    cy young

Regardless. I agree with the previous post by SS2K4. A record of 24-6 would have gotten Loaiza the Cy Young.
  2. 20+ years and still waiting? Nope. I've long ago given up on that happening.
  3. I'm all for giving Rowand his shot in CF, as I have stated on many occasions.
  4. Halladay did deserve to win this award. Loaiza was great, and you can certainly make a case for him, but when you take your pro-Sox bias and put it aside, then the nod really should have gone to Halladay. IMHO
  5. Ya. You can't fairly discount him just because he happens to be the Cubs GM.
  6. Though the stolen base, itself, is over rated, the effects of speed on the game iss not. However, one of the arguements in favor of additional speed is the the value of it when on defense. In this case, Cedeno, it does not apply because he is such a terrible defensive outfielder. On other point I'd like to make. If RISKING an out for a base, via the stolen base attempt, is considered bad baseball, then what do you consider SACRIFICING an out for a base, via the sacifice bunt?
  7. Cedeno is THAT bad. I prefer to keep Koch.
  8. Here's the headline for December 26, 2003: Sox deal Buehrle to Cards for Drew, others
  9. Realistically, how can you disrespect the job Hendry did for the Cubs last year. He unloaded the Hundley albatross for two players that were a very important part of the Cubs success. When Patterson went down, he went out and got Lofton, then added Ramirez to boot. He may not have been the most deserving of the award, but he, in all fairness, should have been considered a viable candidate. As to whether KW deserved consideration over Hendry.... KW's moves did not result in a division crown and Hendry's did. That speaks for itself, I do believe.
  10. You will not catch me doing the wave at USCF ... ever. Hell, I even refused to do it in St. Louis.
  11. I don't want the club to get too caught up in nostalgia. Hell, there is really nothing to celebrate. However, I do think Robin could be a valuable asset to the Sox.
  12. For the record, the Japanese and the Chinese are not exactly bosom buddies. They've been warring against each other off and on for centuries. I doubt that there are very many Japanese people in Chinatown. And I can't see any Chinese people getting excited about a Japanese player on the south side.
  13. Surprisingly good article from Rosenthal. I agree that hiring Guillen will either be a stroke of genius or a crash and burn.
  14. I can hear the play by play call now .... Grounder to short, Valentin over to Vina on to Ventura at first. Rack 'em up. A lot of possible V's in the Sox infield next year.

    Neal Cotts

Cotts' stats in AFL don't really concern me as he was going to try and master the cut fastball that made Loaiza a winner. I'd rather him learn it in Arizona than in Chicago.
  16. Two plugs for Soxtalk. That is most excellent! Well, from what I gathered from reading this thread, there is really nothing new that hasn't been discussed and examined in every conceivable way here on Soxtalk. Kenny waiting to go bargain hunting is certainly not a shock.
  17. I can see us winning the division .... by default, almost. But, I'm certainly not going to make that prediction just yet.
  18. I can't see the Angels NOT doing this deal. Eckstien and "some pitchers"??? Even if Nomar is a rent-a-player, why not?
  19. I want to post a few pics to the board, but don't want to just post links them. How to get this accomplished? Thank you in advance.
  20. This is as scary as hell, but ...... I agree with you. GASP!

    9/11 scam

Point #1 - There have been "bottom feeders" like this all throughout histtory. Point #2 - They'll probably be charged with conspiracy of some kind.
  22. I'm sure that will happen, in the not to distant future.
  23. The Titans opened up a 55 gallon drum of "Whoop-ass" and poured it all over the Fins.
