  1. We'd have the deal done by now. Evans and Williams should both be fired.
  2. In my case, the wrong line of work picked me.
  3. LOL ... Ok, enough of us patting ourselves on the back here.

Jason has talked of many scenarios involving LA and the Sox. I think he's right on track. Maybe PK and Jose .... for Perez and Mota and/or Itzirus (sp?). Off course, we may throw in some prospects to get all 3 guys.
  5. Perez for Konerko seems like a perfect match up to me. We want pitching, they want hitting. Konerko and Perez both had bad years after performing well in 2002.
  6. Since nobody gives this any credence whatsoever, I'm not going to bother to read the link. Thanks for saving my time.

Probably in the same deal. I can see Evans making a trade for these guys. He wasn't around last year to see them play.
  8. ESPN reported tonight that Batista had accepted that offer.

I think he'll be traded to LA. He just seems to fit their needs, and I don't think KW ever had any intention of keeping Valentin when he picked up that option.
  10. Wow. I'm amazed that someone actually agrees with me on this one.

Will we be OK with Harris? Don't know, but we need to find out. I don't think Valentin will be with us by ST, so that $5Mill is a moot point. And Robbie Alomar didn't show me much when he was here. Sure he solidified the defense, but he's fairly well progressed on his downhill slide. I can only forsee him getting less useful.
  12. Actually, I think you'll see Konerko and Valentin go to LA in the same deal. Just call it a hunch.
  13. I was thinking that in that ballpark, he might actually be decent. And if the man gains a little confidence, he just might do well.

Duly noted and filed away for future reference. Sorry to hear that the fed you then told you about it being bad. Leave it management to screw things up. Glad to have you around this time of day. It's usually kinda slow in here.
  15. I don't see this as the Yankees ripping off LA. In fact, I see it the other way around. Now, Brown just may win the AL Cy Young next year, he is capable. But, over the last 4 years he has averaged 10 wins a year at $15million per. I do not find it at all inconceivable that Jeff Weaver wins 10-15 games in each of the next two season, and with cash LA got in the deal, that clears about $18Million from payroll the next two years ... which they can use to add other players. Sounds like Evans actaully made a very good deal to me.
  16. If that's the case, then it's only posturing for the sake of negoiations. Which, by the way, is a fairly common business practice. That's the American way, folks. No big deal.
  17. Who gives a crap what Cub fans have to say about anything the Sox do. Screw 'em. And, I'm with Jason on this. Signing Estes to a minor league contract is a no lose proposition. If he stinks it up in ST, cut him or send him to AAA. If he pitches decent, then ............. ah, what are the odds?
  18. Willie Harris vs. Roberto Alomar. Wow. An incredible discussion, but it does have its merits. Roberto Alomar rates right up there with Joe Morgan and Ryne Sandberg as the greatest 2nd baseman I have seen in my lifetime. No doubt about it. He may have been better than both. But, Robbie is a shell of his former self, or at least he has shown that the past two seasons. Willie Harries will never be a Robbie Alomar. However, today, right now, I'd rather have Willie Harris on my roster than Alomar. Robbie is going downhill and Willie does have an opportunity to improve. Yes, Alomar is still a better player, but that may change before the All-Star break. And to Hex Rudler: Dude, Rex is one of the most respected members of Soxtalk, and I'm sure that you will find that your bastardization of his good name will be found offensive to many of us that post in here. I politely suggest that you may want to consider something different. Thank you.
  19. If KW does do something big, I have the feeling that it will appear to us the we are "taking it up the ass, unlubricated". Since, he has to clear payroll before adding any, I'd say that this is a virtual certainty. However, it will be the first move only. Let's see what transpires over the course of the off-season before we go ballistic.
  20. First, let me say that this great news for the Sox, for Mark and for Sox fans. Mark goes out and does his job and does it rather well. Second, I hope this finally puts to rest all the b****ing about him being a Cardinal fan. He has now demonstrated his loyalty to the Sox to the same degree the Sox have demostrated loyalty to him. End of story. Third. The same people are b****ING about this deal just like they b**** about everything else the Sox do. Typical. Fourth. To the person that was ragging Steff. Please lay off, she a classy lady. Thank you.
  21. It's either allow it to bore me, or be frustrated because the sox are doing nothing. Stress kills, so I chose boredom.
  22. Now that's one way to increase your post count. Start a thread that has been previously discussed. Then post an apology. Ingenious. joking with ya.
