  1. QUOTE(Felix @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 02:24 PM) The White Sox will beat either one that comes. Personally, I am split. I think the Angels are the far better team than the Yankees (potent offense.. much better pitching staff.. amazing bullpen..), but my hate for the Yankees wants the Angels to win. My hate for the Yankees wants the White Sox to beat 'em.

  3. QUOTE(Reddy @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 01:37 PM) but then what happens to us 19 year olds who have still been sox fans our whole lives and been on this board for 2+ years? You need to hang on us older guys every post and consider us annointed ones who know it all.
  4. QUOTE(SoxRock192 @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 01:27 PM) For sure Knock. It. The. f***. Off.
  5. Yanks and Angels have been rained out.
  6. With the Angels, you are facing a team that is so much more like the Sox. So, it's a matter of which team does it better. The Yanks are more like the Red Sox. Dangerous line-up, questionable pitching. I'll take my chances against New York.
  7. QUOTE(hi8is @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 01:41 PM) im leaning toward hurt. I'm leaning toward mind-f***ed.
  8. QUOTE(SoxRock192 @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 01:01 PM) I put something in, I guess since your a mod you erased it right No. I didn't delete anything whatsoever.
  9. QUOTE(SoxRock192 @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 10:48 AM) :headshake Will you knock it off with those damn smilies. We'd hate to have to disable them.
  10. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 10:46 AM) We've gotta have something to keep us entertained the next few days while these other teams slug it out. What the hell. Have fun!
  11. Wakefield is in our rear view mirror. Let's move on, folks.
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 10:22 AM) Exactly! That's why myself, and so many others, were so nervous about a potential collapse that could have led to the White Sox missing the playoffs. That would have set back the franchise so much. Now, you get in the playoffs, and anything can happen. So far, so good! There's a lot of buzz with the White Sox now, and like you said, there will be a surge in season ticket buyers. For the record: I've been critical of the negativity on this site over the past couple of months. I want you to know that I did not consider you one of the culprits. You were "concerned", and you always had a well thought out reason for your concerns. I agreed with you in many instances. I take a positive outlook at things, but I am well grounded in reality. You may not have been quite as optimistic as me, but you certainly were not a bastion of negativity. Enjoy the rest of the post season.
  13. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 10:14 AM) Cub fans think. The definition of oxymoron, there.
  14. QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 10:19 AM) There's a huge part of this story that we really haven't mentioned: Marquee players are going to want to start playing for the Sox and Ozzie (especially latino players). That's a huge advantage we could have when it comes to free agency, etc. Not only that, but I now can't see how our payroll won't increase. Oh, the payroll will increase. Not only did we have the attendance jump this year, but we'll have a surge in season ticket buyers over the winter.
  15. QUOTE(SoxPhan7 @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 10:12 AM) I have been thinking about this alot too. And the only bandwagoners i want are kids. Maybe 15 and younger. That is the time in their life they are most impressionable and the time they become true life long sox fans. If we get the kids, the ball park will be full for generations to come and we wont have those obnoxious bandwagon jumpers. The bandwagon crew brings their kids. That's why we must suffer their presence.
  16. QUOTE(Reddy @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 10:12 AM) that means... what? It means he studies ancient history.
  17. QUOTE(redsoxjamie @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 10:09 AM) Probably not. You guys are good because you have a bunch of really good pitching, not because you have any one great pitcher. Buehrle, Garland, Contreras, and Garcia together make up a hell of a rotation, but individually, none of them is worth trading Manny Ramirez for. Also, the Red Sox already have 5 starters signed for next year (Schilling, Wakefield, Clement, Arroyo, and Wells are all under contract for next year), plus Jonathan Papelbon, who deserves to be in the starting rotation next year. So if they're in the market for a starting pitcher, they're going to have to find a way to get rid of somebody they already have. Dude, that pitching was too old to stay effective and healthy this year. But, what the hell, roll the dice with them again in '06.
  18. QUOTE(illinilaw08 @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 10:07 AM) 8 more wins. I am man enough to admit that with the last out there were some tears of joy. It feels just as good this morning. Woke up hangover free with the biggest grin on my face. THE WHITE SOX ARE GOING TO WIN THE ALCS!!!!!!!!!!!! Here, let me fix that for you. You left out a word.
  19. QUOTE(Reddy @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 10:04 AM) i would never give up the pitching that BEAT boston, for the hitting that LOST with boston Shades of 2000-2004
  20. QUOTE(redsoxjamie @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 09:55 AM) Let me chime in on this as a Red Sox fan, if I may. . . The main problem with Manny to the White Sox is not his attitude. Believe me, with 45 HR and 144 RBI's, you get used to it. He's a pain in the butt, for sure, but he is one of the most productive, if not the most productive, hitter in the game. The problem is that you guys don't have anything that the Red Sox are going to trade Manny for. If the Red Sox are going to trade Manny, they're going to want somebody who can at least come close to matching his offensive production, and you guys don't have that. The Red Sox have the 2nd highest payroll in baseball--they don't need to dump Manny's salary. (Unlike the Rangers trading A-Rod--they WERE being limited by A-Rod's salary, and even they demanded Alfonso Soriano, who is far from "nothing".) Regardless of how badly they want to trade Manny, fans in Boston are going to be PISSED--myself included--and they're going to have to have something to show for it. You guys just aren't a good "match" for this trade. Just my opinion. Total agreement. Happily so, as well.

    Hey hey

    QUOTE(ChiSoxFan @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 09:48 AM) Sportscenter was practically doing funeral coverage of the Red Sox last night. If the Angels can beat the Yankees today, mass hysteria could ensue. That's exactly what happened. The didn't focus on the Sox winning, they focused on the Red Sox losing.
  22. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 08:57 AM) You can argue back and forth about how you determine who the 'best' team is, but I know this: we OUTPLAYED the Red Sox in this series. Since it's a competition, that is what ultimately matters the most. On paper, are we a 'better' team than the Yankees? Probably not, but I have NO fear of playing that team. They don't play the games on paper.
  23. We need to flood espn with emails saying that there is no curse, Sox fans don't claim a curse, don't believe a curse exists. That is just too Cub-like.
  24. QUOTE(Colorado Sox Fan @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 08:49 AM) These guys seem to have the right attitude and are saying the right things. They're looking for more. I don't think this is just a case of "media speak". I think this team has their focus right where it needs to be.
