  1. Ozzie rested Iguchi against Greinke. Did you happen to see Harris' numbers against him? That explains it, as far as I'm concerned.
  2. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 02:34 AM) The whole organisation has been telling me for about 3 years that these are the numbers Crede should be putting up...maybe even a little bit more in the power category, but I just don't see it. His swing just gets too big for too long, and it takes him too long to correct it. He's a .250 hitter max, maybe .240 career even. I can't argue with you. You may be 100% correct. Still, I have a feeling that Crede can be a good one. I can't even put my finger on why I feel that way.
  3. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 02:16 AM) Just because I'm curious, it's late, and I wanna start conversation... How solid do you think? .250 20 70 .750 OPS and like top 3-5 defensively in the majors, or perhaps better than that, say around .275 25 100 .825 OPS and still the same range defensively at his peak? Or somewhere in between? I also agree very much on Everett. Perhaps a decent 4th OFer as his career winds down, but I don't invision much more than that. .270 or so 20-25 HR 75-90 RBI
  4. I still think Crede is going to prove to be a solid ML 3B. I think Jurassic is quickly approaching the end of the line.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 01:18 PM) I agree, but that hasn't stopped Big Oil's lobbyists from exploiting this national tradegy to their own ends, both as justification for future price increases and as a reason to pursue more drilling in other areas. If anything, this should serve as strong evidence that no matter what promises the oil companies give that there will be no environmental impact from their operations, the reality of unforseen events (natural and manmade) is an entirely different matter. So we should stop supplying our own oil?
  6. QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 10:46 AM) I see green. Can I take you seriously? O_O No, Manny Ramirez was not meant as a serious answer ... unless you take his bat into account. I'll go along with DBAH0. Defensively, Brian Anderson will do just fine.
  7. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 10:45 AM) Pods gets bad reads, and has been bailed out on balls to left center by Aaron a few times. But his speed in the outfield generally allows him to make up enough ground. But good speed alone doesn't take away the fact his arm isn't good enough for a corner position, and someone like Brian Anderson would be a better player there defensively right now. But I can live with Pods defensively, with what he's done to this ballclub offensively. Impeccable timing, my friend.
  8. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 10:41 AM) were you saying that when he was jumping into the crowd to get a ball. Or with a diving web gem on ESPN. He is better than what we had, and had ONE error. He gets to more balls, and had ONE error. Sounds pretty solid to me I've also seen Rowand cover his ass on a few occasions. I've seen him get late jumps and misjudge balls that resulted in "web gems" because he had the speed to recover. Pods ain't bad out there, don't get me wrong. He's certainly not great either.
  9. QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 10:34 AM) Well just curious, who would you rather see out there in left field? (Hypathetical question, talking about left field, not a leadoff hitter/basestealer) Manny Ramirez
  10. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 10:36 AM) Eh, i wouldn't say i regret it. I still had a hell of a time. This year i'll just know not to try to outdrink everyone :rolly You should have spent the past year in training. Then you could give it another shot, so to speak.
  11. QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 10:30 AM) Well I am a fan. I know a lot about baseball, but not enough to make me a critic on player performances. But in what I've seen from Pods, I've seen amazing plays, few errors, and obviously great speed. As far as him not getting good jumps on balls, maybe I'm missing that. The only time I can really recall that happening was last night. Fair enough. Just watch with a more critical eye in the future. As I said, he's adequate, but he's no defensive wiz out there.
  12. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 10:28 AM) The Angels hit better than us. They do the things we are supposed to do. Colon is also a shutdown type pitcher. Someone posted something yesterday ... a column on the Angels ... The angst regarding the Angles lack of clutch hitting and the pitching questions could have been written ver batim about the Sox.
  13. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 10:27 AM) But the wife doesn't like the idea of a two month old baby being used for autographs and pictures :rolly :headshake What's her problem? How many times are you going to have an opportunity like this?
  14. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 10:25 AM) Oakland has better pitching than the Angels. But I would rather face Oakland. They cant hit, and the Angels can. The angels are probably the most dangerous team in the playoffs because of the sheer amount of ways they can beat you. I would rather face Boston/NY/Indians/Oakland before I would face the Angels. It's kind of ironic that the Angels are the team that Sox are most often compared to.
  15. QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 10:21 AM) Well we talk about his errors. He hasn't made many. And I see so many Aaron-esque catches from him that I'm impressd. Jeez, everything has to be perfect with some people. I am hardly the quasi-critical Sox fan. I don't look for perfection, but I was trying to give an honest evaluation of Pods, defensively. Basing your argument on the number of errors is like saying Carlos Lee was a gold glover last year. He wasn't.
  16. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 10:12 AM) I agree with Chaos. If the Sox can go and win both series against Cleveland, that will give them a HUGE lift going into the playoffs. I also think this is a team that is built for cooler weather. Running, bunting, sacrificing, etc. That's more how you score runs in the playoffs than in the regular season. See Marlins, Florida. D-backs, Arizona. Walk-offs are great, but most games are won on singles and sacrifices. Those teams were able to execute those plays, consistantly. Since Pods hit the DL, they haven't been able to effectively make use of the small ball and the pitching has hit an extended rough spot. They have to straighten this out, or we'll be toast.
  17. QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 10:09 AM) Well his "rep" obviously doesn't tell the truth. I've seen a great defensive player. Not as good as Aaron, but very solid. Man makes one or two errors and everyone jumps on him. Show me a great defensive player who has a history of NO errors and I'll show you a lie. Have you watched him judge flyballs? Play balls off the wall? No way is Pods "Great" defensively. He's adequate, at best.
  18. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 09:37 AM) s***, we beat him earlier this season, and we will beat him again. Santana vs. El Duque. I'm confident.
  19. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 10:04 AM) I guess everyone forgets that he only had ONE error going into last nights game? In all honesty, Pods has left something to be desired defensively. So has Dye for that matter, and he was considered a good defensive outfielder prior to this year. I don't know what his problem is out there, but Pods came in with a less than stellar defensive rep.
  20. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 08:40 AM) Thanks for letting me know I am not a Sox fan. I guess I should be happy and dancing around that they are choking and looking completely listless on the field. :rolly No one said you or anyone else should be happy about the way they are playing. But if one of those quotes are yours, well ... if the shoe fits, then by all means, wear it.
  21. Ozzie's biggest problem is that he tells the press too much about how he does things. Every time he does, somebody here always thinks it's the wrong thing. He should do whatever it is he's going to do and keep his mouth shut about it.
  22. "Bail on this team" "Why should we give a s***?" "Anyone still gonna be a Sox fan?" What a wonderful bunch of die-hard Sox fans! Sox fans my ass.
  23. QUOTE(Mercy! @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 12:54 AM) Dear Mark, You know how ol’ Hawk incessantly compares you to Jim “Catfish” Hunter? Well, when Catfish first came up with the Kansas City A’s, there was a saying in his locker: “Winning isn’t everything, but wanting to is.” It’s looked to me lately that you and your buddies hardly even WANT to put forth the effort required to win. Just remember today: even if KC steals your signs; if one of their pitchers doctors the ball; if the low numbers of Sox fans in attendance don't meet your expectations – even so, you boys should STILL beat the lowly A’s like a drum. So no more complaints - just do it already! Best regards, Mercy Dear Mercy, The A's no longer play in Kansas City. They moved to Oakland a few decades ago and have since been replaced in Kansas City by the Royals. Sincerely, YASNY
  24. Wasn't Canada colonized by the French? Just asking.
  25. QUOTE(mreye @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 09:55 AM) Wow! Sounds like Marte needed his mommy.
