No. The concensus on the board is that Garland is only a number 5 starter. That was a "wouldn't it be great if Garland was our number 5" type of situation. In Aug or Sept of last year, I compared Garland's numbers with the number 3 starters of all the teams still in contention in the AL. Garland compared on an average to favorable basis with all but Westbrook of Cleveland. Yes, even Garland's "Judy type numbers" were very comparable to number 3 AL starters, and better than the number 4 guys.

I'm sure that if he gets 20+ starts, some of those incentives will kick in. He's probably pretty close on those numbers.

I agree. The Yanks will probably try and get the players they need to complete an RJ deal from the Sox or some other team, then work a separate deal with Zona

I would say it's a fairly safe bet that Vazquez is moved before spring training. He effectively killed this deal that King George so badly wanted. He also failed late season for the Yankees. I doubt he'll ever wear Yankee pinstripes again. To follow up that thought, he might come cheap if KW wants to swoop in and take him off their hands.

Of course you can't expect every pitcher in the rotation to have career years all at once. But, I believe the point is that each of these guys is capable of acheiving those win totals. That in itself it quite a stunning thing to say about a White Sox rotation.

When they traded AJ, they had every reason to believe Mauer would catch for years to come. As for money now, they are trying to lock up Santana to a multiyear deal, and rightly so.
