  1. Sorry Jose. I have to admit, I wasn't always this excited to see Contreras pitch earlier in the season but now before all of his starts I have the mentallity that the Sox are gonna win the game
  2. Yeah, you guys are right, but it sure is good to see him hopefully on the right track again, bad offense and all
  3. Our question has been answered! Great job tonight by Freddy and all the guys! WAY TO GO SOX!
  4. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 08:42 PM) Freddy and Mark, and a little bit Jon too....have to earn their starts in the playoffs right now. I don't care if the kid's a rookie...if the vets aren't performing, they shouldn't pitch. Agreed. If BMac pitches great his next 2 outings and wins that last, possibly crucial game of the season he deserves to start sometime in the playoffs. If MB and Jon have a great finish to the season they should pitch in front of BMac because of their experience and Freddy should start in front of BMac pending a good last week of the season because of his ability to step it up in the big time games, and it doesn't get any bigger than the playoffs
  5. Great job Freddy! Way to get something going in that 3rd inning offense! Way to crush the Twins and help me earn another dollar off a bet with my parents. Indians:
  6. Also, who would have thought after the first half of the season, that at this point our #1 and 2 starters in the playoffs could be Contreras and BMac!
  7. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 07:15 PM) McCarthy should not be in the playoff rotation. Yeah he has pitched well but he is a ROOKIE. Bullpen. Also i can't believe you are seriously saying McCarthy over Buehrle and Garland. ?????Of course BMac should get a chance at the playoff rotation. He's beat 2 of the toughest offenses in the league on the road. Just because he's a rookie doesn't mean he can't pitch better and doesn't deserve a spot any more than anyone else.
  8. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 05:49 AM) With the way Detroit have quit, it's pretty much INEXCUSABLE if we don't take all 4 games from them, even with the way we've been going lately. Damn right it would be inexcusable! The Kansas City Royals 4-game swept them for God's sake!
  9. I would like to see the fences moved in, as I think it helps fit our offense more, but IMO there's no way they'll spend that much money to bring back the fence they just brought in a couple years ago.
  10. Great article. It's hard to imagine the obstacles he over came to get this far. It's great to see him having this much success.
  11. Having Duke as a closer would be a risky decision. I wouldn't want a guy that struggles in the 1st few pitches of a game, and has no closer experience that can't hit 90 on the radar gun, to be my closer. Give me Bobby over Duke any day.

    Question

Yes, it would be a collapse, one of the biggest in baseball history, but I guess you'd have to call the season a success even if they got the wild card and made the playoffs.

    BMAC gem

After these last 3 starts BMac defenitely has to make the playoff roster. I don't care if Ozzie wants to stay true to his guys. Bmac brings a fresh, not well-known arm to the table and should be pitching in the playoffs for sure
  14. No, I don't think that the Cubs fans have anything to do with this collapse and yes, this collapse that we are experiencing is far worse than the Cubs collapse will ever be. This will be the biggest come from behind to win a division in baseball history for God's sake!
  15. Well, I really hope that BMac is lights out the rest of the way and gets that job in the postseason rotation. If he pitches well, I don't think there's really any reason to start El Duque over McCarthy. Please BMac, pitch well the rest of the way so we don't have to worry about this s*** that Herdandez has been showing us of late
  16. You're right, we should be able to wrap this thing up with the easy schedule we have ahead of us and hopefully not have to worry about that final series in Cleveland. If it does turn out that we have to win that Cleveland series to get in the playoffs, I like the matchups and think we could possibly put Count in there somewhere, as he continues to be lights out. If he continues to pitch this way we should pitch him against the Tribe even on 3 days rest, because I like our chances with him better than our chances with Duque, plus, being the end of the season it would give him a couple extra off days before his first start in the postseason.
  17. How about the Rolling Stones: Good Times, Bad Times "There've been good times There've been bad times I have my share of hard times, too" I think that one pretty much sums up the season, but you could also add the Jimi Hendrix song "Manic Depression" which describes what I get after every Sox loss
  18. IMO Ozzie needs to quit sticking up for the people who aren't getting the job done. He's too true to his players and that is what has helped lead to their demise. He should just play the guys who are doing good and give him the best chance to win. Also, sitting a guy will hopefully get their heads out of their asses and help them realize they need to play better.
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 12:43 PM) Yeah, you never hear of a winning team with bad chemistry, and vice versa. Yeah, that's probably one of my biggest concerns right now. With the losing comes the bad chemistry and with the bad chemistry comes the losing. It's all in all a hard hole to get out of, but we better get out of it soon.
  20. QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 09:15 PM) I'm past caring what others say. We've been blowing it for weeks now and he ain't the only one saying we're toast. We have to show some balls and squeak out a win tonight somehow. Totally agree. At this point we deserve to be ridiculed by these guys at ESPN because we're playing like crap. We gotta just pick it up and prove these so called experts wrong.
  21. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 08:44 PM) No not in the playoffs. Maybe to save his back for the games in October however Hermanson should be this teams closer. Not the way Bobby's been pitching. I know Hermy's been great this season, but with the bad back, they have to go with the guy who gives them a better chance to win, which would be Bobby.
  22. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 08:22 PM) 10 days since Konerko last hit a home run. It's about time he makes that number a 0
