  1. Excuse the hell out of me.
  2. Whoa! Easy there, Hoss. I'm not dictating anything. It's an expressed opinion.
  3. All the people wanting to give up on Garland must be passing a pipe filled with some damn wicked stuff in it. I can't believe that people can't see what a damn good pitcher this guy is going to be.
  4. Save room at that table for me and dish me up a plate of crow. I wrote Houston off earlier too. You really have to give Scrap Iron a lot credit for turning that team around. For them to even grab the wildcard lead, whether or not the actually win it, is one hell of on accomplishment. Hat's off to the Atsros.
  5. Redandwhite has been a good poster here and I hope he continues to be one. Though, he still has that annoying habit of calling that Boston team the "Sox". Again, redandwhite, check the caps and the home uniforms to see which team is the "Sox". Both sides of this got a bit too close to a personal level, imho. I hope everyone just puts this little spat behind them and goes forward from here.
  6. Must be good genes. Welcome to the board Mr. Mac
  7. This has to be the FutureSox Board Thread of the Year!
  8. You wouldn't be the type to hold a grudge, would you?
  9. Walker knew he was going to be a bench player, yes. He also has recently said that he didn't know how difficult it was to be a bench player and he'd to find find a place to play regularly next year. That's an honest assessment. Hardly chronic complaining. However, Walker is very weak defensively at 2nd, which is his primary position. There is no way in hell you want to try him at SS. People would be begging for the return of Jose Valentin for defensive purposes if we did that.
  10. For some reason, I doubt it.
  11. True. We have been saying that through the minors years. But, that isn't a fair and true reflection on Crede or his abilities. Evilmonkey's point is more valid.

    the count

This is where Ozzir should just lay down the law ... "If you shake off one pitch, I'm coming to get your ass."
  13. That still doesn't mean that we can assume that there is a bunch of money coming in from this deal.
  14. Hmmmm ... Do we now have a Judy Contreras?
  15. Ding Ding Ding!!!! We have a winner!!!!!
  16. If Garland has no value, as it was implied in this thread, why are we hearing that thr Rangers are going to offer a "special player" for him. There's something here that just doesn't compute. Personally, I think a lot of people are under estimating Garland's trade value and drastically over estimating Soriano's value as a ballplayer.
  17. I haven't seen anything that indicated that the TV deal would create an immediate revenue stream. It's a start-up operation that will probably take awhile to become profitable. This isn't a case that the Sox are selling the broadcast rights to the games. They are part owners of this endeavor. People keep assuming that because of this TV deal that Sox will be able to increase payroll by 10 to 15 million dollars, yet I have not seen the first snippet of information in the media that indicates this will happen or that it will be a financial windfall to the Sox. There seems to be an epidemic of people inhaling noxious fumes around here lately.
  18. Even if the Twins go into a nosedive, the Sox have shown a tremendous ability to let opportunity slip right through their fingers. Predictably, the have started playing a little better now that they feel winning the division is such a longshot that the pressure is no longer part of the equation.
  19. No one jumped in to push for Catalonotto? What's up with that?
  20. I detect a lack of appreciation for tradition.
  21. We have too many pampered millionaires as it is. It's good Ozzie's toughening these wimps up.
  22. That's for sure. Mazzone has proven for over a decade just how good he is at what he does. If they every open the door of the HOF to pitching coaches, Mazzone and Johnny Sain should first in line to get in. Before some of you are too quick to dismiss Jaret Wright, he finally may have learned how to pitch, rather than throw, from Mazzone. It would be a gamble but it might be worthwhile if he comes cheap enough. He's relatively young and does have that cannon hanging from his shoulder.
  23. I was wondering if, possibly, this relief appearance for Garland was a "message" from Ozzie.
