  1. Lyle Lovett was the lucky bastard who became "Mr. Roberts".
  2. What is this board coming to? *Sigh* Congrats Aboz.
  3. So did the rest of the team in that first game. What's your point?
  4. I think having Diaz start off with Olivo is a good decision. If Diaz is going to be in a comfort zone with a catcher, I'd rather it be Olivo than Sandy. Olivo is stepping into that role as our everyday catcher more and more. No need to set the process back by having Sandy become Diaz's designated catcher.
  5. He sounds like WAY too many Sox fans, if you ask me.
  6. Kudos to Paulie. It would be nice to have his clutch bat back up to par. maybe this is the beginning of a long hot streak for him. C'mon Paulie, put some of that hurt on the Twins this weekend!
  7. I'd make this deal in a heartbeat. Then I would actively pursue Beltan. You lose the salary for Maggs, Valentin and Koch and you have enough to pay Mulder and Beltran. I don't see any reason we could not pull this off.
  8. Check out Ledewski's column in the Southtown today.
  9. I really wish we'd just forget about all the "negative media" crap. It's really getting unbearably old.

    Curious George?

Why are we having to look at all these disgusting pictures? I see enough of Chip Caray on WGN.
  11. Regarding the lack of blood. Does anybody remember the name Clint Malarchuk (sp?). He was a goalie with the Buffalo Sabres that had his carotid severed by a skate blade. There was no lack of blood in that grisly scene.

    Mouse balls

    And oldie. But a classic.
  13. Gun control works, Nuke. It worked just as Hitler hoped it would in Nazi Germany.
  14. Neither Buehrle or Loaiza is the type of pitcher you can count on to be a stopper, in the classic sense of the word. So, I'd have to say that they aren't really a top of the rotation combo. They have the potential to be so, but as of yet they have not shown the dominant consistency to be considered that highly.
  15. The Sox still have a way to go to prove they are better than the preseason pundits predicted them to be. Until that happens, if it does, you can expect to see this type of "analysis".
  16. I have to agree with him. Johnny Bench was the best. And I say that grudgingly as I hated the Big Red Machine and Carlton Fisk is my favorite player.
  17. Maybe he's closer to being washed up than I was aware. I haven't seen him pitch this year. I mean, who watches the Mets?
  18. There are very few of us that actually can appreciate the value of Jose to the Sox.
  19. Hell. That would be a front page story for the Trib.
  20. Fortunately, Jiminez is just a small blip in the memory of Sox fans.
  21. "That Rangers guy" !!!!!!!!!!! Hilarious. I'm not talking about putting Ventura into the starting line up, that's for sure. But he's a class act and still can be a productive backup at 1st and 3rd. Hell, I can't think of many people I'd rather see in the batter's box with the sacks full of Sox. Robin kinda had a knack for that. I like Gload. But as a lot of people said, he's been a AAAA player his whole career. He may do just fine but he certainly hasn't proven anything yet. I feel the Ventura can be more of an asset to the Sox than Gload. However, as far as "bang for the buck", Gload is probably our best bet.
  22. Good call .... my mind had already gone back to the days of Horlen, Peters, John, Pizarro, Buzhardt, etc to try and come up the answer to that question.
  23. Trading off Koch and/or Konerko in a deal for Glavine should put him in a "net $5million" catagory, depending on specifics of the deal. Whether he puts butts in the seats is not the main concern here. Glavine would qualify as an ace that has had post season success and is not the usual washed up variety of big name players the Sox have historically acquired.
  24. For the record, ESPN's bottom line reported that Koskie has been placed on the DL.
