QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 09:44 AM) I don't take anything personal except of course for example aboz's and yasny's posts which are directed at me, personally. Nothing personal beyond the fact you're a Red Sox fan. It was intended in a good natured way.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 10:11 AM) We made the first mortgage payment this weekend. A whopping $76.47 went towards the principle. But, it only gets better.

I'm a smoker. Sorry to have to say that, but I am. I take the attitude that if a particular location, whether it be a bar, a restaurant or every place in the city or state, is non-smoking, I'll play by the rules. I won't smoke in the Cell where it's not allowed and I won't smoke, or b**** about it, in a restaurant or bar that's smoke free. It's my problem, not anyone else's.

Great accomplishment. Congrats!

With Houston's pitching staff they are going to be dangerous in the playoffs. I look for a StL - Hou NLCS again.

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 2, 2005 -> 04:38 PM) This is redandwhite the baseball fan, not the red sox fan. you can say whatever you want about the red sox, it really doesn't bother me, but when it's wrong i'll discuss. afterall, thats what these boards are for. The White Sox paved the way for the Red Sox to get into the playoffs. Now we are going to take them out.

I really like our chances with the Red Cubs. Hope I'm right about that. We'll see. As for NY vs. LA, I would lean toward wanting the Yankees. One reason is that, Yeah, I just want to beat the f***ing Yankees. But, all that aside, I think I'm more concerned with LA's pitching and defense than I am with NY's hitting. I believe in the old adage that good pitching beats good hitting. I also believe in the other old adage that good defense wins championships. The Yankees are filled with good veteran players that have been through numerous post seasons, and that's not something to take lightly. Still, I like our chances against them better than LA. But, we have to get past the Red Cubs first.

I like our pitching staff vs. their pitching staff. Period.

QUOTE(chisoxfan79 @ Oct 2, 2005 -> 08:57 PM) Does anybody know Marte's career numbers vs. Ortiz? According to ESPN.com ... Marte has not even faced Boston this year. Don't know about his career vs. Ortiz though.

QUOTE(greg775 @ Oct 2, 2005 -> 09:06 PM) With the Sox playing airtight, first-half-style ball, they reduced the Indians to what they [sox] had been in recent weeks before finally clinching the AL Central title: pressing, wheezing losers --This guy has the best job in the world. He can call the Sox the Wheeze Sox and chokers for weeks and write away, then pull a "never mind" and call the Indians the biggest chokers. He sucks. Simplistic bulls***. That's the best assessment of mariotti that I've ever seen. Good job.

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Oct 2, 2005 -> 09:33 PM) wednesday at 6? Ouch. Lost is on at 8, hoping for a blowout! WHAT?!?!?!?!?!?!? I cannot believe what I just read! (To paraphrase Jack Buck)

Sabathia made the same mistake Dimtri Young made. Maybe they can watch the playoffs together.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Oct 2, 2005 -> 11:59 PM) If ever I see an analyst question the Sox starting pitching, I think I'm gonna snap. 4 starters with ERAs below 4, 4 starters with 14 wins or more, and just sick numbers in the last weeks of the regular season. It's our f***in' time. I really believe that this is our time. There is something about this team that is "special". No superstars, yet the best record in the AL. Just a bunch of damn good, solid, ballplayers...... with a chip on their shoulders.

QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 01:12 AM) The sad reality is a pessimist will always have the last laugh unless the Sox win the World Series. The sad reality is that the Sox have had a fantastic year the was totally unexpected and the pessimists were too busy being pessimistic to actually enjoy one the best seasons the Sox ever had. There's a bit of ironic justice there, I think.

We need to play White Sox baseball. That's all it will take. Good pitching, good defense, aggressive baserunning. If the White Sox do that, they'll win the series.
-
Those brought tears to my eyes. Thanks Guys! Damn. I love my White Sox!!!!!
-
This will not be a walk in the park type series. These guys are not the World Chanps for nothing.

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Oct 2, 2005 -> 11:15 PM) KW,very well job done getting us and your first divison title since 2000. Lets hope we can have contiuned sucess in the playoffs... what ever happens, just remember getting to the playoffs once is easy..lets hope this is a start of good things to come....I like this kind of being proven wrong.

Paulie needs to go deep tomorrow. He's sitting at 99 RBI.

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 03:53 PM) Since the playoffs are in a couple of days, I'm talking about now...not last month or the month before. If El Duque is feeling much better and pitching better RIGHT NOW, why not go with him? And you are basing this on one f***ing inning. I'll take the consistancy shown by LV over the last 4 months, thank you.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 03:40 PM) How did I know this thread would lead other posters into picking a fight with redandwhite? :rolly I think R&W started the fight picking.

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 03:41 PM) Vizcaino's performance today impressed you more than Duque coming in for an inning and getting 2 K's?...and that was after Viz had given up a hit, I believe... You are comparing innings. We are talking about months.
