    Scotty beamed up.

    James Doohan, who played Scotty on Star Trek, has passed away.
  2. I think Jeckle just turned into Hyde.
  3. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 10:25 AM) The offense has been much more consistant then people give them credit for. I think people get the feeling that they've been inconsistant because they don't score a ton of runs at the beginning of games and everyone here starts freaking out in the game threads. Next thing you know they put a 3 spot up in the 7th inning. Yes, but can we put up a 3 spot against the 7th inning reliever of the Angels like we do to the Royals' guy? That, my friend, is what I'm worried about.
  4. QUOTE(CubKilla @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 10:24 AM) Rehab is for quitters Don't give up. Don't ever give up!
  5. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 10:23 AM) Jason Schmidt is crap outside of a Giants uniform and always has been.... HE IS NO LONGER ON STEROIDS HE'S NOT AN ACE! THE FACT IS THAT HE WOULD HAVE AN ERA WELL OVER 6 IN THE CELL... But Felix Diaz will thank you when he's back on the team because either he or El Duque is injured... Man i'm sick of you bandwagon fans who don't follow baseball who bring up stupid trade ideas just because the guys name is famous... NO MATTER HOW MUCH WORSE HE IS THEN ANYTHING WE HAVE... I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO JUST IGNORE IT BUT YOU GUYS ARE PISSING ME OFF, SOMEONE HAD TO SAY IT! JASON SCHMIDT IS OVER, AND IF IT WASN'T FOR BEING INTRODUCED TO BERRY BONDS AND BALCO HE NEVER WOULD OF BEEN! PLEASE GET A FREAKIN' CLUE! Did you want to say something?
  6. QUOTE(DABearSoX @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 10:22 AM) It still amazes me how many people think dye can be an everyday first baseman.......he played one game at first, and played it a little in the minors.....idiots Agreed. That's just dumb.

  9. Considering that Justice Ginsburg was overwhelmeingly approved, even though she is a flaming liberal, maybe the damn Democrats need to take the high road that the Republicans took during her nomination. It seems the Republicans didn't worry about the philosophical standings of Ginsberg. Maybe the powers that be in the the Democratic Party need to worry a bit more about being "uniters and not dividers".
  10. Considering that I saw Mantle, Mays, Clemente (The man does not get his due.), Aaron, Bench, Seaver .. yada yada yada .. all the greats from the mid 60's forward, I'd have to say Williams, Musial, Cobb and Shoeless Joe.
  11. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 09:33 AM) This team could win the WS as is. It could lose in the first round as is. We don't know, but we better hope like hell that KW does. If we win it all, nobody will complain about anything that we do/did. But if we lose, a lot of people will be here to say that we should have done something...and in that case, they'll be right. My point is that none of us know what's going on. We don't know that we need a trade, but we don't know that we do n.o.t. need anything. Someone says we need a trade, that person gets berated. Someone says we should stand pat, that person gets berated. Nobody knows, so maybe we should all get off of our high horses. I like the view from up here.

  13. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 08:59 AM) I've never understood the whole 1st ballot thing. Does the player suddenly get better the next year? Either he's Hall worthy or not. To me it seems silly when I player gets in on the second or third try. It is what it is. That's the way things have evolved over the years.
  14. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 09:03 AM) You guys are in rare form the past few days.. Well, I had to give up crabby.
  15. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 09:00 AM) Bottoms up! Whoa! Deja Vu.
  16. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 08:59 AM) I was crushed. I was 16/17 and it was the only home I ever knew. It was like losing a part of my childhood. Plus the replacement park only made it worse, it was so sterile after the character and intimacy of the old lady. I felt the same way .... brother.
  17. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 08:57 AM) Could use a little more... but I can't complain too much. ^^^^^ I use that line quite often.
  18. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 08:57 AM) I figured out what our problem was yesterday... No "De-Troit Sucks" chants They didn't suck yesterday. We did.
  19. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 08:56 AM) Oh my.. My face puckers Say that 3 times fast.
  20. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 08:54 AM) This set up was too easy.. You've seen it.. is it...? Honestly ... not bad at all.
  21. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 08:45 AM) Careful YAS, you know how sensitive Mrs. Steff is about bottoms No, I didn't. Is this a BIG deal?
  22. My sentiments exactly. The all time greats, not the all time very goods. Raffy WILL make the Hall, no doubt. In my mind there is also no doubt that he'll be skipped over on the first ballot.
  23. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 08:41 AM) LOL... exactly Bottoms up!
  24. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 08:38 AM) It is amazing what beer costs. I can never understand the people that complain about ticket prices, but always have about 10 beers at the park. After 4 or 5 beers, it all begins to make sense.
  25. QUOTE(Wedge @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 08:12 AM) If we don't make the trade, we still have a chance at something here. Giving up 3 pitchers (although one is designated and one is somewhat estranged), just doesn't seem like a good business decision (think the Ritchie trade). Think of the 25 man roster. You'd be losing Contreras and add Schmidt. If the scouts think Schmidt is near the Schmidt of old, then I'd pull the trigger on the deal.
