  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 12, 2008 -> 02:48 PM) He took a horrible team that won 49,72 and 71 games the previous 3 years, and took them into the WS his first season. If he had nothing to do with the Tigers success, no manager in history has had anything to do with a team's success. Jim Leyland should tithe to Dave Dombrowski, he's done the vast majority of the work that has caused Leyland's good resume to exist.
  2. Not all that important, but to see crowds of 26 thousand and 30 thousand the last two days with this weather is solid support. Let's keep winning and have then crowds be 35 to 38 thousand everyday.
  3. Milwaukee gets a 5-3 win in Flushing, and Gagne actually had a 1-2-3 9th inning. Who knew?
  4. I'll be skeptical until he starts pitching against somebody other than Detroit, but Gavin is giving reason for hope. Great win today, need to get a series win tomorrow.
  5. QUOTE (Wanne @ Apr 12, 2008 -> 02:36 PM) Man....they really hate Leyland over there. Probably because he's not a very good manager. The idea that 2006 was his doing is a myth. As much as I have hated on Ozzie over the years, he was far more responsible for our 2005 than Leyland was for their 2006.
  6. Only 11 pitches for Jenks in a not stressful spot, so it's all good. Let's get a series win tomorrow.
  7. Yikes, Bobby falls down. Never fun to have important people out there in weather like this, but somebody has to play.
  8. This is a really tough choice for Ozzie either way. We don't have another off day for 9 days, but Jenks has had 4 straight days off and he was getting warm thinking it was a save spot. I'm shocked by how bad Orlando has played defense so far. Can't have Jenks throwing extra pitches.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 12, 2008 -> 02:22 PM) I'd like to see Ozzie put Anderson in the game for Dye or Swisher. With the wet field, you don't want to risk injury. I'd empty out the bench if I were Ozzie with the lead comfortable now.
  10. This is going to be a deceiving box score for Verlander, it's good to see our offense taking advantage of some mistakes and putting it away though.
  11. QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 12, 2008 -> 02:15 PM) their pen was absolutely depleted...im not gonna blame leyland too much He'd already gotten 7 and 1/3 out of Verlander, and he had walked and then hit in the head the last two batters. Bring in the lefty to get Thome, manufacture a 3rd out, and at least you have a chance in the 9th while having your starter avoid 20 extra stressful pitches. It's not worth it in April, and the pen could have gotten them 2 outs to keep it close going to the 9th. I'm not complaining though, that poor managing helped put it away for us.
  12. That should be good enough!! And now, Jenks probably won't be needed either, good. What PATHETIC managing by Leyland today though, leave Verlander in until he reaches 115 pitches and allows 4 (maybe more) runs. I know they used the bullpen all game last night, but Verlander should have been out after he hit Cabrera in the head.
  13. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 12, 2008 -> 02:09 PM) That works! If Ozzie was coaching DET, people would be having a fit that he hadn't pulled Verlander yet. And they'd be right, Verlander should have been gone a couple batters ago. Be nice to get a few more and not need to use Bobby.
  14. A much less scary, and very effective, hit by pitch gets the job done.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 12, 2008 -> 02:04 PM) That Tigers fan almost got creamed by that bat. Good thing the guy in front of him deflected it. Debateable that it's a good thing if it means the Tigers fan wasn't hit.
  16. QUOTE (SnB @ Apr 12, 2008 -> 02:00 PM) i've only been listening to the game, but it CAN'T be worse than yesterday. I was there, it was brutal. It's definitely colder today than it was last night, and very similar in terms of a light drizzle. Probably a bit lighter winds though. It's been awful both days, that's for sure.
  17. Man it is one scary sight to see a player get hit in the head. I am amazed more people weren't killed by pitches in the pre-helmet days. Cabrera appears to be ok fortunately.
  18. Some strange winds today, even by The Cell's lofty standards in that department.
  19. Linebrink making a lot of us *raises hand* look really dumb thusfar. He's not only pitching well, but his stuff looks pretty good.
  20. Yep, that had all the signs of happening very soon. Still a great outing, and great move by Ozzie getting him out of there right now.
  21. 5 groundouts, 13 air outs for our guys. Seen this one before. He's losing the grip on his breaking ball, not a good sign at all. But blows him away with the heat!!
  22. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Apr 12, 2008 -> 01:44 PM) Thats his job. I can understand it if your doing the radio broadcast to be honest, but this is on TV, the bug is there at the start and end of every half inning saying the runs, hits, and errors for both sides, fans can figure it out pretty fast.
  23. QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 12, 2008 -> 01:42 PM) Did he just do another taboo? He started this half inning by saying: "One run on two hits and no errors for our Sox, and no runs, no hits, no errors for the Tigers".
