  1. The AP mention of the story points out that the fans at the Metrodome gave him a standing ovation, so kudos are in order as well for the Twins fans IMO.
  2. Noah and Ben Wallace would be the worst offensive big man duo ever, he simply DOES NOT fit the Bulls roster at all. If the Bulls had a big man like KG he would, but not with Big Ben. And I stand corrected on JamesOn, thanks for the link to that comment by K.C.
  3. Congrats to, undeniably, the greatest player in White Sox History. I can't wait until the day I have to drive all the way to upstate New York to see you enter the HOF with a Sox Cap.
  4. The only real way the Bulls could piss me off this evening is if they take Noah. He's basically a smaller version of Tyson Chandler, but runs the floor better and doesn't get nearly as many rebounds.
  5. If the Dodgers are offering Billingsley and Ethier for Mark, I might have a harder time deciding whether or not to take that deal than I would whether or not to pay Mark.
  6. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 10:08 AM) It ain't happening, but if it did, and the Bulls picked up JamesOn Curry in the second round...I would be thrilled. Curry would score and is bigger than Gordon, but not by much. *drools* The idea is good in theory, but the Bulls would never, ever, ever take JamesOn Curry. I don't think prospects who spent their senior year of high school selling drugs to any kid in North Carolina he could find fits the Skiles/Paxson system.
  7. QUOTE(iamshack @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 10:44 AM) Oh come on. The Score reported it was done, or close to being done, but at least they knew something was happening. I guarantee you that AM 1000 and Bruuuuuuuce Levine knew something was going on as well, but wanted to make the Score look as poorly as possible in breaking the story and trying to scoop them. Thus, they get the most polar opposite quote (from Mark's agent) they can and repeat IT all day. So basically we had two radio stations yesterday, one saying a deal was practically done, and the other pretending as though absolutely nothing was going on. And both were dead wrong, and probably knew as much. They're like two stubborn kids refusing share. In retrospect, this is probably what actually happened. Both stations exaggerated what they knew to try and outdo the other, and both ended up looking stupid. Congrats to them.
  8. Want me to be honest? I had a total braincramp and forgot the Dunigan/Humphrey thing. That makes me think that the Dunigan/Humphrey/Suggs class is more likely because I think Dunigan is an Illini eventually. That class would make me a lot more happy. Losing Liggins is still huge, but Humphrey instead of Shumpert is a huge positive.
  9. Deadlines usually lead to disaster. I don't like this at all, regardless of the outcome in terms of if we trade Mark or keep Mark.
  10. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 09:48 PM) Figure.It.Out Thanks, I saved that to favorites so that won't be an issue anymore.
  11. Yeah Kalapse about summed it up in his post. The one thing I'd point out though is it's a shame it's come to this. There is NO WAY that is should come to a point where we might be FORCED to trade THE face of the franchise because we did such a lousy job in regards to the talent level in our organization, but you could make the case we've arrived at that station.
  12. I'm not even sure if Pablo is signed through next year or not, but Andy strikes me as the next Pablo Ozuna on our roster, in terms of if things are going well (which for sure they aren't this year of course). Either way, he'll be taking Cintron, Mackowiak, or Ozuna's roster spot next year.
  13. I will get worried if they win 6 or 7 in a row. I want no excuses for this team to not have a fire sale. None.
  14. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 09:22 PM) Show me a quotation where I defended what Benoit did. C'mon, just simply show me a quote that I made defending his actions after the information came out that it was a confirmed murder/suicide. It should be easy, troll. You and several others have spent almost the entire thread defending his actions via excuses for them. It's always "it's a terrible thing he did, but". There should be no but, he's a juiced up freak who killed his wife and kid just for the hell of it. Troll.
  15. Your not killing trolls, your dumbing down the area. Kinda like wrestling and the Cubs do with their fanbases, so don't give yourself too much credit. I just love being a troll for not defending a double murderer and steroid use, it is cute.
  16. I think Bobby was just testing how far an opponent can hit it without it being a home run since he has the extra run.
  17. I can't believe some of the things people have disagreed with me about on this board this week. I swear I could post terrorism is evil and get people to argue with me about it because of my SN. Ah well, at least it's not boring.
  18. I disagree with the premise that Jesus Christ can't hit a curveball. WITH THAT SAID, I doubt he'd hit it if he were batting left handed and Boone Logan threw it.
  19. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 06:30 PM) Perhaps a years issue.. If Buehrle would take 5/70 and Uncle Jerry says no, then wow that's just bad. 5/70 for Buehrle is chump change, Jerry's rules on years be damned.
  20. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 06:20 PM) So apparently Buehrle told Farmer that he's looking for $14M a year. Seems odd that he'd just mention a fact that during the broadcast as if it's nothing. 4-56 sure seems fair to me, I figured it would take 4-60 to keep him.
  21. That was about the fastest first inning you could get. Sorrenstine for Tampa doesn't walk too many guys, but he also gives up a ton of hits and home runs. Lift and pull might be fruitful tonight for once.
  22. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 05:50 PM) If so, that would be a great, ranked class. Is that more or less what's expected? How is illinois doing with those guys so far? I've heard purdue, georgetown and other are after dunigan, acc schools ga. tech and clemson after shumpert, etc... It's still a pretty darn good class. My main issue is I think Shumpert is very overrated and wouldn't be somebody Illinois would even really want had they got Liggins. It's more personal preference, this will still probably be a top 25 class nationally. Of the 3 guys I listed, I think Suggs is most likely to come to Illinois, then Dunigan, and Shumpert has been all over the map with his schools. If Dunigan falls through, the kid Brandenburg from Missouri is also possible and same goes for Humphrey if Shumpert doesn't work out. I'd be shocked if Suggs doesn't wear O&B.
  23. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 06:12 PM) Mark's statement doesn't mean much either. He wouldn't steal the press thunder. There probably is something brewing, just not nearly as close as some have suggested. Of course there is, but for The Score to report as they have today on the story is just stupid.
  24. As I said hours ago, It's simply silly to believe 670 over 1000, and even sillier to believe 670 period. I don't care if they are our flagship, George Offman is about as to baseball breaking news what Shaq is to free throw shooting....odds are more likely than not he missed.
