  1. I have to admit that I haven't followed the kid's progress, but I seem to remember reading that he was doing quite well. But, I hope you are right.
  2. No... WE are lucky the Twins didn't draft him. Though that catcher they drafted sounds like he'll be the real deal.
  3. Detroit, Toronto, Cleveland, Arizona ... it's been a long time since we actually won a series.
  4. They have hit so poorly all year, that I am going to have to see more of this to believe they have shaken the slump. I have faith that they can do it, but I'm not convinced yet that they have.
  5. Stewart is only 20 years old, he didn't pitch badly while he was here. He may be a solid starter someday.
  6. Are we talking weight... or batting averages?
  7. Bostons minor league teams are bare, from what I understand.
  8. I agree with you here. It seems our guys are always trying to pull the ball. Which is exactly what I think Maggs was referring to.
  9. I heard an interesting report on Josh Stewart here in Kentucky on a local radio station. (Stewart is from this area). Apparently when Stewart was drilled by that line drive in the chest before he was sent down, it later caused some circulation problems. He temporarily lost feeling in some of the fingers of his left (pitching) hand. He has been on the DL all this time. Stewart is just now beginning his rehab, so I guess that health wise all is well. This may be old news to some of you, but this is the first I have heard about any of this. If this is common knowledge, then somehow it flew in under my own personal radar screen.
  10. I believe what Maggs said was that everyone was trying to hit homeruns, and you can't win that way. I interpreted that as saying everyone is trying too hard to get the big hit, to break this slump. I don't recall seeing anything said about stat-padding.
  11. This is hilarious!!! Good Job!
  12. Jim, though I was born in '57, I know something of those Yankee advantages. But, still, I'd like to hear the whole deal. I think it would be fascinating.
  13. 1983 motto: Winning ugly 2003 motto: losing uglier
  14. Mark did his job, that's for sure... as did E-Lo in his last start and as did .... Oh hell... this can go on and on.
  15. whitesox61382, let's just agree to disagree. We both seem to be pretty set in our opinions and unlikely to change. signed, "dulisional"
  16. Supposedly, he's gone back to his "old" mechanics. Maybe he's on to something. I hope so.
  17. And is it my imagination, or is Grace considered one of the classier guys in the league? I don't know, but I've always thought he was.
  18. Another oxymoron. Mark Grace's actions with the "corked" bat showed a total lack of respect for Sosa on Grace's part. And I'd be willing to bet, that was exactly what Grace intended.
  19. Bullard, West, Cotts: You have to keep things like this in the proper perspective. These guys, like the rest of us here, are fans. These evaluations and synopsi are impressions based on limited information. There is no way these guys are able to see all the games of all the minor league teams. They are only trying to supply as much information and opinions as possible in order to increase our enjoyment of the board and of being Sox fans (Lord knows we need all we can get in that area.). Keep in mind that they are not professional scouts and what they write will in any way have an effect on whether or not any individual minor leaguer achieves success in the show. To put things in a matter of perspective, I sometimes critcize the moves that Jerry Manuel makes during the games. But do I honestly think that I have a enough baseball knowledge to actually manage a major league team successfully? No. It's that simple. JM and the rest of them have been around the game their entire lives, and have learned the game the world's most knowledgeable instructors and coaches as they went through their careers. For me to honestly think that I could that job better than them would be arrogant and ignorant. So take this prospect list for what it's worth. Some fans trying to make things better for other fans. Also, I think it would be safe to say that we are all pulling for guys to succeed in your careers.
  20. I believe that if you promoted from within your organization, they would b**** too much. Florida hired Jack McKeon from outside, I think. That's why they got their wrist slapped.
  21. I've thought about this quite a bit since it happened. And when it comes down to it, I believe Sosa ........ is lying his ass off.
  22. My favorite team was the 77 HitMen. Though they didn't win the division, they were expected to totally suck. Veeck put together a team of nobodys that just had one helluva fun season.
  23. But the Dodgers are different. Since you'll be there, we will definitely kick some LA ass.
  24. Then don't watch amymore! LOL
