    Marte

QUOTE(The Critic @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 11:49 AM) Well, then I'm just gonna STOP, DROP and ROLL, BAYBEEEEE!!!!!! I never heard nobody say "Children, if you ever catch on fire, STOP, UNZIP, and FLOW".... LMFAO!!!!
  2. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 11:46 AM) There are two times that I remember being blown away by a patriotic song. That was one of them. The other was by the woman who sang God Bless America at the first game in Chicago after 9-11. One of the best at singing the national anthem is, believe it or not, Toni Tenille. That lady can belt it out.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 11:43 AM) sorry, but two years' worth of Mike Remlinger impressions have soured me on Damaso. I'm hoping that a few rounds of boos ( AFTER the s***ty performance, not before ) might inspire the Powers That Be to go out and get a lefty who can get people out, or AT LEAST to try the one who HAS BEEN FIRST! ...and I don't want nobody pissin' on me, maaaaaaaaan....... I'm soured on Marte as well. But this is the time to put ALL of support behind ALL of the players. Save your boos for Soxfest if he's still with the team. And if you were on fire, you might have a different perspective.
  4. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 11:42 AM) I don't care WHO he sings for, he is the best there is. Besides it was singing at Blackhawks game that really made him famous. I would love them to bring in Wayne Messmer. The NHL All Star game at the start of Gulf War I ... Spine tingling.

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 11:36 AM) Also I for one am not booing Marte. Im booing Ozzie for using him in that situation. How the hell can you justify booing anybody associated with this team? Damn, some of you people that call yourself Sox fans. I wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire.

    Marte

QUOTE(daa84 @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 10:35 AM) For those of you who are lucky enough to be attending these games, I hope you enjoy yourself (unfortunately i can't get out of Nashville to make it to the games), but I also hope you use your head and don't boo marte should ozzie be dumb enough to use him in a crucial situation. yes, the decision may be bad, but you have to realize that the crowd support in this type of situation really does make an impact. while i realize it didnt work for graffanino, that is the type of oviation i would hope marte would get if he comes into the game. Who knows, maybe itll help him get back to what he was 2 years ago, but please, be smart and don't boo. I agree. Marte will be introduced before the games. DON"T BOO THE GUY!!!
  7. QUOTE(Randar68 @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 10:31 AM) Who the hell the Yankees got in CF? Tony Womak? Case in point I suppose. Also would be interested in signing Matsui if the Yanks do indeed fail to negotiate a new contract by the deadline... In a New York minute, so to speak.
  8. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 10:25 AM) where is Man Soo Lee from?...does he count? Of course ... add Korean to the list.
  9. QUOTE(Hawk @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 10:19 AM) I think Randy Newman said it best. I LOVE L.A. I can;t wait to see them on no rest run through this ball club tonight. The Angels are no joke and Contrerras won't make it past the 4th. That offense is going to be smoking tonight. Prediction Go troll elsewhere.
  10. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 10:18 AM) Ok, let me rephrase it for those that are pretending to not know what I'm asking. What does Ozzie say to his team? I played sports, not on the pro level, but coaches DO talk to their players before games and try to motivate them. Win you Venezuelan, American, Cuban, Japanese and Dominican pieces of s***. Did I forget anybody?
  11. QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 08:27 AM) Byrd is on 3 days rest, and warmed last night.. I like our chances. As do I.
  12. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 10:13 AM) Thx buzzkill. No charge.
  13. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 09:19 AM) Michael Jackson and family are ACTUALLY from Gary Indiana FWIW, or about 30 miles from Chicago. Still, it's Indiana.
  14. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 10:10 AM) What do you say to your team to pump them up for this series? Let me hear your speech. If we win, we go to the World f***ing Series. WTF? They need to be pumped up?

    The Widge

Widger has been everything the Sox hoped he'd be for them this year. You couldn't ask for a better backup catcher.
  16. They mentioned that of ESPN's 10 "experts", 7 picked the Angels to win. Relax.
  17. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 09:24 AM) There is a serious hole in this entire thread. And its relying on Dye's production to continue at this pace. Do you all realize that this year was basically his most productive and healthy since he was in KC? 2004 137 games .265 23 80 2003 65 games .172 4 20 2002 131 games .252 24 86 2001 61 games .297 13 59 (Oak) 2000 157 games .321 33 118 (KC) there is no real trend of Dye being healthy. It was one of the reasons that he was let go from Oakland. He had one of his first real healty seasons this year. But according to his history, we shouldnt expect another season like this. That "serious hole" was mentioned in post #169 of this thread, thank you.

    KW Article

You'd think that with the Sox in the ALCS, Ledewski would be able to write a meaningful column. This is garbage.
  19. QUOTE(kevin57 @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 09:30 AM) I think that's a little too fatalistic. A split, yes, is essential, and of course, I would love a 2-game lead going to LA, but I wouldn't count a split as a loss. Confidence! A loss doesn't occur until LA wins 4 games, but a split wouldn't instill much confidence around here.
  20. They say this "worse drought in 40 years" is caused by global warming. Maybe so. What caused the one 40 years ago?
  21. QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 04:40 AM) It was covered with frost and snow. But the guys were on the ship looking for medicine for the sick chick.. if the temp drop had happened (it hadn't and happened as they were running back to the museum) they would have been dead. If you watch it again, notice that others were walking the streets on their way out of the city as they were boarding the ship. You are 100% correct on this. In fact, in the book, the wolves where frozen at the library door after they just missed "dinner".
  22. That's good stuff! A. J. became one of my favorites very early in the season.
  23. QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 09:42 PM) There must be a reason why Jenks doesn't throw his knuckler in game situations. It's probably due to the fact that he can throw a 102 mph heater instead.
  24. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 03:22 AM) Matsui's been the Yankees best clutch hitter in the middle of that lineup over the past 3 seasons. I can't see them getting rid of him, especially when poor pitching and defense were the main problems for them in the series. There is always a chance he just wants to get the hell away from the Bronx Zoo. Doubtful, but who knows?
  25. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 03:14 AM) Nice post, Yasny. I won't even pretend that I've never gotten pissed off or questioned some of the moves made by Ozzie this year. I feel I have that right as a fan. That's all. I know I'm no expert. I also realize beyond a shadow of a doubt that Ozzie knows MUCH, MUCH more about the game than I do. But I don't think it's so wrong to give imput as a fan to what Ozzie is or isn't doing. Now as far as the personal attacks on Ozzie, you're totally right. That kinda stuff is just stupid and really uncalled for. Thanks. And yes, you do have the right to question his moves. No doubt about it. I question some of them at times, as well. However, I generally recognize the fact that Ozzie has much more information about the players and knows infinitely more about the game than I can ever hope to know. I know this much, though. As Ozzie was making some of his "stupid in game decisions" over the course of the season, I would step back and look at the big picture more than just the current situation during the game. I could see what he was trying to do, in a general way. I didn't know if he'd be successful at it, but as that bullpen came together and guys like Cotts and Politte stepped up and produced, his questionable decisions were validated in my mind.
