  1. I can't possibly see the A's being out of contention by July 31st.

    Harris/Miles

I bet there are some people on this board who can atleast play CF equally as good as Harris. Maybe that's a stretch....but I wouldn't bet against some people on this board having better fundamentals in CF than Harris. Harris is not a good CFer. Miles could play CF just as well as Harris can....I'm sure Josh Paul or D'Angelo Jimenez or Jose Valentin could play CF just as well as him too. I like Harris's defense at 2B though....he does have good hands and has a little bit of range. I won't forget the game in Minnesota where there was a liner hit that was heading towards RF and Harris just dove and made a helluva play. Man, was that slick. They tried Jose in CF in 2001. It really didn't work out very well. Besides, Jose has stated that he won't move from SS again unless it's just a one game emergency situation.
  3. Ditto, if he doesn't take some big steps forward this year he never will. Also i think Garland needs to step up, he's had enough time in the majors to adjust and with his stuff there's no reason he can't win at least 15 games. Garland should, but he's too young to give up on if he doesn't do it yet.
  4. one thing im sure of...regaurdless of how you break up the season (pre /post -all star or 81/81 games) if carlos is still on the team next year we will be having this same discussion...carlos showed brilliance in the first or second (take your choice) half of the season and he is ready to reach his potential vrs he will always be a one half season performer... If Carlos doesn't break out this year, I don't believe he ever will. I think at one point I said that. Deja vu. Anyway, if he doesn't do it now, I'll stop defending him.
  5. 2 months in the minors will not change him from the next rob deer if thats his destiny to the next mickey mantle...with his talent if he is not ready now he never will be Oh c'mon Baggs! He's had a season and a half of professional baseball, right? Plus he was focused on football in College. Give the young man a chance to learn how to play the game.

    KW again

I have always been a defender of KW. I just stated I had the right to change my opinion. Get some class. you are in desparate need of it.

    KW again

Let it be known that I just deleted a response to you in which I resorted to the classless garbage you throw out in your posts. I decided that I didn't want to leave that on this board. I take great offense to your remark about sucking KW off. Baggio disagreed with me, but he offer an intelligent rebuttal. That must be beyond your capabilities so you resort to vulgarities. That, of course, is a crutch for people that cannot use logic and reason to form their opinion. By the way, I have an opinion of KW and I am entitled to express it at any time. I also have the option of changing my mind whenever and however I feel like doing so. So, if, in the event that I do decide KW has made a mistake or screwed up big time, I will express that opinion regardless of what you have to say about it.
  8. If this happens, it will be very unfortunate. Frank is one of the best offensive players of all-time (yes, all-time), and I would love nothing more than for him to retire wearing a White Sox uniform. It would be unfortunate, yes. However, I see it playing out one of two ways. If Frank has a year like last year, then he will pick up the option and stay with the Sox. But, who wants to pay $6 Mill for a .250 hitter. If he has a year like he did in 2000, he'll bypass the option, the Sox will pick up their option for $8 Mill and then he'll buy them out for for $2 Mill and hit the FA market.

    KW again

Some people are against him no matter what he does. That is unfortunate, and those people will probably never give him credit no matter what he does. KW didn't get off to a very good start, but he has done a much better job lately. I know he gets hammered a lot for the Durham deal, but I have a feeling that he was ordered to move Ray. That kinda put him over a barrel. KW hasn't done a bad job.
  10. If Vegas is the most exciting city in the US, why do they need a team?
  11. Thanks for the info. That wasn't mentioned in the article and when he siad most scouts had Reed pegged as 3rd or 4th rounder, I wondered where we drafted him.

    K.Stewart

I hadn't heard that news at the time I made that post. It was just wishful thinking, regardless.
  13. What round was Jeremy Reed drafted?

Frank can be a veteran pain in the ass at times. Still, we him to be close to the Frank Thomas of old. He can carry a ball club for weeks when he gets hot.

    KW again

KW doesn't set the budget. He has to work within the budget set by JR. Someone asked him a question and he gave an honest answer in response. I don't see where he was crying or whining about it. Just stated a fact.
  16. He'll give the Pirates a good 4 to 5 weeks.
  17. If Wright is not ready to go, Stewart seems to be the only other option at this point. At least the only effective option. Getting Jon Rauch out of Arizona may solve his problems, but that's a big gamble.
  18. I wholeheartedly agree. We need a healthy Danny Wright in our rotation. If he is not healthy, I'm very worried.
  19. Don't get me wrong...I want Wright in the rotation as long as possible. But if he struggles 3 years down the road...he could get demoted to the pen and then be used as a setup man/closer. I like Wright's stuff as much as baggs does....I remember seeing him on ESPN once, and I absolutely fell in love with his stuff. If he can learn how to use that effectively....watch out. We could have a helluva rotation in the near future(especially if we keep Colon) We have the potential to have a helluva rotation RIGHT NOW.

    Sox 2003

If what Frank has been showing is "veteran leadership", I wish he'd let someone else handle that responsibility. I just want Frank to shut up and hit.
  21. I just found out today that Stewart is a local boy. He pitched for a high school in the neighboring county. At least, that's what my father told me. That would be Livingston County (KY) High School.
  22. That was a pretty pathetic display. I'd be reluctant to stand up for a guy like that, even if he was my teammate. You know he wouldn't back you up.
  23. Apparently a big bust. No show fo' Toe.
  24. I don't think either Visquel or Mesa will still be around in '05. They're too old. Someone is gonna have to change teams for this matchup to happen. Selig should force that to happen "in the interests of the game". You mean like making the victor of the All-Star game getting homefield advantage in the World Series? I agree whole heartedly! Do this now! It would be so nice to see a Sox player be MVP in the AS game knowing that he just gave the Sox home field advantage in the WS (if they get there, obviously), and doing it all in front of the home crowd in Chicago. Yep... that would be great. I can see it now... All Star MVP, AL MVP, WS MVP--- Magglio Ordonez. That would eliminate all that talk about that other RF'er in Chicago. You now... ol' what's his name.
  25. If White or Glover can be as effective against righties as Wunsch is against lefties, the bullpen should be fine.... even with an 11 man pitcheing staff.
