  1. I posted something weeks ago about the Twins and Indians both being interested in Frank. Mostly it was dismissed due to the 'rivalry' issue. Frank makes sense for either of those teams and if he's healthy he'll sign with whoever offers him the best deal. Rivalry be damned.
  2. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 11:22 AM) Incorrect, Jorge Posada was Drafted by the New York Yankees in the 24th round of the 1990 amateur draft. Then who in the hell am I confusing him with? A good hitting catcher that left the Bravos as FA and Estrada replaced?
  3. QUOTE(sufferingsoxfan @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 10:31 AM) I got mine for 25.00 It is really of a high quality. I am associated with School District 218 (Pat is a retired teacher from Richard's which is one of our schools). Let me make some calls and see if more are available. PM me if interested. I definitely want one. Should I go through you or the website? Does beings a Richards alum help my cause?
  4. QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 06:33 PM) Where are we getting this idea that BA is suddenly a proven Major-League player? From the .176 that he hit in last September? He hit 2 HRs in one game. Many players have done that and promptly gone on to career AAAA players. Stop judging him on a sample size of 34 AB's, or whatever. There's only one way to find if he's a ML player. No one has claimed he's a 'proven' one yet.
  5. Carlos is 'kicking himself in the face' for sliding into 2nd base like his grandmother.
  6. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 04:12 AM) If it's the Juan I saw in September and the early 2004 version, then I think it's an excellent move. We might as well try it anyways. If it doesn't work, Iguchi can just be moved back if we need it. That's a big 'if' but Uribe was a totally different hitter late in the year. Should be interesting.
  7. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 02:03 AM) Steff, from what i have heard Reinsdorf is a very loyal guy. He showed it with Konerko by letting Kenny pay big bucks to keep him. Is he loyal enough to re-sign Frank even if there is a doubt in his mind about his health. Like maybe an incentive laden deal. Considering that it'll probably be a few hours before she makes an appearance, from everything I've heard Steff say I'd guess the answer to your question would be yes. Of course, if I'm wrong, I'm sure I'll hear about it. Right Steff?
  8. QUOTE(Mplssoxfan @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 01:46 AM) IIRC, it was in Boggs' contract that he would go in the HOF as a Devil Ray. The HOF stepped in and said, "Not so fast, guys. We'll decide." I believe it was Jose Canseco that first had clause in a contract about the HOF cap. Then, Boggs.
  9. I've always banked on that if Frank could play again, JR would bring him back like Steff said. Listening to Hahn and Williams the last few days, I've had it the back of my mind that it's not over until JR says it is. We'll see what happens, but I'm betting that the next time Thomas puts on a big league uniform, it's be a White Sox uniform.
  10. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 09:13 AM) Someone in the Sox org opened their yapper about it to The Sun. I don't see the big deal.. it was one of baseballs worst kept secrets. I know that I said I had only heard about Pk's hip problem here at Soxtalk and had never seen anything in the media about it, so I questioned it at the time. You and others straightened me out on that.
  11. QUOTE(qwerty @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 04:49 AM) Glenbrook north... Gracias!
  12. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 10:32 PM) I'm f***ing sick and tired of reading about how liberals are trying to destroy Christmas! Me too. I just wish they'd stop it.
  13. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 11:18 AM) "officers might surround a bank, check the IDs of everyone going in and out" wtf? this kind of stuff is definitely a bad, bad idea. That brings back visions of an SS officer walking up and saying "Papers!".
  14. QUOTE(TheHawkaroo @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 01:59 AM) When they won those championships they were doing like he said, developing talent with guys like Jeter, Rivera, and Posada. But lately they have just been buying players and they haven't won even with that payroll. Jeter and Rivera, I'll give you. Add Bernie. Posada came from the Braves, iirc. Then they "bought" Tino Martinez, Roger Clemens, Kenny Rogers, etc etc etc.
  15. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 10:02 PM) Yankees keep trying to get big money players, unload them. Seriously, they need to learn baseball fundamentals on how to build a baseball team. They have no clue. Develope talent, be smart with $$, don't sign injury risk players to multi-year deals worth big $$. It's not hard. The team that has more World Championships than any other in professional sports has "no clue". That's rich.
  16. QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 03:58 PM) For as much as I cursed at Damaso Marte this year... I will stand up and say I would still rather keep him over Mike Myers. I'm still thinking about this one, but I'm leaning with you.
  17. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 03:18 PM) if the angels do ink konerko, i think you can throw those earlier kenny williams comments out the door. in other words, i believe the white sox will be big players for ramirez if konerko doesn't resign. That's an interesting thought. Are you hearing things in BoSox Nation or is this a hunch?
  18. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 02:47 PM) So i'm watching the show "1st and 10" and they reported a rumor that Torre is considering putting Jeter or ARod in center field to fill that void. They didn't make this up, but i can't remember where they said they heard this from. Probably some NY paper or something. Anyway, this is the most ridiculous thing i have ever heard. It was reported on ESPN radio this morning as well. Ridiculous? Not really. Ever hear of Robin Yount?
  19. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,176993,00.html This gives me a very uneasy feeling.
  20. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 10:54 AM) I'm sure he's been told not to talk about it at all. If so, declining any comment was the right thing to do. That's a helluva good point.
  21. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 10:55 AM) I think it is, but I could be wrong. You may be right. But I don't care.
