluded to it... the BIG scuttlebutt here in Dallas is that the Rangers dumped Soriano to make a genuine run at Clemens. The Rangers need to start BUILDING a pitching staff. Not slap a band-aid over the gaping wound they now call a staff. They are more concerned about putting butts in seats than they are about winning.
  2. QUOTE(qwerty @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 08:50 PM) I have barely been around give me a break. Last year i was on top of things before most people. You were also the first one to link to a previously started thread.
  3. Hernandez handles pitchers well and should help their pitching staff. Javy may get some pt at 1B.
  4. QUOTE(orangekrush88 @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 04:11 PM) Tonight at 9 PM on Spike TV and if you miss it they replay the show at 11 PM on Monday nights. Then AJ will be on Turning Point Sunday night managing Sonjay Dutt, Chris Sabin and Torborg vs the Diamonds in the Rough. And just to throw something out there, this may not end Sunday night, TNA is adverstiing an announcement on Sunday that would change TNA in 2006, one notable wrestling site is reporting that the announcement may be a sponsership deal going both ways between TNA and the White Sox. Why do I get the feeling that our man Brooks is all over this one?
  5. C'mon Timo! C'mon Timo! C'mon Timo!
  6. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 03:33 PM) I like Willie Harris and what he brings to the Sox. He can spot start at CF or 2B and hopefully will work on that SS thing. Having a player like Willie that can steal you a base or otherwise PR for a slowpoke standing on second when we need that winning run, etc, is apositive for the Sox. Willie is a good team player. I don't think it's wrong of any player to want more playing time. That shows their desire to win. Willie refused to go to winter ball to "work on that SS thing." I think he may have bought himself a one way ticket outta here with that decision.
  7. Yes. Even without Myers. Marte could no longer succeed here. He may go to Pittsburg and be lights out for them, but he wasn't going to do that here. Mack is exactly the type of ballplayer we needed on the bench and also offers some insurance if Crede goes down. We may have gotten more value for Marte, but I don't think we would have found a better fit for the Sox.
  8. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 10:05 AM) Thats my point That is a prime example of overvalue. Anthrax said it best. It's a prime example of f***ing dumb.
  9. QUOTE(Texsox @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 07:09 AM) Ouga Chaka ouga! .... OK old timers, without googling, what song does that open? Hooked On A Feeling
  10. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 03:41 PM) PA, I think their reaction is just a showing of what knee-jerk fundamentalism can do. Unthinking belief in anything (i.e. Muslim extremists, white supremacists, militia nuts, etc.) will lead to problems. Unpopular speech is the speech that should be most protected by the First Amendment (something on which I think we'll both agree) And I agree with your last statement -- I mean Hell, look at OBL, Falwell, Robertson, Dobson and Co. who all say they are spokespeople of their respective religions when they're nothing more than charlatans and cranks trying to bilk people out of money. Interesting choice of words as I thought their reactions were knee-jerk and unthinking.
  11. Dude! What was the point of that article?
  12. I really can't think of anything appropriate to say here other than ... Steff, you know that you and your family are still in the thoughts and prayers of a Soxtalk multitude.
  13. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 12:55 AM) For those who believe there is no justification at all for torture.... So if Johnny Jihadi is part of a terrorist cell and has operational knowlege of a major disaster such as biological weapon/nuclear/chemical that is going to be detonated in a major metropolitan area, there is no reason what so ever to give this guy the five across the eyes, or some other methods to get the information that could save thousands of people. Maybe we can give the family members of those people a letter letting them know that I know their family member died a horrible painful death, but we saved the right of due process of Johnny Jihadi. Sorry at times the humane thing is to save the masses from death and pain over one person. That person lost their rights when they decided to take actions to murder thousands. Not only can't we torture them with 5 across the eyes, but we can't humiliate them, deprive them of sleep, let them get cold, let them get hot, play loud music, insult their religion, insult their mothers, etc, so on and so forth and finally yada yada yada.
  14. QUOTE(valponick @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 03:32 AM) for Wilkerson, Sledge and a PTBNL. Thoughts? Yep. I think all this info you are creating new threads for has been discuss in other threads.
  15. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 03:05 AM) I thought we got Jenks from the rule 5 draft? Waiver claim, I believe.
  16. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 11:02 PM) Isn't everyone getting older! Only us lucky ones.

    Ebay

    QUOTE(knightni @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 10:00 PM) Except you have to change the # and name. But then you put it back on ebay and make some more cash.
  18. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 01:43 PM) We don't necessarily have to keep the guy on the major league roster. Granted I don't know all of the rules, but Houston took Will Taveras from Cleveland and payed them to keep the player. They then sent Taveras down to AA and obviously called him up for this season. Houston had to trade with Cleveland to get the right to send Taveras down without losing him.
  19. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 01:50 AM) Hmm, I missed that somehow. That's why I repeated the question. We still don'thave an answer.
  20. Great idea. Now ... Where would he play?
  21. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 06:56 PM) I think it's pretty important for the White Sox. Every win will count next year, and having Benson or Redman pitching gives them a better chance of beating us. They still won't be good, but they might take a game or two more. And that's never good. Those guys will also be pitching against the Twins and Indians.
  22. Without reading Stark's piece, here's what I think will happen. Clemens will pitch in the WBC. Then, he'll wait till May 1 and if the Stros look decent, he'll reup with them and start pitching for them about June 1 ... this way he'll be fresher for the stretch drive and playoffs.
  23. The Rangers have been throwing the names of Mensch and Nix around. I'd look for one of those two or Wilkerson to be move for pitching soon.
  24. Wickman reupped with the Tribe, eh? I was happy when they lost out on Hoffman. Now, I'm not quite as happy.
  25. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 12:40 AM) didn't hear anything about this. Great guy Ray King. Got the chance to meet him while his with the Braves. It's not gonna be easy for him at Coors Field. LOL. That brings to mind the old adage .... Be careful what you ask for.
