I think they should invent a new term. Once your so bad it's beyond fun bad, it's 2007 White Sox bad. -

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 02:29 PM) A good throw and he's out. Soriano bounced it in there. I'm aware, but his feet were in no position to make a good throw at all. I'm surprised he made it that close. LOL this team is something else! Way to go guys! -

Why didn't Soriano throw it to 2nd? We'll take it though. -

Hawk, you can't rip Marriotti when we are the worst team in baseball. -

Why did he slide? He's safe EASY if he runs through the bag. -

#1. Why is Andy Gonzalez on our roster? #2. Why is he starting? #3. Why is he hitting 2nd? -
ESPNEWS has his death as their "breaking news".
-
Frank will for sure bat again, as he's due up 5th in the 7th (so he'll be up 2nd in the 8th inning at the latest). And to add to the intrigue of Frank having another shot at #500 later in the game, the Toronto pitcher has a no hitter through 6. EDIT: No hitter through 7.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 05:45 AM) Not unless he imporves a ton defensively. Best case scenario is he ends up a starting 2nd baseman IMHO. Ok fair enough. I just hope he is a success, we need middle IF help at levels that are unimaginable.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 10:33 PM) Don't get pissed off at this statement, but if you were born in 1986, you don't know bad baseball as far as the White Sox goes... until this year. Carry on... TRUST ME, I know I don't know bad Sox baseball. I'm just saying that 17 years with no top 10 picks thing is deceiving, we've had all kinds of mediocre teams that simply were not top 10 pick bad like this one is. We haven't had some sort of great or even good run the last 17 years, in fact I'd guess 3 trips to the playoffs in 17 years is certainly below average. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 10:32 PM) 15 years? Aren't you pretty much my age, in college? I am told I've been watching since 1992, but I first remember the 1994 team when I was 8, so what like 13 or 14 seasons? Close enough.

QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 08:22 PM) An interesting tibbit in that same article: Scouting update The Sox's streak of 17 consecutive years without a top 10 pick in the amateur draft is in jeopardy with their current slide. This goes to show how competitive the White Sox organization has been for almost 20 years! But no...fire everybody, right?? Or should we trust them to rebuild for next year? We missed the playoffs 14 of those 17 years, didn't win a playoff game 15 of the 17, and didn't win a playoff series 16 of the 17. Again, I don't get why that is so great. Don't confuse mediocrity with achievement. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 05:37 PM) Mercy. Today was "That Game" for me. This team has been incredibly hard to watch, but for some reason, it took today for me to finally get that real punch in the gut feeling. I really am embarrassed right now. The product that has been put on the field, the product we as fans are supposed to have SOX PRIDE in, is a joke. I feel lied to by Williams. Kenny promised the fans, "If you guys show up, I will put a winner on this field, I guarantee it." Thats not cutting it anymore. We were promised that the bullpen disaster of 06 was corrected, and we would all be impressed with the new 'pen. Mission failed. Sitting in my seat, surrounded by Cub fans, I was just embarrassed of my team, and it's the first time I have been in a real, real long time. I just don't get enjoyment out of going to the ballpark and watching these guys play, which makes me very, very upset. I've been watching for 15 years and this is the first time I've ever been truly embarassed. I've been angry, irrational, crazy, happy, everything else....but this season is the first time I've been embarassed.

One day people on this board will realize the problem with Frank Thomas was 110 percent a KW thing and had nothing to do with Ozzie. At all.
-
Encouraging work from Richar and Poreda. I'd hope Poreda is at least in A ball by the end of the year, if not high A. And Richar played SS in game 2, I'd love to see him there everyday and up here in September in Uribe's spot if he does well. Just my 0.02 though.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 04:00 PM) Well said...it baffles my mind when people think a manager has no say about who's on the roster. Poor Luis...one bad game against the Indians, and he's lumped in with someone who went crazy and someone who was released a few months into the season. If this organization is this bad because KW is taking Ozzie's advice, then KW is dumber than I thought and they both should have been fired by now.
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 03:51 PM) 5 tool shortstop for Vanderbilt. Great speed and insane power are his two best qualities. Well as Ozzie himself has said, he'll have to decide if he is a speed or power guy. Can't be both but have to be one.
-
That's the other thing, when you are really bad, it's not the players fault. When you are 4th or 5th place bad, it means you don't have enough talent, and that's the GM's fault and can't be debated.
-
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 03:53 PM) No, it wasn't a good move. I'm not necessarily in favor of bringing back Ozzie for PR purposes. He's still got years left on his deal, doesn't he? I'd like to keep him, but to extend him now? No, I wouldn't do that. No real reason to. Agreed. Also, would people STOP comparing KW to Ozzie? Ozzie just manages what the people above him give him, he's not making personnel decisions outside of the lineups and pitching (which is why I DO blame him for 2006 but not 2007). On the other hand, this is KW's 7th season running our organization and come October, we will have sat at home for 6 of the 7 postseasons and our organization will be in it's worst position since the late 80's overall in terms of the talent inside of it. For our organization to go from World Champion to one of the 5 worst talentwise in baseball in 18 months is all on KW, and something I can't believe could happen, even if you told me he was TRYING to do it (which he of course was not).
-
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 03:50 PM) No, but people love Ozzie. People associate Ozzie with the White Sox. Like Podsednik, which is half the reason he was brought back (the other half was, s***! All the other Leadoff hitters are expensive!!). My issues are with KW, Rick Hahn and our scouts. Our coaches, too. I take SMALL issue with Ozzie here and there, but he is NOT the problem. IMO since he has been here, Ozzie has had 2 good teams to work with, one won a world championship (2005) and one IMO Ozzie was the biggest villian in missing the playoffs (2006). He deserves a shot with one more good team to see once and for all what he is IMO, problem is we might not have another good team for a few years. But to give him an extension this year would be stupid, you even say half of why we brought Pods back was PR and that hasn't gone too well for us has it?
-
Let's make this one the official loss thread, pin it to the top and everything. And I don't just say that since I started it .
-
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 03:45 PM) All 3. No manager could win with the AA team we're fielding right now. Andy Gonzalez? Ryan Bukvich? Come on. This is on KW, and solely on KW. How many games have we lost due to Ozzie compared to how many we have lost due to the s*** 25 man roster. How many losses do we have now? Like 42 or something? I'd say of those 42, I could name 4 due to Ozzie. So it's a little over 9/10 on Kenny IMO.
-
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 03:43 PM) If Ozzie gets extended now, the reason to do it is, It'll help the average fan and attendance. It's a PR move, if he gets it now. There's no reason to have him fired, though. There is way more reason to fire KW than Ozzie right now, not much Ozzie can do with this team. However you don't make a move for the sake of PR, ever. The Cubs have spent a century making moves for the sake of PR, that is not how you win. Like the guy in the thread last night said, those who make moves for the fans end up sitting with them.
-
Can you imagine how good Josh would be doing with a real hitting coach, considering what he's doing on his own? Friday, allowed 2 runs in the first 8 and lost, today allowed 1 run in the first 8 and lost. lmao.
-
Regardless of what you think of Ozzie, there is no realistic way you can give him an extension this year with our play, even if this is KW's fault much more than his.
-
We'll win tomorrow to delay the firesale for a week I predict, but this is by far the most pathetic White Sox team I've ever seen.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 06:46 PM) Like I said during the game thread, I fear the idea that the Sox will sign Rowand this offseason with the mindset that it will take off some of the heat from the fans for letting Buehrle and Dye leave. An organization that ever makes any moves with the approval of their fanbase in mind is a lock to fail. 100 percent lock.
