White Sox vs. Orioles, 7/05/07 (W)

Wow, he knocked the s*** outta that one. Burres with a gift to Jermaine and nice to see him not miss it. 88 MPH cutters down the middle are not good. 5-0 good fellas. -

A.J. is just awful right now, and also breaking a lot of bats in anger after hitting pop ups. -

Off to a great start against a young lefty who's been pitching very well this year? Thome with the single against a lefty? WTF is going on here? (Although Thome is having a great series). Single for Paulie, wow! -

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 5, 2007 -> 07:19 PM) Danny Richar with a 3 run shot tonite. Brian Anderson says f*** that, 2-2 with a grand slam. Richar's was a 2 run homer, but same time of deal. Richar is just really getting me excited, and good to see BA healthy, that's his 3rd homer in 3 or 4 days now I believe. -
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 5, 2007 -> 06:19 PM) Seriously, has anyone picked up what changed for Aardsma from April to June? The only difference I saw was the league caught up to his deceptively fast heater, which nobody could get to in April, and he was able to throw his slider over enough to keep hitters honest in April. But I think for the most part it was a mixture of luck and the fact nobody in the AL had seen him before. Since April, his control wasn't as good as he basically became a fastball only pitcher against a league that had now seen him.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 5, 2007 -> 07:15 PM) What channel is the game on? Comcast Plus, which is CLTV for a lot of people and channel 668 for those of you with DirecTV. Nice 1st for Danks. -
Well deserved, congrats to those who run it here on the recognition.

Hopefully Danks can build off that great last outing. Man last nights game was ugly, even for us. -
Good luck Gavin!! And agreed with Allen in regards to Day and Gavin.

I'll never understand how this guy pulled off that month of April. He looked like trash in Spring Training, and trash from May on. April was just bizarre. Howver Carlos Vasquez might make that Cotts/Aardsma trade worth it one day.

I emailed the guy that wrote the article on him a little while back. I'm hoping he'll get back to me with some info on Lin's velocity down there, but with those numbers I'd assume he's doing something right.

Lin with another strong outing last night.... http://www.tricities.com/tristate/tri/spor...07-05-0010.html Bristol won 14-1, btw.
-
Derek Rodriguez is having a really nice year for W-S, as he improved to 9-2 with a 3.66 ERA and about a 2 to 1 GO/AO (1.96 to be exact) after a strong outing last night. Oh and I agree with you ws61382 in that I am a big fan of Moreno and am pleased to see Lin off to a good start.

Kobayashi loses!! Joey Chesnut sets a new record eating 66 hot dogs and gets the win. He really is a true American hero.

Why is anybody surprised or mad by this? The rich getting away with everything is not some sort of republican or democrat issue, it's a money and power issue. I love the cute "America has the best justice system in the world" crap I always hear though.

Since there is no DUI, I'll put the over/under at the end of the week for how long it takes to see the obligatory "the Bears were racist and judgemental to release Tank" column(s).

Official Modi'in vs. Petach Tikva thread

Hank Greenburg is rolling over in his grave. I'm not sure if he's dead, but even if he's not, he's rolling over in his grave. -
There will always be a ton of snubs until they stop with the every team has to have a guy nonsense. Maybe if a team sucks enough to not deserve or get an all star, they might be a bit embarassed and do something about it.
-
We'll agree to the money with him but not sign him due to a NTC. If we won't give Buehrle 4/56 because he wants a NTC, don't even dream of this guy being near our ballpark 81 times a year.

Well hey, if that thread title doesn't get your attention, nothing will. Granderson triped off the right field wall tonight, his 15th triple in the Tigers 80th game. The NL and MLB record is 36, set in 1912 by the Pirates Chief Wilson, and that one appears safe. However, the AL record for triples is 26, set by "Shoeless" Joe Jackson for the 1912 Cleveland Naps and tied by "Wahoo" Sam Crawford in 1914 for, of all teams, the Detroit Tigers. You can see where I'm going with this....Granderson is on pace right now to finish with 30 triples and break the seemingly untouchable record. Since 1950, the most AL triples in a season is 21 by Willie Wilson of the 1985 Royals, for more perspective. I am shocked that nobody seems to be noticing this either, since everybody always b****es how speed is dying in baseball, and I hope the pride of Blue Island and UIC breaks the record.

QUOTE(BearSox @ Jul 1, 2007 -> 08:48 PM) Is it okay if I call him "T-Boone"....? Outstanding!! T-Boone might have to be his new nickname. Man that article is so awesome. -
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jul 1, 2007 -> 07:36 PM) So if I provide one example will everybody please STHU about it? It happened in the year 2000, and involved a Chicago team. Umm could you be a bit more specific so we can explain to you why it worked.

http://www.dailysouthtown.com/sports/451288,011SPT5.article If you didn't love Boone Logan before reading that article, you sure as hell will afterwards. And hey, I've heard it called a T-Bone "up north" before!!

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jul 1, 2007 -> 04:05 PM) Since when? Umm since as long as I've been watching baseball. I don't remember the era where you could trade a guy on the DL.
