  1. From the end of Rozner's column today:
  2. I can't disagree with them.
  3. My girlfriend's son goes to A&M. There are bars that cater to the college crowd. In other words, Cheap Beer!
  4. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 20, 2005 -> 05:22 AM) It does......but it also runs through the panhandle of TX. Only reason I know is because I spent a lot of time on it on my way out to AZ. So, now you know why I "hedged my bet" on my post.
  5. QUOTE(kapkomet @ May 19, 2005 -> 03:19 PM) This is the first time I've said anything on these forums about this but I have a cousin that's over there right now in the Sunni Triangle. Some of the stuff she's sending is amazing - the work that our soldiers are doing. It's not all roses, they are in some pretty difficult circumstances over there right now. But, the portrayal of certain things are just plain not right. And I'm glad I'm getting pieces of the truth. She can't say a lot because she's one of the higher ups, but I'm encouraged by her tone every time I get an email from her. Sorry about the appearance of an edit there, kap. I hit edit instead of reply. None of your words have been altered in any way. It's not uncommon to hear a returning soldier say that what the media portrays is only telling a small portion of what goes on over there. They are certainly not reporting all the good things the US troops are accomplishing. They are more worried about reporting on flushed pages in Gitmo.

QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ May 19, 2005 -> 01:10 PM) I've heard from a few people Lake Cumberland in Kentucky is a pretty nice place to visit, especially if you like to water ski...have you ever been there? Can't say that I have. Cumberland is WAY east. Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley are in the western part of the state. The dams used to create the lakes are located about 5 minutes from each other. Then there is the area known as Land Between the Lakes, or LBL. Google it and poke around the web.
  8. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 19, 2005 -> 11:48 PM) I know the speed limits on I 40 are 75 MPH. Is that the same throughout the open areas of TX? Just guessing here, but I think I-40 runs through Oklahoma.
  9. QUOTE(Texsox @ May 19, 2005 -> 05:51 PM) But we are trying to build bridges with average, normal, sane, Muslims. We cannot write off the entire population. Point granted. But ... since these people in Gitmo ARE the enemy, people that have tried to kill Americans ... I really don't care if we "offend" them in way, shape or form. So, let's hypothetically say that this going on in Gitmo. What possible reason could Newsweek have for even reporting it? It is not torture. It is not inhumane. It doesn't even cause the prisoners to break a sweat. The only reason Newsweek could possibly have for reporting it is cause outrage against the US in Muslim nations. As far as I'm concerned, the problem is not that we are doing it. The problem is that Newsweek reported it. True or false, they should not have reported it. Unless, of course, they want to take their happy asses to Tehran and open a corporate office there.
  10. No way would I bet on a horse named Kuch. That's way too close to Koch. You know he'd have to suck.
  11. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 20, 2005 -> 02:38 AM) As solid as Santana is I dont see a collapse like that on the horizon for him. Way I see it is that everyone has a bad day. He had his bad day and Garland will have one sooner or later. No doubt. Santana is not suddenly going to suck.
  12. 50 K's in 160 official ABs. Ouch!
  13. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ May 19, 2005 -> 07:31 PM) That's while I'm enjoying my last few years before the "real world". I did take a dollar an hour paycut, however. That's gonna start to takes it's toll after this summer. It's not all about the money though.. Enjoy it while you can
  14. I'm approaching this series with a bit of trepidation. If you remember a few years ago, the Cubs were playing very good baseball and a struggling Sox team came in and swept them. It was the start of huge downward slide for the Cubs that they never recovered from. The Sox need to take this series, besides the fact that it certainly helps in the pennant race, but it could define the rest of the season as far as which team is in the spotlight in Chicago.
  15. Nothing much has changed. I thought it was a pipe dream two weeks, and I still think it's a pipe dream.
  16. I really enjoy reading these interviews with our minor leaguers. It let's them know they are not toiling in oblivion and there are fans that follow them and hope for their success.
  17. QUOTE(Princess Dye @ May 19, 2005 -> 12:44 PM) it is kind of amazing how everyone was crazy about him not so long ago and now he is residing below whale s*** in the Sox consciousness Deservedly so.

QUOTE(Steff @ May 19, 2005 -> 08:52 AM) Not wanting to go quite that far.. 385 miles ... south on I-57 to I-24 east. Beautiful Kentucky Lake. About 10 minutes from my front door.
  19. BigHurt35, you make some very good points. I stated at some point that anyone who would pull this flushing Quran pages was stupid. But, on second thought, I change my mind. Ok, so it would be a PR nightmare for us in Muslim countries. However, we are also at war with Muslim terrorists. "Desecrating" the Quran is not torture. It's not inhumane. It does, however, hurt their feelings. Awwwwwwwwww. Too f***ing bad.
  20. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 19, 2005 -> 07:55 AM) So where do Joe Jackson and Ed Walsh rate? Ah, the memories.
  21. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ May 19, 2005 -> 12:09 PM) Thanks for stating the obvious No charge.
  22. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ May 19, 2005 -> 12:03 PM) Pin this mods.... I am 1-0 when I start game threads this year So you started a game thread on one of their 29 wins, as opposed to one of their 12 losses. I'm impressed
  23. Tie goes to the runner is a fallicy. No basis for that whatsoever.
