  1. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 17, 2013 -> 09:48 AM) So what is the best case scenario for Teo here? That he was duped into believing this online persona was real but lied and embellished the story about meeting her and how in love he was with her etc, and then playing up his dead girlfriend for sympathy and attention even though he had never met her? I mean even if someone was to give him the benefit of the doubt that he believed she was real (in which case he is a f***ing moron considering he apparently was in an online relationship with her for 3 years yet never met or video chatted her) it doesn't fix the fact that his entire story is a lie. Edit: Also, the girlfriend you supposedly love is in a car accident and you don't visit her? She is dying of leukemia but you never visit her? Yeah, I'm not buying Teo's story at all. Best case for T'eo is that he runs a good 40 and comes off somewhat normal in the interviews with NFL teams. If a team thinks he can play at the NFL level, they will not give two s***s about his fake girlfriend.
  2. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 17, 2013 -> 09:47 AM) So you think it's normal they sat on this story that long? I've seen them put out generally false stories about other programs without any research. Wouldn't releasing this before the title game get you a ridiculous amount of clicks? No, it's not normal. Nothing is normal about college football or most college sports. They are all corrupt and doing shady things. I don't know why ESPN would give special treatment to ND. NBC, sure I could see that.
  3. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 17, 2013 -> 09:36 AM) Espn already had the story and sat on it. What other program would have gotten such treatment? If it was OSU they would have broke the story without even fact checking it. Yes, Notre Dame is the only college football program that gets special treatment.
  4. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 07:53 PM) I can't wait to see ND and Te'o with egg all over their faces. They will for about 10 minutes. Then this story will be over and the next story will replace it.
  5. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 07:21 PM) late to the party, but CJ Mosley comes to mind Him or Ogletree, but I still think Te'o had the best year out of the three.
  6. I don't understand people saying he did this for the money or awards. He was picked by many to be a first round draft pick before the college season even started. Also he was gonna win alot of those awards regardless. You don't make up a giant story like that to add one or two extra college awards.
  7. @realfreemancbs Theory about why Manti did what he did has reached NFL team circles and if true absolutely explains his actions. @realfreemancbs If this theory is true, Manti would end up being one of the most important stories in history.
  8. I would still take Te'o at the end of the first round. I never thought he was top 5 pick. I also don't think this will hurt his draft stock.
  9. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 04:15 PM) Someone should've fact-checked on the girlfriend much earlier. You wouldn't think that someone would lie about something like that.
  10. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 04:07 PM) Jarvis Jones was a better LB overall. Te'o wasn't even the best defensive player on his own team. Jarvis Jones plays a completely different position. He is a pass rush linebacker/DE. He was the best defensive player on his team, although Stephon Tuitt was a close second.
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 03:59 PM) Why did a guy win a ton of awards and almost win a heisman even though he wasn't even the best player at his position? Looks like it worked as planned. Either that or he got catfished. This wouldn't be the first time in 2013 he was exposed as a paper tiger. Who was the better ILB in college last year?
  12. Wow, that is really bizarre. Why would he do something like that? So odd.
  13. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 02:25 PM) shut your cheese lovin pie hole Actually I don't want that either. I still live here and I don't wanna have to hear that crap every day.
  14. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 02:15 PM) If Mike Wallace takes a paycut, sure. He is gonna get crazy money.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 01:34 PM) Do you hate your life as a Bears fans? Don't click this link. http://www.usatoday.com/story/gameon/2013/...estman/1839161/ I would love to see that happen.
  16. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 09:02 AM) I have met Clinton before, albeit for just a few seconds and a "Hi Mr. President", but I can see where people like him and would want to have a beer and hang with him. Very personable. But you guys with Carter? Really? Partisanship aside, he was uninteresting back then, and now is just a bitter old man full of America hate. Unless you wanted him to crack open some of that Billy Beer that is probably sitting in his basement........If he would talk candidly, I would like to have a beer with Bush Sr., and ask about his WW II days and working for the CIA. America hate? Please explain.
  17. @mortreport Chip Kelly is the new coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, according to league sources. No announcement yet.
  18. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 09:09 AM) Bears hire Trestman I am on the fence not excited or mad. My only question If he was so good as media says why did he have to wait so long to get NFL head coaching job since 2004? That's the way it should be when a team hires a coach. No one knows if he will be good or bad. Right away people either think this is the worst move ever or He will win us a Super Bowl. Much like draft picks you have to wait 2-3 years to really know.
  19. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 08:51 AM) As a outsider looking in, Besides Marshall I see the rest of your WR's a huge weakness. Hester used to be a great ST player but he isn't that good at the WR position. The other 2 are good backup role players. Your #1 weakness on offense is the tight end position, maybe you will draft the TE from ND. You can find several good OL in the draft. A team with Cutler, Forte, Marshall, Wallace and solid TE, would win tbe NFC North for the next 3-4 years The Bears made some very good moves today Win the NFC North for the next 3-4 years? More like 10-20 years.
  20. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 08:27 AM) Honestly, Kromer alone adds about as much to our OL's effectiveness as signing a free agent or spending a 1st day pick in the draft. Dude knows how to coach those guys. The most talented O-line coach in history couldn't make some of the players on the Bears better. They need at least 3 new o-line. Maybe 4.
  21. Has a head coach ever been hired from the CFL?
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 15, 2013 -> 01:51 PM) I just got done reading that RFK Jr believes the Mafia put a hit on JFK, and that there were multiple shooters... What say you? I tend to think he acted alone. I always got the impression that Oswald thought he was going to be this communist hero. That he would kill Kennedy and go to Cuba a hero or something like that, but they really wanted nothing to do with him.
  23. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 15, 2013 -> 09:38 AM) Did the Eagles hire someone? Not yet, but it looks like Gus Bradley is the guy they want.
  24. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 14, 2013 -> 04:38 PM) Why would Wilson be impacted by RGIII or Kaepernick? Wilson is a pocket passer who just happens to be fast. To the best of my knowledge, Wilson never ran 1 play of read option in college. On the Seahawks I can not actually recall him ever keeping the ball on read-option action. You also cant compare RGIII and Wilson to Kapernick because both RGIII and Wilson had insane passing ratings that were college records. Kaepernick 150.5 senior year, 3k yards, 21 td 7 int. Rushing Yards 1206 Russell Wilson 191.8 (All time NCAA record), 3k yards, 33td 4 int. Rushing Yards 338 RGIII 189.5 (2nd All Time to Wilson), 4k yards, 37 in 6 td. Rushing Yards 700 If you want to compare Kaepernick, the guy you are looking for is, Cam Newton. Cam Newton 182 senior year, 2800 yards, 30 TD, 7 int. Rushing yards 1473 Cause Wilson still runs a lot. He might do it more as a scramble but he stills runs a lot. He had almost double the amount of runs that some like Rodgers had.
