Awful Experience at Sox Park (Cellular Field)
YASNY replied to southsideirish's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 05:11 PM) Corona is terrible. Tecate or Dos Equis are way better. Don't care for Corona and haven't tried Tecate. But I like Dos Equis and Sol quite a bit. -
Sox @ Royales with cheese (4/23 @ 6:10 p.m. CT)
YASNY replied to Jabroni's topic in 2005 Season in Review
This game had LOSS written all over it. How the hell did we dodge that bullet? -
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 11:14 AM) My hope is someone wants Rodgers bad enough and makes an offer. All 3 backs will be there plus Mike Williams (or so I think). If not all 3 backs then Braylon and 2 of the backs (with Miami taking Ronnie and I don't see this happening). JA is going to wait till the very end and listen to every and any offer. I think Minnesota will get Miami's pick and take Edwards.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 11:02 AM) Same here. We aren't going anywhere. The Bears will select fourth. I think they will if they can. I believe that's the Bears preference.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 10:57 AM) 3 Minutes until the 49ers are officially on the clock!!!! They are on the clock! I love draft day!

QUOTE(T R U @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 10:55 AM) I dont really agree with that, its a new season.. I wouldnt just already concede the division to the Twins.. I'm not conceding anything. I'm saying they are the champs and until they aren't the champs, they are the class of the division.
-
QUOTE(Soxfest @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 10:52 AM) He is an jerk says Sox will not make playoffs and Twins are class of division. The Twins ARE the class of the division, until proven otherwise. He's reasons for the Sox failing were what showed his lack of knowledge.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 10:49 AM) YAS, the stolen base is the obvious one but I was talking about what other things Scott does when he's on the base paths. He messes pitchers up, period, that's really the best way I can describe it. We've seen a few pitchers and catchers get sloppy while he's on base because they're worrying about him so much. Then there's those runs where he hits a little infield single, moves up on a bouncer in the infield, steals 3rd and then scores on a wild pitch, those things are just so degrading for the opposing team. That, my friend, is the threat of the stolen base. That carries more in my mind than the stolen base, itself.

QUOTE(Nokona @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 10:50 AM) I wanted Fisk as a manager for these reasons. Someone who will come right out and say it whether it makes you, billy, buerhle, or harold reynolds uncomfortable. That's old school. That's what we needed. Hey, I'm all for that.

Ordonez calls Sox skipper his 'enemy'
YASNY replied to South Side Fireworks Man's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 08:37 AM) So let me get this straight -- you want every Sox player to go off like Ozzie did when some slight comes up? Reacting is one thing. KW's response to Mientkewfsiozdngnez about the All-Star Game was great. Clever and pointed. Or how the Bulls responded to Gilbert Arenas's comment about 'dirty players' -- noone popped off calling him a pos ten times. What Ozzie did was throw a hissy fit. He needs to grow up, and I'll be disappointed if this "example" becomes the standard practice on the team. Read the whole post. That explains my position. -
QUOTE(Soxfest @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 10:42 AM) i NEVER HAVE BEEN A rOWAND FAN. But you are a huge fan of the caps lock key, I see.

QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 09:44 AM) Agree 100%, hope that doesn't catch on. Garciaparra is now "The Groin".
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 10:26 AM) No offense to willie cause I have nothing against him but he's no where near the player scott is. Scott does so many things that doesn't show up in the stats to help a team win games. Nothing against Harris here either, but those stolen bases is something that DOES show up in the stats. That's the big difference between Harris and Podsednik.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 09:20 AM) The fact that you say you'll never say anything bad about Rowand just means that you won't admit when he's doing bad. Also, were there many threads about Rowand last year?? I don't know because I wasn't here, but I would guess not. Maybe, just maybe, Crede is having a breakout year similar to Adrian Beltre. I forgot though, half of this board is one big Anti-Crede Propaganda and 80% is Pro-Rowand Propaganda. It seems that there are rules against calling certain favorites out. There were many many dump Rowand threads during the first half od last season. Those people were wrong, and they are wrong now.
-
As I said in another thread, I love Ozzie's attitude. The White Sox have been too complacent for too long. Shades of Ghandi. There's nothing wrong with a little fire in the manager's office. If Ozzie's got a chip on his shoulder and won't take bulls*** from others, then maybe the team will play ball with same attitude. I think that's what Ozzie's trying to instill in this team. He may embarrass the organization from time to time. This Maggs deal is not one of those times. Magglio f***in' asked for it.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 10:22 AM) No doubt. Brantley says the sox have bullpen issues that will show up later in the season :rolly And I think he's looney as can be. The Sox bullpen is set up for the long haul. We 4 or 5 guys that can close. You can't get much better than that in the bullpen.

We DO need tougher border controls. Drastically tougher.

Freedom. That's just some people talking. Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose.

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 12:10 AM) Spitting, tossing pies, dousing with salad dressing are all poor ways of getting one's point across. The differentiation betwen Fonda and Coulter is that Fonda is able to speak about her points without calling her opponents "monkeys" etc. (Yes, I have read "Treason" -- some of the funniest stuff is when she has the 1919-1920 Red Scare taking place in the mid 1920s and butchers history so very hardcore...by putting events in the wrong years) and there she has a slight one up on Coulter. But your point about Coulter is well taken since they promote promote anti-American actions and domestic terrorism (i.e. Coulter suggesting that it was a tragedy that McVeigh did not blow up the NY Times building) Well, if I had to make a choice ....

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 12:04 AM) How about something from the veterans themselves, CK? http://www.veteransforpeace.org/Did_protes...spit_050803.htm One pro-war Vietnam-vet claimed he was spat upon in uniform, though he didn't specify the circumstances of the incident. While there's little doubt that some Vietnam vets in uniform were spat upon during those turbulent years, no proof exists that antiwar protesters were the spitters. Jerry Lembcke, an associate professor of sociology at Holy Cross and a Vietnam combat veteran, has written a well documented book, "The Spitting Image: Myth, Memory, and the Legacy of Vietnam" (New York University Press, 1998) that thoroughly debunks the tales of protesters "spitting upon" Vietnam vets. Lembcke conducted extensive research to ascertain that there were no contemporaneous news reports or police complaints lodged to substantiate the claims that began appearing in the media about 1991. The perpetuation of such myths only blocks the healing of Vietnam veterans from our "culture of victimization," and it serves the agenda of those pro-war forces who place fear and intimidation in the path of open debate on the pressing issues of the moment. Of course, the holocost is only a myth too. :rolly

The question so obvious that noone thought to ask
YASNY replied to jackie hayes's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 04:10 PM) Hmm -- to each his own, I guess. I haven't seen Jones have one year where he's dominated. Then again, I was a pretty big fan of Anthony Thomas, too -- and people questioned that. Has A-Train signed with anybody yet? -
Redskins interested in Bears #4 pick
YASNY replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
The guy I've been hearing the Bears are interested at if they get that#25 pick is Auburn QB Jason Campbell. -
QUOTE(farmteam @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 04:48 PM) Just to clarify, the Cubs were last in the World Series in 1945--they played the Tigers. The only reason for that was that all the good players were off fighting the war. These were basically a bunch of replacements.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 01:55 AM) Not really. There was a point behind it. A lame one.
