  1. This series means more to the fans than it does to the players, and rightly so. The players should be getting up for a series against the Twins, not neccesarily the Cubs. However, the big raucous crowds should get our guys up as well.
  2. QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ May 19, 2005 -> 11:52 AM) My dad always used to tell me that Ted Williams had great vision and could supposedly see the spin of the ball better than most. Hawk was talking about this in a recent broadcast. He asked Williams when he could pick up the spin on the ball. Williams said he could pick it up as soon as it left the pitchers hand. Hawk said that he could pick up about 5 feet in front of the plate. Ted Williams vision capabilities are legendary.
  3. I still say that we shouldn't be in any hurry to sign AJ long term. I love the guy, now. He's been great. But he came with a lot of baggage. I think we need to make sure he's the AJ we think we've got, as opposed to the AJ the Giants thought they had.
  4. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ May 19, 2005 -> 11:24 AM) man would I love to gvet Chavy. He's even better than Joe at D too which is sayign something. He's one hell of a player who is just weeks away from taking off. I don't really believe the rumor as I think the A's would wait until he starts hitting again to increase his value. Same deal with any Mike Lowell rumors to other teams Mike Lowell lost a ball in the sun yesterday and took it in the face. I don't know how extensive his injuries are, but he left the game. I stated in another thread a couple of weeks ago that Chavez would not be on the market, for the same reason that Rosenthal mentioned in his reply. I just don't see it happening.
  5. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 19, 2005 -> 05:45 AM) Jose Mesa, Game 7 of the ALCS vs. Yankees... 'Nuff said. Game 7, 1997 World Series vs. Florida Marlins.
  6. QUOTE(Steff @ May 19, 2005 -> 05:15 AM) No offense to Mark.. but not a chance. Frank and Fisk are waaaaay above him, and a few others are in between at this point. I agree, but Mark is making his way on up the list. Of course, I've got a few more ex-White Sox to include in my list than most around here.
  7. I have to agree. It is looking more and more like Timo will not have a place on this team very much longer. I've not been a Timo basher, nor a Timo fan. I've accepted him for what he is, a reasonable backup outfielder. Hopefully, we can find someone in need of a veteran backup outfielder and trade him without having to eat his salary by cutting him.
  8. QUOTE(Texsox @ May 18, 2005 -> 12:37 PM) What kind of movie is it if a KY *wink* Theater won't play it? Mary Poppins.
  9. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 18, 2005 -> 04:11 PM) The deal was supposedly Garland, Singleton, AND 2 minor league pitchers for Erstad. :puke I just read it in the Sunday Tribune last week. As they say, some of the best trades are the ones you don't make.
  10. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 18, 2005 -> 06:12 PM) I missed the part when he wasnt Check out Jeremy Reed and you'll see that it's not a sure thing by any stretch. Possible? Maybe.
  11. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 18, 2005 -> 04:49 PM) So how was Ozuna's defense at 3rd base in place of Crede? It would be nice to have a solid defensive backup with a decent bat in case Crede keeps up his horrible slump. He had an error in judgement on a swinging bunt. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he charged the ball with no chance of getting the hitter. If he would have waited at third for the ball to come to him, he might have gotten a force. DJ pointed this out during the game and I think he was right.
  12. The Dye is cast for a Sox sweep at Wrigley.
  13. QUOTE(Dam8610 @ May 19, 2005 -> 02:07 AM) If this is "the" AJ thread, can we at least change the title to "A.J. f***ING PIERZYNSKI"? One of the PHT or global mods will have to do that. I'm a SLP mod.
  14. Cotts must have read all the b****in' on here about walking guys. He threw 19 pitches today, 15 for strikes. Wouldn't shock me to see Norton or Borchard called up.
  15. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ May 19, 2005 -> 02:01 AM) But he deserves a thread. We have had threads on Buerhle, SHingo, Garland, El Duque, Count, Gooch, Pods, Frank, Paulie, Hermy, Marte, Vizcaino, Botch etc etc But none for AJ... Apparently, you've had the honor of starting "THE" AJ thread. Congrats.
  16. There is plenty of AJ love scattered thought PHT.
  17. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ May 19, 2005 -> 01:51 AM) Konerko pulled each of his three hits. But he also hooked a few drives that landed foul. Should he try to hit to the opposite field more often? "I'm a pull hitter," Konerko said. "I've been a pull hitter since I was 5. That doesn't mean I can't hit some balls the other way. ================= I hope we do not sign this guy in the offseason. :banghead http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...-home-headlines In my opinion, any player that is slumping should try to hit up the middle. It squares and centers everything up for you.
  18. QUOTE(greg775 @ May 19, 2005 -> 12:32 AM) I hope it's not a full 20 game rehab if his ankle feels fine after a week. Why 20 games?? Just like earlier, I don't think they want to raise expectations too much. I'll know Frank's back when Ozzie puts him in the line up.
  19. In my opinion, there is no question that Frank's a HOFer. Slam Dunk.
  20. What a great time for Dye and Konerko to break out of their slumps. I'm still concerned about Paulie because he's still pulling everything. Dye has been hitting the ball hard for two games. He may finally be ready to add some offense to this team.

QUOTE(DABearSoX @ May 18, 2005 -> 10:09 AM) Ok then I propose a new rule...... You cant post anything that you wouldn't tell the player to his face..... You never know, they might be reading the posts here from time to time.
  22. Very cool. THe Sox getting respect in Chicago! Whodathunkit?
  23. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 18, 2005 -> 09:42 AM) This one......... Silly me. I forgot about their closer.
