That's been rumored since game 3 of the World Series.

His number have been on a steady incline until 2003. Was 2003 the beginning of a downward trend or an abberation. I'd be inclined to think it was the latter. Hmmmm .... two different uses of "incline" in the same post, yet with different meanings. Sorry, strange things catch my attention sometimes.

Ncorg, that was a clever post that you obviously put some time and thought into. Kudos to you. But, I would love to know that since "Goo" is gone, that we let the issue rest from now on.

In 2002 Maggs had 38 HR and 135 RBI with a .320 BA and a .978 OPS. I'd say he "reached" that level.
-
Koch pitched for Art Howe in Oakland. The Mets are also in negatiations with the A's pitching coach, who was Koch's pitching coach also. They sound like the perfect sucker to pull this "sting" on.
-
Carlos is damn good, but that's stretching it a bit. IMHO.
-
I just can't see the Yankees having even the slightest bit of interest in Konerko. They've got no place to play him.
-
I believe I read somewhere that if Frank exercises the option, then he will also void his 10/5 rule no trade rights. Is this, or something similar, correct?
-
I think he meant to say, "But NOT for minor leaguers or the bullpen."

.291 with 31 HR and 113 RBI. Damn you're right. This guy sucks. What was I thinking? Yansy, quit overexagerating. At no point did I say that he sucks, I simple said that he might be a little overrated by some Sox fans. The fact is that OPS is probably the best single stat to measure a hitter, and Lee's OPS of .830 is only slightly above average and not all that impressive for a corner outfield, yet you make it appear that he is the best thing since sliced bread(if you overexagerate then so will I). I would argue that Maggs(.926 OPS) and Thomas(.952) were ahead of Lee as far as being the best/most productive offensive players. I would hate to lose Lee, but a solid middle infielder is harder to find then an average offensive corner outfielder, and it is that simple. If Seattle throws in a solid pitching prospect you have yourself a fair deal for both sides. It is that simple if you look at things from a realistic perspective. Ok. let's look at this situation. You call Lee a one-dimesional OF-1B-DH type. Yet, he led the team in RBI's despite being bounced around in the lineup. He led the team in stolen bases. He improved his game defensively by an impressive margin this year, as well as his overall baserunning savvy. When this team was struggling early in 2003, playing lethargic, unispired baseball, Carlos Lee was busting his ass trying to make something happen. Anything from diving catches to agreesively running the bases to take an extra base. Hardly a "one dimensional" player. Now, what I'm going to say here is in no way an exaggeration. In my opinion, Carlos Lee was the most valuable non-pitcher on the White Sox in 2003. I restate: No thanks, I'll keep Lee.

I know that. But Nick Johnson is worth giving up something for. Fullmer will always be, well, Fullmer.
-
Yes, the same Minnesota Morons that had the highest payroll in the AL Central last year. Look it up.
-
Brad Fullmer is average, at best. Nick Johnson has a chance to be VERY good.
-
The reality of the situation is that they do have a payroll budget set, and they will work within the constraints of that budget. That is a cold hard fact. If Magglio would listen to a renegiation offer perhaps the Sox could offer him a $40 Mil, 4 year extension with $4Mil deferred over the 4 years of the extension. So, effectively, they'd be paying him $10M this year and $11M each of the next 4 years. If that could be done, then yes, we should certainly keep Magglio. But $14Million this year, plus a potential loss to free agency at the end of the year, is just not fiscally sound for this particular White Sox team.
-
We'd have to be able to play some defense, or the Twins would still win it. And if we don't win it this year, it may be awhile. KC and Cleveland are both getting better. I look for the Tribe to make a drastic improvement this year.
-
Just so there are no misunderstandings, this is NOT a prediction. Just something I'd love to see happen. It can happen, too. But I'd guess 2005 for that first 18 game season.

When it comes to the Yanks, you have to throw sense out the window. If the Boss has his eyes on a stud RF and is convinced they should move Soriano and Johnson then that is what is going to happen. Will it solve the Yanks, HECK NO, but half of the stuff they do is absolutely ridiculous. All I'm saying is if Soriano for Beltran is a possibility then I see no reason why Soriano for Maggs wouldn't be a possibility. Soriano for Maggs is a distinct possibility. But adding Konerko for Johnson in there, well, I just don't see that happening at all.
-
Pavano would be a very nice addition to our rotation, IF we are able to sign another quality pitcher.
-
Biggio did play CF for Houston, but I wouldn't go so far as to say he actually learned how to do it. He was pretty bad, based on what I saw.
-
Livan Hernandez? Wilson Alverez? You're right. Pointless. Repetitive. Fun.

Banned in 7 posts. That's a new soxtalk record, I'm sure.
-
If he increases by $15Million and we are not competitive, then KW could kiss his own ass goodbye... just before JR boots it. However, that would put payroll at close to $70Million. I just don't see it happening.
-
Apparently, KW is setting his sights on the best remaining FA pitchers available now that Colon is out of the picture. Who knows, it just might be Pettitte.
