  1. I don't think I overestimate any of their trade values. Just saying.
  2. No doubt. And more than Furcal and a prospect for PK and JG. :rolly
  3. That's a possibility. But sometimes, a guy just "gets it".
  4. Now that the whole of Soxtalk is officially on the Joe Crede Sucks Bandwagon, I'm going to say right here.... Joe Crede will be a valuable member of the Sox for the next 5 years if they decide to keep him.
  5. The Twins do one thing better than the Sox. Win ballgames.
  6. I think Wright learned how to be a pitcher, rather than a thrower, this year.
  7. Why not. They earned it. In fact, I'd love for the Sox to sit in their home dugout and watch that celebration. The Sox have earned that.
  8. So Hawk and DJ are whiney asses. You know what? We also should be whining and screaming and crying and b****ing about this pathetic bunch of losers and chokers we've been saddled with for the last four years. Keep Thomas, Rowand, Buehrle, Garcia and Garland ... then back up the truck.
  9. Let me put it this way. When the trade was announced my very first thought was "Wait, did they forget to mention Brian Giles?" That is the honest truth. I remember reading the ESPN bottom line ... The Chicago White Sox traded P Kip Wells, P Josh Fogg and P Sean Lowe to the Pittsburg Pirates for P Todd Ritchie ..... and I'm thinking the next words to scroll would be .... and OF Brian Giles. I thought we got reamed from the first second I heard the details of the trade, and I still do.
  10. Coming from you, I take that as an extreme compliment. Thank you.
  11. Sometimes the thinking part of baseball is so simple that it amazes me that they can't seem to grasp it. When you are in a slump, take your BP and plate appearances and work on hitting the ball hard up the middle. Make the pitchers forehead "a target". If you are focused on that, you are not trying to jerk the ball out of the park. You are focused on the baseball and trying to "center" your swing.
  12. Well we can't give up. We have to keep trying to lose him.

And 1 poster that thinks because John Kerry has changed a light bulb (lightbulb?) it makes him qualified to be POTUS.
  14. I'm 46 years old and every person I have ever known that regularly rode a motorcycle, with only one exception, has been involved in some kind of serious accident. I won't get near the things. The one exception is my ex father-in-law. He rides a Honda Goldwing and is a stickler for care of his bike and for safety. He's also a retired sherriff's deputy who's witnessed his share of fatal accidents.
  15. Some humans can actually use their brains to reason out the best course of action to take in a given situation without reacting instictively. No, players do not have the right to violently attack someone that hurls a few words in their direction. Fans that get too beligerant should be escorted out of the stadium. A player should have the right to insist on that occuring. What if that ladies husband was a drunk moron and pulled a gun and fired it in the direction of the mob of Rangers players. Players should NEVER go into the stands or attempt to engage with a fan, unless it is purely an issue of self defense or defense of a teammate or umpire. You've got to use some common sense out there, as there are a lot of crazies in this world.
  16. Start him at B'ham and assuming he performs up to expectations, promote him to the Knights. He will need to learn how to overcome that challenge before taking the mound at the Cell. But, by all means, keep this guy as a starter. Regardless of level.
  17. I like the Rangers. And since I have a Dallas area girlfriend, I'll probably be moving there and seeing a few more games at Ameriquest. I hope the Rangers continue to like and play well for Showalter, as I'd like to see the franchise have some success. But, yes, history does suggest otherwise.
  18. This guy sounds like the Twins version of a Cub fan. Oh wait ... someone already mentioned moriatti.
  19. Even is Koch rebounded to his old form, I don't think Sox fans would ever cut him enough slack to let him pitch here. I think this is one experiment that should never happen.
  20. They can if, by trading Konerko, they eliminate one or two other question marks, or deficiencies, with the probabilty the Gload will have some success, based on what they have seen of him.
  21. To start with, wasn't the Fordyce trade a Schuler deal? I though KW took over after the 2000 season, and that trade was definitely during the 2000 season. Regardless of how some of these trades actually turned out, you have to look at the thought process at the time the trade was made. What the intent was, and the past histories of the players involved. And what could be realistic expectations of the players involved. For example, the Colon trade. The Sox got a guy who had been a proven ace and 20 game winner for Osuna (who was a decent set up guy), Biddle (young long reliever-spot starter) and that lefty hitter who's name escapes me now, but never amounted to anything. He got an ace without cracking into his starting lineup, rotation or any top prospects. He HAD to make that trade, it was so one sided. There is no way he could have forseen Colon pitching in such a disappointing fashion for half a season, but his value was established by the FA contract he signed with the Angels. Then the Foulke, Koch trade. Keith Foulke was gonna be gone. He attempted to get a proven closer that would be around for a few years. Sound thinking at the time. What happened to koch's fastball after he got here is anybody's guess, but I can't critisize the thinking process of getting a contractually bound proven closer for one we were going to lose. Even the David Wells trade was sound thinking. We needed an ace after the rotation self destructed at the end of 2000 season. Look at the Clayton deal. How many people were screaming that we couldn't get by with a SS that made 36 errors. He got a proven defensive SS for a minor league pitcher that never panned out. However, the Ritchie trade there is no defense for. That was a bad deal from day 1. The Berry/Barry incident? BFD. He learned a lesson and it did not burn the White Sox with the net results. The Everett and RAlomar deals didn't help much, but didn't hurt all that much either. They were worth a shot last year. This year, Everett was an attempt to replace part ot the lost Thomas production. Alomar? I'm still trying to figure that one out. Singleton for Harris. How can anyone call that a bad trade? People were begging the Sox to get rid of Singleton. SAlomar for Pacheco? ... We allowed the Rox to rent Sandy for 2 or 3 months. How can that be a bad trade? All in all, I can't really find fault with too much that KW has done. Some were questionable. Some just didn't pan out. The Ritchie trade was just purely moronic.
  22. I don't think that remark was intended that way.
  23. I don't think they are planning on abondoning the power game completely. You cannot do that and succeed in the AL. However, they need to be a more balanced team. There is certainly a need for more speed and defense, even at the sacrifice of some power.
