  1. Matt Cain and his 3.38 ERA fell to 2-9 today, whereas Roy Halladay and his 4.25 ERA are 9-2. Carlos Silva and his 3.98 ERA in the AL is 5-8, and Claudio Vargas and his 4.29 ERA in the NL is 6-1. I could keep going but you get the point.
  2. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 04:52 PM) Only you would find a way to complain about that class, me thinks. Depends on who the wild card is. The big reason I wouldn't like it is I am a big Liggins fan and think Shumpert is WAY WAY overrated. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 04:52 PM) A) The most players you will see signed for 2008 will be three. B ) Liggins was not the "big guy" for Illinois in the class of 2008 and the other Illini posters have supported that notion. It's simply not the case. A is probably right, and as for B.....I hope they were right.
  3. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 04:51 PM) Gavin has better stuff than Gio. Probably, but Gio's stuff just looks more impressive to the untrained eye. Probably because he's lefty and short, but Gavin's stuff is supposedly dynamite when he's on and he's been on the last month.
  4. If I had to take a wild guess based on his numbers and selection to the futures team, DLS might have better stuff than Gio and Floyd. But who knows, he's the only one of the 3 I've never seen pitch.
  5. This thread could be the biggest cat fight I've ever seen on these boards, which is saying something.
  6. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 04:30 PM) The chances Darius Miller ends up at Illinois are ZERO. It'll be UK, Tennessee or Florida. Correct, and UK has a wide lead IMO. And who is the big guy in this class if not Liggins? Miller who isn't coming? The overrated Shumpert? Dunigan? Illinois will end up with a class full of Demetri McCamey like prospects in 2008 which isn't bad, but won't get you to many Final 4's anytime soon. For the record, I think Suggs, Shumpert, and Dunigan, and probably some sort of wild card depending upon Jamar Smith, C.J., and whatever else goes on, will be the class.
  7. The Brew Crew isn't going anywhere. As long as at least 2 teams in the NL West keep winning, the Cubs are in trouble.
  8. All of the work the Cubs have done winning 6 in a row, and they are still 7 and a half out, 7 in the loss column, and a game under .500. Good luck keeping up that pace.
  9. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...ox&did=milb Birmingham loses 15-7, behind EIGHT (yes 8) errors, 3 by Perez alone. My favorite is Kris Honel, who in 4 innings allowed 7 runs, only 1 of them earned. Corwin Malone allowed 2 runs, neither earned....and the previously stellar Ryan Wing was atrocious, allowing 6 runs (5 earned) in 2.2 innings. Nanita was 0 for 4 and Collaro was 1 for 5, with Perez 2 for 4 trying to make up for the errors. Lucy went yard. Charlotte sends Lance Broadway to the mound at Syracuse against Victor Zambrano (yes, he of the traded straight up for Scott Kazmir) at 6:15. Winston-Salem plays at Salem at 6:07. I believe McCullouch is pitching, but that's not 100 percent for sure. Kanny hosts Hickory at 5:05. Justin Edwards pitches for the good guys against Jeff Sues. Bristol is off, and Great Falls plays at Billings at 8:05. Kevin Skogley of GF takes on Anthony Romero of Billings. Romero gave up 1 hit, 1 walk, and 8 k's in 7 shutout innings in his debut, so GF better be ready.
  10. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 04:18 PM) ...anyone following this closley knew Liggins was nothing more than a pipe-dream. I'm glad to be done with it. Also, it puts the O & B in a better position for Darius Miller. I'm not going to lose a wink of sleep over this commitment. Miller will end up going with him. The Illini will still have a pretty good class, but yet again miss out on the big time guy. No shocker.
  11. QUOTE(Shadows @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 02:51 PM) Oh, don't worry.. that is coming back after im done with my Randy Orton tribute Hey ignorance is bliss, I won't argue with you.
  12. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 03:50 PM) deandre liggins to kentucky, per scout. Just when I thought Bruce was making progress.....silly me.
  13. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 04:08 PM) Gavin probably has the best stuff in the Sox system. I can't agree with that unless we traded Gio again. But other than Gio I'd probably agree with you.
  14. QUOTE(knightni @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 02:13 PM) Stoudamire brings nothing in skill that Thomas doesn't bring. Do you watch basketball?
  15. I'm not the biggest of Chris Young fans....but he shows a lot of Jeff Francouer (I never see him walking a whole ton, but I think he'll be better than a .250 hitter) at the plate and Mike Cameron in the field, and he's still very inexperienced. He could definitely be a plus major league player.
  16. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 02:03 PM) My head hurts!! I can't believe some of you live for this s***. This is as fun as it gets in terms of off the field stuff.
  17. I can't believe somebody compared Amare Stoudemire and Tyrus Thomas in this thread. That's like comparing Joey Gathright and Carl Crawford because they are both African-American and fast.
  18. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 02:00 PM) ESPN 1000 sticks to their guns on the 2:00 update. What about WSCR.
  19. QUOTE(knightni @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 01:54 PM) Stoudamire, while very powerful and manchild-ish, doesn't seem much of an improvement over Thomas in playing style. They both have very limited "games". Oh yeah, great comparision. Except Amare has averaged 13.5/8.8, 20.6/9.0, 26.0/8.9, and 20.4/9.6 in his career. And is 6'10, 250 and 24 years old. And is a career 20/9 guy. And makes about 3/4 of his free throws and 53 percent of his shots from the field. And gets to the line 7 times a game. Other than that, same player.
  20. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 01:48 PM) Is Buerhle's agent in Tampa as reported? If so, did Bruce ask him why he is there and thus explain why this rumor should not be going on? I think Levine comes off as an egomaniac. He is also very biased toward the cub and would like nothing more than to keep the press away the Sox and focused on the cub. So Levine is going to make s*** up because he likes the Cubs and put his reputation on the line? Brilliant.
  21. Robert Valido is example 38B as to why the people who say steroids have a very minimal affect on baseball players are full of s***.
  22. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 01:44 PM) So the over/under of how many posts end up in the thread before a clear answer actually comes out? 700.
  23. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 01:42 PM) if I'm Mark, I'd take a good look at the Chicago White Sox of the next 4 years and I'd bolt asap.....and it would have nothing to do with greed. Agreed. That right there could be considered a small break by Levine. No new negotiations could mean an offer has been on the table for months and Buehrle has now decided to come to the team and accept it. KW has talked about these sort of senarios before.
  24. Buehrle would be taking a "homecount discount" is he accepted 4/60, let alone 4/50.
  25. I'd wet my mother f***ing pants with joy. Too good to be true though.
