  1. That's one hell of an honor, BMac. Congrats!
  2. Why do we expect more from Garland than Grilli? 1997 MLB Draft
  3. It's too early because he has 20 something at bats in the majors. If they judged Willie Mays on his first 20 at bats, he'd have been released. Robin Ventura also. Can Valdez help us next year? Possibly. But it's still too early to know if he'd be an asset or a flop.
  4. One year - Bonds, of course. Longterm - Pujols. No brainer. Derek Jeter? C'mon. That is nuts. If Jeter had been in Milwaukee or KC all these years he's been in New York he'd be considered just another decent shortstop. I'll even give you "above average". But to be the first choice to build a team around? Not in this lifetime.
  5. I'll take you're a new Sox fan, right?
  6. That's interesting, because prior to this year I'd say Valentin was one of the most underrated players. But, this year he really sucked.

    CREDE

Crede is still worth holding on to. Of course, so many said we should dump Konerko and Rowand during the past offseason. And yes, our catching situation needs a SERIOUS upgrade.
  8. In general, I think the sac bunt is a bad play. There are certain situations where it makes sense, but in the AL those situations a few and far between.
  9. I see most of you are ranting toward KW here. I see it 100% different. It looks to me the KW is trying to be diplomatic about things.
  10. I feel that unless JR loosens the purse strings, that we will have to trade either Konerko or Lee to restructure the team as it needs to be done. I'd love to keep them both.
  11. Yes, it's too early to judge Valdez.
  12. I agree. Ozzie still has to prove a thing or two, yet he deserves the opportunity to do so.
  13. I mentioned Torborg as a possible in another thread. I think he'd be a good fit.
  14. I think PK"s got PLENTY of trade value. I just don't think that a few hits here at the end will enhance his value much, if any.
  15. Does this actually shock anyone?
  16. I really don't think a good streak here at the end will raise PK's trade value much. GM's know what Konerko is. It might work with fans, but I doubt it affects the opinion of any GMs.
  17. So let's get talks going with the Brew Crew and get Ben Sheets. In fact, I hereby proclaim this as an unfounded rumor. This will allow Steff to shoot it down.
  18. The definitive answer to this question is ...... Harry Chappas. He was a Sports Illustrated cover boy in spring training, totally hyped as the next coming of Luis Aparicio... then hit bottom so hard there was a distinct, sickening, thud.
  19. Just where did you make that point? :rolly
  20. Ozzie is what Ozzie is. He's never shy about expressing himself to the media or anyone else. The players know that Ozzie won't say anything to the press that he doesn't say to their faces. So far, I haven't heard one player express anything about Ozzie that has been negative. I don't have a problem with Ozzie telling things like he sees them.
  21. He's having success now. Let him stay right where he is and then come into spring training with some confidence. Whether he ends up starting or in the pen next year, him having success at this level, and maintaining it, can be huge for him in regards to 2005.
  22. Why don't we let the regular season end, see what kind of moves the team makes and then start bashing the KW and the Sox. That would be the fair way of doing things.
  23. I think it was Stanford.
  24. I agree with you on that premise. I was just looking at Gload, and Gload only. I have stated that depending on the package received, that moving Konerko and inserting Gload at 1B could very well be advantageous to the Sox.
