  1. That is theoretically correct.
  2. Trading Konerko for Erstad involves risks taken by both teams, which therefore, makes it an equitable deal. Sox risk: Will Erstad be able to stay healthy. Angels risk: Will Konerko rebound to the hitter he has been in the past. The point of this deal is that Konerko fits the Angels needs and Erstad fits ours. You swap salaries and risks, but if either works out, someones needs get met. If you don't make this deal, neither team's needs are addressed.
  3. I agree. I don't want to move Lee to another team, either.
  4. That's Bulls***! ..... If the man wants to increase his customer base, he needs to improve his product. The product he is presenting to the customer is unexciting and inferior, and his custumers are reacting accordingly. A business cannot expect its customers to keep a healthy cash flow coming in PRIOR to putting a product on the market that has a legitimate demand.

That's the reason. He didn't take the ball every five days like a starting pitcher is supposed to do. That caused the BoSox to have to juggle, scramble to fill those starts he missed.
  6. I don't think moving Carlos would be a problem as he does have infield experience. He can up as a 3B, so he can field a ground ball. Plus, Carlos is probably as good as he is going to get defensively in LF. In 2 to 3 years, he'll start regressing.
  7. That's not called lack of direction, it's called balance. The problem with the Sox is that they are not balanced in this regard. They are way to heavily stocked with right handed power hitters that are either lacking reasonable speed, passible defensive abilities, command of the strike zone or baseball savy.
  8. I was thinking either Erstad or Rowand in LF, the other in CF and Carlos move to 1B.
  9. This will not happen without a sport-crippling strike.
  10. A trade that might be doable is Konerko for Erstad. One for one. With Fullmer and Spezio gone, the Angels could use a 1B. Erstad fits our needs pretty well and they make about the same type of money. Erstad is 2 years older than PK.
  11. It is sad that a former, recent, healthy 1st round draft choice of ours can't even make the Mets top ten prospect list. Speaks volumns about our scouting when you take into consideration such names as Delareo, Stumm, M. Johnson, Borchard.
  12. When George complains about injustices suffered by the Yankees, I just have to laugh.
  13. I think Konerko has more trade value than most people. I look at Konerko as a good young hitter that just had a very bad season. He has shown that he can hit, and hit well. I can see the Dodgers trading Perez for him. I'm sure they'd rather have Lee, but then again, so would we.
  14. I've always like Ertsad. I'm just afraid that his best years are behind him.
  15. Ummmm ... last time I checked, Robin wasn't exactly a speed demon.
  16. If Ordonez seriously thinks he's worth $15 million per year, he is very mistaken. This will become obvious to him very soon. Either his agent is a moron who is living in the past, or this is just a negotiation stance that was used during the season, before it became so obvious that it was going to be an owner's market again. But, if Magglio insists on that much, then it's adios.
  17. I can't see moving Carlos for Perez in a straight up deal. I'd prefer to move Konerko if at all possible, and use some of that money to sigh Lee for about 3 years. If necessary, move Maggs to LA for Perez and prospects. They could then move Green to 1B and they'd have a hellacious L-R combo in the middle of the order. I still don't want Roger Cedeno.
  18. Hankins sounds like a smart, hard working kid. I hope he gets his shot.

  20. Arizona, Duke, Kentucky and a darkhorse ... Louisville. Duke takes the crown.
  21. When I read the title to this thread, I thought "They must be going to a 4 team tournament."
