  1. Let's see. In 2002 Loaiza made about $6,500.000 from the Jays. In 2003, he made $500,000. In 2004, he'll make $4,000,000. That's a pretty damn good comeback!
  2. I got tired of all the disrespect these two showed each other and stop reading their posts after a time. However, before I had enough of the crap, I did realize that if they would have attempted to see the other person's point of view they both may have learned something. Judging a pitcher strictly based on won-loss record is indeed flawed. Setting someone up in favorable matchups can also affect said record. But that is called good managing. You are putting guys in a position were they can succeed. That should be a common practice around MLB, and not just with pitchers. Judging a pitcher strictly based on won-loss record can say a lot about a pitcher, but you have to look at other stats as well. Black Jack McDowell may give up 5 runs but he'd beat you 6-5, or he'd beat you 2-1 if necessary. The point is, he would beat you. That, my friends, is a winner. So you are both right, and you are both wrong. It depends on a wide variety of variables as to the validity of either of your arguements.
  3. I hope this is incorrect. Link to entire atricle
  4. Out of respect for a job well done in Iraq, I voted for NukeCleveland. Besides, it's a helluva handle.

    What is your

English, Irish, Scot, Dutch, Cherokee Indian ..... basically, I'm a mutt.
  6. For some reason, I don't think she's joking.
  7. Abo .... Let me put this simply. Be a man. Sit down with her, look her in eye and tell her exactly what you really feel. If you want to continue dating, tell her that. If she is getting to serious or moving to fast, tell her that also. Be clear about what you are saying. Don't beat around the bush. But be considerate of her feelings. There is no reason to be mean or heartless about. Just be honest and to the point. There's my $.02
  8. Thanks to one and all! The birthday wishes are very much appreciated.
  9. Hawks fans have been waiting for $Bill to die for years.
  10. Who would have known back when the Edmonton Oilers had that run of Stanley Cups, that two players on that team would eventually pass Gordie Howe. Amazing.
  11. THIS thread will be the Dolphins good luck charm With Wanny as coach, you'll need more than good luck.
  12. The only chink in your armor there Yas, is that both Maggs and Beltran will be free agents after this coming season. So if the Yankees can't get them signed to an extension, either could walk after one year. And they may walk for reasons other than money. Lastly. I think will see less and less of Steinbrenner spending wildly. I am not saying they won't go after big name free agents, because you know they will. But I have a hunch that with the changing climate of the game, even the Yankees will be a bit more fiscally responsible. I think that my assuming that Yankees would pay enough to sign players they want to keep is hardly a "chink in the armor", if recent history is any indication.
  13. JM actually did that a few times. But, one time Frank had a bone spur, the next was the "shuttle run" incident and Frank was hurt at that time too. Timing was not one of JM's strongest talents.
  14. Heres the complete article If Frank "will not" play for Ozzie, retirement might be his only option. He wants 500 homers too much. He'll play.
  15. A freshly departed cadaver is more like the definition of Manuel.
  16. I know Ozzie as a player, as I'm sure most of us do. He may be just the "anti-Manuel" that this team needs.
  17. He's also a very below average 2nd baseman.
  18. I always like the type of game Cora brought to the park.
  19. Sure. Everybody loves Jeremy Reed. Until he debuts with an 0-4. Then it's going to be "He sucks!" and "Send him down!" It happens with every young player that comes up and doesn't produce like Albert Pujols.
  20. Instead of giving you my top five, I'm going to comment on each of yours. 1. Pettitte. The Sox won't outbid the Yankees for him. He might sign with Houston at a discount, but not Chicago. Forget Pettitte. 2. Castillo. I'd love to have him, but I'm not sure about throwing big bucks at 2nd base. 3. Cameron. The Sox would have to drastically overpay him to get him to even think about it. 4. Hawkins is not a closer. Failed miserably at that spot with the Twins. If you are reffering to Gordon's intended spot as set up man.. then yes he would work. But again, will have to outbid the Yanks. 5. Tejada. Maybe, but I doubt it. Cabrera is more likely, imho.
  21. Good move on Ozzie's part. He would have been looking over his shoulder from day one.
  22. That's the first I've heard about any mention of the Sox having an interest in Johnson in any source other than the speculation in here. That's good news.
  23. I hope so. That is exactly what we need.
