  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 05:21 PM) Well, Fukudome's going to be a legend. I hate this baseball season already. It's one game!! I mean, the anger can't be overstated for our game since it was everything but fixed, but if your going to let the Cubs make you miserable this early, you'll end up killing yourself. At least wait until July for that misery.
  2. The reason the Brewers are going to finish behind the Cubs in the NL central just blew a 3-0 lead faster than you can say Gagne sucks. Not sure what Milwaukee was thinking with that signing.
  3. Either the game is fixed, or those umpires should be fired. And i'm not even kidding, if 3 calls that obvious can be missed that quickly, the crew clearly is inadequate to do it's job. I have never seen anything remotely like that in any sport in my life.
  4. Can you protest a game just due to blatently missed calls? If not, this would be a good case study to change that rule. Never seen anything like this game.
  5. Now I know how it feels to be a fan of whoever plays UCLA. Tough to win a ballgame when the officials/umpires are playing on the other team.
  6. I don't know if there is dislike as much as the campaigns couldn't possibly be more different. One is based on a record that has been being built for decades due to McCain's age, and the other campaign is just based on, well nothing to do with a record because Obama hasn't been around long enough to have much of one. It's an interesting campaign to say the least.
  7. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Mar 30, 2008 -> 04:52 PM) Guess a few disagree with you 101. lol That's fine, you and all of them are wrong. If you really think Tyler Hansbrough tries harder than anybody else in games, your an idiot and that goes for anybody who says it. I can buy he tries harder than anybody else in terms of practice and practice time, but everybody works their ass off in college games, I've been to enough of them and been paid to be at enough of them the last 2 years to know that now.
  8. The "well Self hasn't been to the final 4" defense of Bruce Weber is dead, thank God. McKillop might have lost this game though, he takes that hot shooting kid out of the game with 5 minutes left AND puts Richards at the 2 at the end? Terrible. There is a reason that Richards leads the nation in dimes (he passes to Curry who is off the ball), and that's beside the point that the whole reason Curry is at Davidson and not North Carolina is he can't get his own shot or create for others, especially in a 1-4 set.
  9. The real best point guard in the nation dominated the wrongly perceived best point guard in the nation today. Memphis is going to be awful tough to beat if they keep making free throws like that.
  10. I expect Kansas to play much better now that they (and Self) have the elite 8 monkey off their back. Besides that, I just expect 3 great games and would not be surprised no matter who wins.
  11. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 04:36 PM) Im with you. I like the natural beauty and honestly, the quality of the girl's heart really affect me as well. Ive dated plenty of attractive females that were just awful on the inside, and have never been as satisfied as I have finding a girl that I believe to be a knockout, but also is one of those people that everyone loves and truly has a great heart. Indeed, I think it's unquestionable fact that a girl can become more attractive if you find her to be a great person as you get to know her better.
  12. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Mar 30, 2008 -> 10:24 AM) They keep saying it because how much harder he works off the court than other players. Unfortunately they don't ever mention how skilled he is instead though. He's always the fastest big man on the floor and usually the best rebounder on the floor, and best big man shooter on the floor, but no, it's all about how hard he tries. I've heard "his will exceeds his skill, but his skill is considerable" about 1,000 times from Jay Bilas. It's time to retire that quote. That's my point. You, I, Jay Bilas, nor anybody else can determine how hard he is trying in a game. That's ridiculous. Yeah he's trying hard, but I've never seen a great player who doesn't try hard before. I don't get how people determine Hansbrough tries hard more often than anybody else because it's ridiculous. I can honestly say the most overblown thing I have ever seen in the history of any sport is how hard Tyler Hansbrough tries. I can believe he's the hardest working guy OFF the court on the team because that is where you distinguish work ethics is practice, but most of the stuff said about his work ethic in games is asinine. He may try hard, but trying hard doesn't make you put up 23 and 10 a night. I honestly wonder if he gets this treatment because he's white, as D.J. White is a very similar player to Hansbrough (not quite as good for a career, but he was very similar to Hansbrough this year especially) and you never heard a word about how hard he tries.
  13. Jay Bilas said tonight "I played against Michael Jordan in college, and he did not outcompete Tyler Hansbrough". Not only is that the dumbest quote I've ever heard on a college basketball game, it literally made me laugh out loud. Why don't the announcers just say "Tyler Hansbrough is a great COLLEGE player, but he's white and tries hard so I want to give him a blow job". I mean, that's basically how games are broadcasted now that he is in. I almost feel bad for the kid, he's basically the 2nd coming of Christian Laettner in every sense of the word (all time great college player who might last long, but will do very little, in the NBA) except he actually doesn't seem like a douche. I can't stand "Psycho T", but it's because of the media and not because of a thing he did. I can't imagine he wants every broadcaster to just go totally overboard about him. I just don't understand why him "trying so hard" matters. I guarantee a lot of players out there try just as hard as this guy, but he tries harder because he flails around? I'm not sure trying hard causes him to get all those rebounds, or be a good free throw shooter, or be able to hit big jump shots, ability does. I simply am baffled at the media coverage of this guy, and the sad part is I bet he is too.
  14. They just gave UCLA a free ticket to the final 4 by putting them in this joke of a region. At least it took some upsets for Kansas's road to become so easy (only one major upset in this region with WKU in the sweet 16, and they even made it interesting with UCLA in the 2nd half). The lack of competition in this tournament might hurt UCLA when they go against the Texas/Memphis winner.
  15. I've never seen a player so good in college who is such a lock to be nothing in the pros as Hansbrough, so he'd be nuts to leave early (I can't imagine anybody would take him in the lottery). Great game though, Louisville is a great team and UNC did well to fight them off.
  16. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 29, 2008 -> 02:09 AM) Yeah totally, I mean a year ago they werent in the title game or anything....... And other than Ohio State, not a single Big 10 team even survived the first weekend. It was a garbage league last year too, it just had one extremely good team in it. Just as it was garbage in 2006 when the 6 NCAA Tournament teams from the league split losing with 3 going out in the first round and 3 in the 2nd round. You can't argue with the league being quality at the top in 2005 with 3 elite 8 and 2 final four teams (one making the final), but this is the 3rd straight year where the league proved useless in the NCAA Tournament.
  17. Our problem isn't how much we spend, it's who we spend it on. That's why so many here despise KW while basically leaving Uncle Jerry alone. And amen on how important cheap, young players are DBAHO.
  18. Oh my statement that no Big 10 team would survive the first weekend was cut and dry wrong. I am just saying that the embarassing performances by Michigan State and Wisconsin tonight reinforce that the Big 10 is still a joke and was the worst BCS league in the nation this year (outside of MAYBE the SEC). Basically, I was wrong but the Big 10 still blows. On a side note, the sooner the Big 10 realizes it blows and that they need to get some new refs who will actually call fouls, the better. All of the 55-53 games in league play are the main reason the league is so bad. Another big reason is recruiting is down, but the reason recruiting is down is nobody wants to play in a league with 55-53 games. The Big 10 allows more fouls to go uncalled than another other league in America and it's not close, and that has to change. The best comparison I can use is the Big 10 needs to do what the NHL did and just call everything a penalty.
  19. Memphis isn't going to need those free throws tonight. Izzo and the Michigan State fans shold be embarassed.
  20. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 09:16 PM) Didn't you claim that no Big Ten team would make it past the first weekend (at some point)? I was just embarassed by that statement. Two teams made it to the Sweet 16, with one losing to a mid major double digit seed by 20 and the other down by 30 at halftime. They sure showed me!! I may have been wrong about the timing of the exits, but not about the garbage that is the teams. And Curry isn't going anywhere, scouts don't like skinny 6'2 guards that can't play point, even if they are the best shooter in years like Curry is.
  21. Never underestimate the value of a quasi-home court advantage in the regionals. Seen too many teams take advantage of it for it to not be a huge factor.
  22. Looks like I was right all along about the Big 10 and should have stuck to my guns. This Davidson group is a much better TEAM than I thought though. Curry is obviously amazing, but they force so many turnovers and have a lot of guys that make shots. Good luck to them dealing with Kansas though, not sure how that is going to go for them.
  23. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 11:06 AM) This is precisely what the GOP will use against him in the general. He's very good in the spotlight, so they say that's all he has. But to say that's true is kind of a joke. Seriously... point out to me, for example, how Clinton has had more "substance" in this campaign than Obama. She hasn't. They both do the same thing - they make some stump speeches that are rah-rah, they have the same level of detail in the debates, and they both have other speeches (and stuff on their websites) that gets into policy specifics. Mind you, if we're talking about experience here, then clearly McCain has far more than Obama. Clinton has a little more, but not much, or maybe even less, depending on your definition. None of the campaigns have much substance. It's just Obama, despite having basically no experience, claims substance when he doesn't have any. It's an election where you vote your party, because substance and honesty are almost impossible to find, especially with McCain's recent pandering to the right.
  24. I agree that the media is finally starting to be at least something resembling fair towards Obama, but I've seen many of his speeches and still haven't found anything resembling substance about him. Even when he finally admits something like the cap gains tax hike, he then says he never said it.
  25. QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 10:55 AM) Because it's been media driven. There is no substance there and the media has given him a major pass. Indeed. I'm not sure how anybody can argue the guy has substance, Obama doesn't even do it with his own speeches. It's just about i'm young and good looking and likeable and have hope. He's just a young, masterful speecher that has made many people fall for his spell. In fact, this campaign has proven that any young, decent looking guy that can speak very well can put people under a trance, and that scares me big time. Obama seems to at least have good intentions, but a good speaker in the future might not.
