  1. Without getting into the nitpicking of various points, which I understand is half the fun in here.... I think Brandofan's post about Carlos was well thought out and well written. Carlos has his flaws, but he is an asset to this club.
  2. Signing Rogers was always a long shot.... Now, it's a very very long shot. I think we can forget about it.
  3. Disregarding salary, I'd have to trade him for ARod. No question.

Do you remember how horrible the O's were at the end of last season? No way they finish any higher than 4th. They haven't done anything of consequence to improve their team. The front office changes were needed, but that hasn't translated to the field yet. But I also remember how they played pretty stinking good during the middle part of the season. They have some decent young players, but they missed out big time in free agency. They tried signing quite a few players and fell short. I'm pretty sure they lost 32 of their final 36. That's beyond bad...that's cub like. And Angelo is worried about having a "second" major league team in that market. He should worry about getting one there to begin with. They really just went right in the crapper last year, and did nothing to improve.
  5. Finley pitched like crap with Cleveland. He was more effective with St. Louis, but that is the minor... I mean, National League. If we need a fill in starter, we can get one.
  6. Cool. That may prove to be a worthwhile investment. I guess I should check out Olivo and Borchard too.
  7. Olivo needs to get regular playing time, so he can keep his batting eye sharp. If they are not going to play him in 2/3 of the games, they need to send him down. I think Olivo will effectively be the regular catcher.
  8. She gave baseball a bad (worse?) name. I'm glad she's effectively history. Too bad she owns ANY portion of the Reds.
  9. That is correct... Crede is not eligible to be rookie of the year. he may not be eligable.. but his baseball cards are starting to be hard to come by... they sure have gotten popular in the off season... i was talking with one of the dealers by my house and belive this or not joes cards are the most sought after right now in the chicago area......pretty impressive i would say............ That is pretty impressive... I may have to check out and see what they are going for here. Hmmmm.
  10. Ah!!!!! A true Chicago style election. Brings back fond memories. Vote cast.

Henderson could probably still help a lot of teams, based on his talent. But, he has demonstrated on more than one occasion that he could be a clubhouse cancer. He's not really worth the risk. And no, he is not better than anything we have in CF.
  12. Sounds like a helluva deal to me. And when you said this: The key word in that statement, IMO, is succeed.
  13. caruso hit 300 his rookie year...he wasnt rushed..he was ready...what ruined caruso was his head got so damn big he couldnt fit it inside comiskey , errr, us cellular park anymore...his work ethic sucked...borchard is 24 years old now....next year he becomes officially "old " for a prospect... plus we need him bad..3 through 9 is all right handed...its not like he would be replacing a veteran player..its just one question mark for another ...but joe will give us what rowand never will...left handed power...big time power He'll only give that power if he's ready. That's all I'm saying. I want him up here hitting bombs from the left side too. But, if the holes in his swing are beach ball sized, he's not going to hit many, regardless of how much power he has.
  14. At that price, it better not happen.
  15. harry chappas...made freddie patek look like yao ming Yep. That's the guy.
  16. I was under the impression that it was unanimous within the Sox organization that Borchard simply was not ready. Even Borchard says so. Remember the discussions about Caruso earlier? We ruined him by bringing him up too soon. We let Crede sit in AAA until he was ready and I believe it will pay off big time. We let Maggs sit in AAA so long Ozzie Guillen was screaming about it. But it certainly paid off.
  17. That is correct... Crede is not eligible to be rookie of the year.
  18. I thought of Caruso for that "forgettable" catagory, but that was too obvious. Another name for SS I considered was Harry Chappas. Was actually a Sports Illustrated cover boy and was going to be R-O-Y. Seems to me this was in the most recent Veeck era. Anyway, I skipped him because I didn't think anyone would have any idea who I was talking about.
  19. I read somewhere that once Rowand took over for Lofton, and started playing regularly, his average was a respectable .270 or so. His full season average was lower because he didn't hit as well as a part timer. So, anywhere in the .265-.275 range will be vey acceptable IMHO.

  21. And that will be a good thing.
  22. I really hope Olivo can cut it better than JP or MJ. We traded a pretty good relief pitcher to get him. Olivo and Crede are the two position players I'm excited about watching this year.
  23. You have to give KW credit for seeing a possible opportunity there, and taking a shot at it.
  24. Did somebody mention Rashaan Salaam? ..... FUMBLE!!!!!
  25. That's one of the most assinine comments I've ever heard. If they win it will be a direct result of them.
