  1. There were a couple of stolen bases that led to runs. Who were they, Alomar and Maggs, wasn't it?
  2. "...Floyd lifts one to right field, this one's gonna drop. McEwing will score--wait a minute, Rose holds McEwing at third! He would easily have scored, but for some reason Rose gave him the stop sign. Tom, you really have to question that decision, with two outs, and the tying run almost assured of crossing home plate... Now Rose is whispering something to Joe....did he just slip him a twenty?" That is EXACTLY why I said, and I quote, "not even as a 3rd base coach."
  3. I agree with you. Porzio had a couple of chances, also. Cotts should get at least one more chance.
  4. The only way Rose should be allowed into the HOF is if you separate Pete Rose the player from Pete Rose the manager. His playing stats are certainly worthy and he never, to anyone's knowledge, bet on the game as a player. If you look at it in that light, then just maybe... empahsis on "maybe"... he should be inducted. However, Pete Rose should never be allowed to hold a position of authority in baseball again. Never a GM, or mananger, or team owner/partner. Maybe as a batting coach would be ok, but not even as a 3rd base coach.
  5. Basically, you are defining a quality start. Yes, that would certainly be acceptable.
  6. If the Cubs cut him, there's hope for him. Remember, they traded Palmeiro because they didn't think he'd have any power.
  7. Another Mark Prior is too much to hope for. Lower your expectations or I believe you'll be somewhat disappointed.

The "M" is the least important part of that.
  9. Cotts did post under Bull's name a few times. There was some dissatisfaction about how Cotts was rated on here. Bull took up for him, and then Cotts made a post or two about it, IIRC.
  10. Separating the lefties would be the best bet, if it can be done without getting some out of synch. But, you have to do what you have to do. We need Cotts to step up and pitch tonight, that's for sure.
  11. Frank has an option at $6Million. If he passes, the Sox have an $8Million option. However, Frank does then have the option to become a free agent, regardless of what the Sox do.
  12. I did happen to know #2. But that is all.
  13. Ties always go to the opposition. Our guys just flat out beat it out or made the play in time, whichever the case may be.

    Sox MVP

The poll at CS was running about 85% for Loaiza.
  15. Let somebody have a bad game, and you guys want to rip him to shreds.
  16. And your basic Sox fan would say "Let's see what this can can do." and hope for the best. Go get 'em Neal.
  17. So far, it should be a no brainer for Loaiza. But it's only August 10th. Lot of baseball left to play.
  18. Yes, I had a minor disagreement about the effects of strength of schedule earlier on this board. It is something that you definely have to take into consideration and could play a part in the outcome of this race. I was told it didn't matter. Anyway, it can effect things, but I believe the Sox can overcome this because they have a tendency to play to level of their competition and the fact that we have 7 games each remaining with KC and the Twins. We've taken 7 out of the last 8 from KC and also recently sent the Twins a message. The Twins are done with the Yankees, for sure. They lost 7 in a row to them early in the season and that is all they have.
  19. No logic involved here Roman... Just messing with ya. Chill out.
  20. i am in total agreement with you. i was extremely happy how the board developes with just as much info on the minors as it did with what is happening at the majors. You are so right. That is one of the things I like about this board. I know more about the Sox minor leaguers now than I have ever known in 40+ years of being a Sox fan.
