  1. Which gives the Marlins options. Sometimes a shorter contract can be a positive rather than a negative. It all depends on the team and their circumstances.
  2. Actually, in 2000, 2001 and 2002 Dye played in a minimum of 157 games. I'd say that proves he's capable. Last year he played in 137. Anyone can have an injury from time to time and Dye's had a couple of freakish ones. It's not like this guy has a chronic, recurring problem. He'll be fine.
  3. Oh hell. Stop Bulls***ting this guy!
  4. How 'bout them Wildcats! Seriously, they have to do a lot more to prove themselves to me after that UNC fiasco.
  5. This column by Jayson Stark has several rumors.
  6. They may do something, but not what's being reported.
  7. I believe Hinski would play first. I think the Jays were looking to do that this coming season.
  8. Batista, Hienski and a prospect are not woth it. They have to do better than that.
  9. He's positive he wants the hell out of there.
  10. Everybody seems to be ignoring this quote in regard to Wells.
  11. Good for the Reds. That would be foolish on their part.

I have to admit, I went and looked at all the numbers and Ortiz is a better pitcher than I gave him credit for ... I also thought he signed for more money than he did. You make a good case.
  13. Then the question becomes .... Would you rather have Johnson or Hienki, Batista, a prospect, Garland and Anderson.?

Yep. That trade sucked, didn't it?

Have you seen the salary pitchers are commanding this winter? I mean the Russ Ortiz signing was sick. Leiber had half a season in NY and he's signed a gauenteed 3 year contract at 8 million per. Garcia is a bargain. He'd be pulling in 12 to 13 million on the free agent market.
  16. Usually, you're pretty well on the ball with player evaluations. But Larkin was over the hill 3 years ago. He still wants to give it a go for another year and you gotta admire him for that? Robbie wants to give it go for another year. So does Sandy Alomar. Admire them, ok. Acquire them? No thanks. Same with Larkin.
  17. This sounds like something KW would do. He's been interested in Batista for a while. If he can get an above average prospect in the deal, he just might pull the trigger.
  18. I can't argue that point. But still, I like our Constitution.
  19. There's a reason for that. See my last post in the "Sox talking to Oakland" thread.
