2007 MLB Catch-All Thread
1 month ago today, Chone Figgins was hitting .123, and he is now hitting .302 and even had 3 walks today. That's about as drastic a turnaround as you can find considering how many AB's Figgins had when his average was at the low point (he missed almost all of April, but still).

Laumann new scouting director
I will saw in KW's defense that he is in the majority having not seen his first round pick in person, for sure.

I think I say this on behalf of most of the people here...
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 06:56 PM) Our bench sucks due to injuries and having to start way more often. You can't count on Ozuna, Hall and Cintron all getting hurt and Mackowiak having to become a starter. Yeah but you could count on Crede, Erstad, and Thome being prime candidates to be hurt, and Toby only played in 85 games last year, so he's not a prime candidate for Mr. Iron Man.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 05:25 PM) What are you basing this on? He said that this was the year he wanted to be more hands-on. The fact it took him 6 and a half years to be more hands on about the future of our organization (drafting and the minor leagues) is a good place to start as to where I base having no hope KW can ever fix our system.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 06:52 PM) Dude, you were right there with him on the Frank thing. Way to pull a Mariotti. I made a lot of mistakes after we won it all, such as thinking KW and Ozzie had a clue what they were doing and being with KW in arguments with players. I admit being blinded by the ring and flip flopping here, but there were a lot of people fooled by this farce of a GM/manager combo after 2005.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 06:47 PM) Cause Frank did nothing to warrant it, whatever. And this years team has quit, I'm sorry but everyone knows it, it's not a very good club to begin with but they've definitely thrown in the towel. I AM an immature asshole when it comes to sports, so this years team can indeed go to hell. If this team has quit, the manager can do out the same door the GM can. And you can for sure make a case they did quit, I will give ya that.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 06:46 PM) Yeah, f*** KW for not realizing that damn near every member of our starting lineup would regress in dramatic fashion. He said to trust him and emphasized how we had fixed the bullpen this offseason. In reality, we have the fewest wins in baseball, the worst bullpen* in baseball, and the worst offense in baseball. While nobody could have seen our offense being THIS bad, everybody knew Crede had a career year last year, everybody knew Dye had a career year last year, everybody knew Pods and Erstad would get hurt, that Uribe can't hit, that A.J. has turned into a homer or nothing player, and that our bench and OF in general suck. There are very few excuses for KW right now.

I can't totally agree. I honestly think these guys are trying as hard as they can, but just aren't good enough. I DO say GO TO HELL KENNY WILLIAMS. He has put together this joke of a team, this joke of a farm system, has been a prick towards guys like Frank Thomas, and led us to 6 Octobers out of 7 at home. I could never hate this team, but I hate the losers running it that have put us in this spot. The entire scouting department needs to go.

There is no hope until KW is gone for our minor league system, so this hire really is not surprising.

Recruiting Thread
QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 05:06 PM) After explaining why Kansas is teh greatest school evar just a week ago, Liggins now has a new leader: Kentucky. He's gonna be a nail biter until he signs it sounds like. And wow, Wisky football has been cleaning house lately in recruiting, 5 verbals in the last week and 7 in the last two weeks.

I am not even sure I know the answer to this question....
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 05:16 PM) Then stop posting. You would be doing everyone a favor. Oooh clever. All my negative posts earlier in the year were obviously wrong, so clearly I have no idea what I'm talking about.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 05:13 PM) Ugh, the quality of this board is sinking faster than our chances of getting anything worthwhile back for Dye. I have run out of ideas for real threads at this point.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 02:53 PM) Something needs to happen after this game. It needed to happen after the FIRST Cubs series. It was pretty obvious what was coming after that, even if everybody made fun of my firesale thread which turned out to be pretty accurate.

The Dominican Wind couldn't even blow that one foul.

I miss going 81-81, hitting 220 home runs, and not pitching.

QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 02:43 PM) A-GONE! Indeed! How many times do you see it, a guy gets a horrible read, takes a bad angle, and makes a pop up into a running catch to end an inning and then comes up and goes yard.

QUOTE(Jim Spencer @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 02:41 PM) Why didn't Juan turn the double play?????? Because he barely threw Pagan out at 1st, and if he goes to 2nd for the force they have no shot at doubling Pagan. Why did he not throw to 2nd? Who knows.

Good start. I am sure glad heads are rolling around here with as bad as we have been. Oh wait....everybody still has a job except a crusty old scout.

I think they should invent a new term. Once your so bad it's beyond fun bad, it's 2007 White Sox bad.
