If Borchard can't get that hole in his swing fixed, he's toast.
  2. I agree with your post, in general. Power hitting CF's have been the exception rather than the norm. Mays, Mantle, etc... yes. But guys like Lance Johnson, Lenny Dykstra or Lofton are more of the protypical CF'er. I don't know if we can keep Reed out of the Cell's CF. He has been putting up some awesome numbers. I'm right there with you on Rowand. I would have no problem seeing him out there of opening day '04.
  3. As much as I like Carlos, I agree that he is not in Magglio's status. However, I see rafa's point. Lee would do just fine holding down the 3rd or 4th spot in the lineup, if needed.
  4. I hope that surgery doesn't need to be done. Miguel's a helluva catcher and it will hurt to lose him.
  5. but of course. I understand now. How stupid of me.
  6. LOL ... I hear ya. Same here.
  7. No he wasn't on the 40man roster before this. I wonder who was taken off of the 40man. Even though I don't think it really matters. Rick White?
  8. I didn't realize it was your birthday. I took it as a joke because someone said it was the big 01 for you. Anyway, Happy Birthday Michelle!!!!!
  9. That's the ONLY way to approach it.
  10. Don't we all? I mean, those of us old enough to have experiences.
  11. Now that Jiminez is gone, not me. And I gave him the benefit of the doubt till he could no longer be defended.
  12. On this one particular night, having Everett in CF paid off when he made that catch. Hey guys and gals, these boys are just out there making the plays and doing what it takes to win!!!!!
  13. I think we will give Harden an introduction to major league hitters on Sunday.
  14. The '64 Cardinals had an amazing comeback against the Phillies. They made up a double digit decifit in about 2 weeks. I'm not sure of the details, as I was young then and am too old and lazy to look it up now.
  15. Ok, I've read this whole thread with interest. Cotts' walk total is a concern, for sure. Those walks, to me, translate into a lack of command. Now, having said that, his bb/ip has decrease lately. Therefore, he may now have the necessary command, which he lacked earlier. I haven't seen the guy pitch, so take it for what it's worth, but I think it just may prove to be worthwhile to give Cotts a start or two.
  16. You are assuming we'd sweep a very tough Oakland team.
  17. I was referring to the order in which they are "stacked" ... not the games back. LOL
  18. I hope they are still stacked up like that on October 1st.
  19. I've always been a believer in Carlos ... and have said on many occasions that this will be his break out year. I believe this season qualifies as such. One other note on Carlos, when the team was really struggling to score runs, Carlos seemed to pick up his game a notch, extra hustle, trying to take the extra base or make the great play to give the team a spark.
  20. We have to give props to Tampa Bay for taking the first two games of that KC series. Can we realistically hope for a sweep by them?
  21. Not only did Buehrle come up big by winning this game, but by pitching a complete game, he allowed our bullpen to get fully rested after the day off. That was BIG, imho.
  22. If we play the Cubs in the Series, one of two things will happen.... we'll lose ... or the end of the world will come right before the last pitch.
  23. Who gives a rat's ass about what any New York fan thinks about anything. I hate the sports teams in that town. Every freaking one of them. ....... and their fans too!
