I'm with you on this one. I do not think Loaiza's 2003 season was a fluke. I think it was a beginning.
-
I think that was a career high for innings pitched. He might not be able to go any more than that.

Loyalty, and especially respect, is a two way street. I haven't seen the Sox showing very much loyalty over the years. In fact, the have been obnoxiously hard nosed to players heading out of town. If you feel that Buehrle that Buehrle is at fault for this, then, based on their past record in this area, you certainly shouldn't be a Sox fan. Oh boy! Am I gonna catch some hell for this.

Carlos is not, nor ever will be a gold glover. He has, though, busted his ass and made himself a very serviceable left fielder. I agree on Crede. Future Gold Glover.

Are you talking about women, or relief pitchers?

I cannot understand why people are STILL upset with Mark over the Cardinals thing. He grew up a Cardinals fan and I'm sure that was a childhood dream of his. Hell, I can't blame him for wanting to, some day, pitch for the team he grew up rooting for.

They space out announcing the award winners throughout the month of November to keep baseball in news. In December, comes the winter meetings, usually acoompanied by a few trades. Free agent signings occur all winter long. It's all designed and timed for marketing purposes.

I don't think you could touch Everett for $5 million. Of course, if the market does go soft, maybe so. But I'm sure he wouldn't sign for that currently.

As much as I like Mark Buehrle, if the Sox paid him a long term gaurenteed contract, then he got injured or hit the skids like Konerko did, we'd all be b****ing and screaming for KW to trade him to the Cardinals for a bag of used balls. That's in addition to the fact that KW would be called a moron for signing him to a long term deal. When PK was signed, a vast majority of the Sox fans were very happy because Paulie had come off a very good year, was only 26 or 27, and expected to keep improving. Well, that's what the Sox thought too, I'm sure.

And then there is this: I hate New York!
-
That's a coin flip. We don't know if he was hurt, if he was will it heal or did he just lose it.

More news from New York. This time regarding Flash:

What do they know?

Link to article For what it's worth, the Mets are still thinking about Billy Koch. I hope they make us an offer we can't refuse.

I doubt there ever will be.

No, there is no difference. Cotts made one start and struggled so everybody said he sucks. The point is that judgement was made way too quickly, which is the point that was trying to be made with Reed. This was never about Cotts control, or how good he will be, it was about the idiotic overreaction of a large number of people who post on message boards. If the Sox can trade Cotts and Borchard for Vazquez, they should do it without hesitation. They should also trade Rauch for Mike Mussina and Honel for Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling. All three deals have about the same chance of being made. ZERO Thank you, Rex. I thought that remark of mine would get a lot of reaction, since Harris, Rowand, Borchard, Olivo, Garland and Crede all suck. Oh Wait! Crede doesn't suck any more. Yet.

Now that Jerry Manuel's gone, who else are we gonna blame?
-
But we could have ARod play SS, RF and be our closer.
-
I'd love to see us pick up Ponson. He'd be a very solid #3 behind Buehrle and Loaiza, scooting Garland back to number 4.
-
I'd love to have him, but I think IRod is a luxury we can't afford. The money should be spent on pitching.

What do YOU want out of a 6 million dollar hitter? As much as players get paid today, even with the market taking a downturn, I think if we got the same production from someone as Carl gave last year, 6 mill would definitely be worth it. You've also got to remember that "we" didn't get all that much production out of him. Texas did, in the first half. Yeah I know he hit bout 16 homers in Texas, here's what he hit for da White sox when he joined em. In 73 games, he hit .301, with 10 homers, 41 RBI's, and a .377 OBP. Also he was born in Tampa, FL which I neva knew, so hence the rumors of him goin home to play for the Devil Rays. He actually produced more for us than I thought he did. But double those numbers (to simulate a full season with the Sox) and take into consideration his awesome defensive abilities in CF, I think I'd rather have Rowand. Spend the money saved on pitching.

I was going to respond similarly. But, I knew someone would beat me to it.

I don't think they'll "give" the position to Shoney, or anyone else. The position will be earned, hopefully. Depending on the plans for Danny Wright, it will probably be between Shoney and Rauch, or Stewart if healthy. Cotts needs some time in AAA, I believe. It wouldn't shock me to see Jon Rauch win that slot.
