And That's A White Sox Loser
All those people who are telling me Gavin had the best stuff in our minor league system are still nuts. His stuff is maybe slightly above average, he has the presence of a woman with no arms on the mound, and he looked a lot like the Gavin I remember in Philly tonight. This seals the deal on the firesale, even Kenny knows he has to do it very soon after that joke.

White Sox vs. Twins, Game 1 of DH, 7/06/07 (L)
Combined R/H/E of 79 today. Wow. All we have to do is give up 7 to tie and 8 to break our record for runs allowed in a doubleheader.

QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 04:37 PM) it's about time HALL got a hit. ever since Pierzynski called him out in the media, he hasn't been the same. A.J. called him out in the media before he ever played a game for us. Hit a slam Juan, just so I can laugh.

QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 04:35 PM) We have 9 XBH's, when was the last time that happened? Another good question.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 04:25 PM) August 30th, 1970. Lost 21-11. Wow. The only player on our roster that was born when that happened was Jim Thome. He was 3 DAYS old.

Of the 16 half innings in this game so far, there has been at least 1 run in 13 of them. We've scored 6 of 8 innings, they have 7 of 8. And I wonder the last time we scored 11 and still lost by 9 or more.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 04:18 PM) HEY! I found it. August 30th, 1970. Jerry Janeski was your starting pitcher in a 21-11 Sox loser to Boston. It took place at Old Comisky. Hawk's idol Carl Yastrzemski went 1-5 w/ a 3 run HR. Nearly 37 years? DAMN. And where did that Thome homer land? How far?

The other thing I am wondering is when's the last time a team scored double digit runs in a game and was doubled up or more.

When's the last time we gave up 21? I doubt we throw a scoreless 9th so i'd come in handy. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 04:11 PM) I've gone back as far as 1978 and I still haven't found a time where the Sox have allowed 21+ runs in a single game. Wow.

That guy that said he had 11 to 1 odds with 20 bucks on somebody scoring 20 this year is happy. And I can't believe I said we'd give up 20 back when they only had 8 and might be wrong because they'll score over 20, lol.

5 errors, amazing. And it probably should be 6 if the scorekeeper wasn't nice.

3rd time this game an easy DP is screwed up by the pitcher. Wow. Based loaded 0 outs.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 03:50 PM) Has Josh had a homerun yet that hasn't been a high fly ball that drifts out? The Pittsburgh one was into the upper deck, and I personally thought the one he just hit was a pretty much no doubter. But your right other than that.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 03:48 PM) Well, last year there was that 15-11 debacle at Wrigley. 17 runs? June 19th 2004. Arnie Munoz gets his ass handed to him in Montreal, Sox lose 17-14. 18 runs? May 16th 2003. Buehrle gives up 10 runs in 3.1 IP in Minnesota. Sox lose 18-3. 19 runs? May 10th 2002. Dan Wright, Matt Ginter and Mike Porzio allow a combined 19 runs in Anaheim while Scott Scho and Matt Wise blank the Sox. 20 runs? April 2nd 1998. Sirotka, Carlos Castillo, Todd Rizzo and Tom Fordham get dismantled at Texas in only the second game of the year. Rizzo allowed 6 ER in 0 IP. I figured the Arnie Munoz game was in there somewhere, and I also remembered the opening series 1998 game, but damn I didn't realize it was 20. I seem to have, through selective memory, forgotten the 18 and 19 run games. EDIT: It's only 18-10, I lost track here.

I'm hoping they get to 20 so that i'll be right, and might as well go for the gusto if your going to embarass yourself. When's the last time we gave up 20 in a game (or even 17?)

White Sox vs. Twins, Game 1 of DH, 7/06/07 (L)
LOL of course Boston wants us to take Lugo....he's awful and has a bad contract. I'd hope we are not THAT dumb. And 16-8, 2nd and 3rd 1 out. I think I am going to be right about us giving up 20 in this game.

Soxtalk Amongst Best Baseball Sites
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 03:22 PM) My favorite is still Hawk butchering the name of the site. http://www.futuresox.com/soxtalk/hawkshoutout.mp3 ^2 years ago today^ I remember hearing that when I came home and watched the TIVO of the game, good times. Also, that very game was Bobby Jenks MLB debut. Coincidence? Well probably, but still cool.

RBI groundout for Juan, 14-8. For some reason I refuse to believe this game is for sure over with as strange as it's been. Also, I was at the game on the 4th and thought I couldn't possibly have seen an uglier game.....but today's game is proving that statement to be false.
